Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
pitmaster replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Two days of it and so little that's new in this Herald Sun "expose". Just more of Hird's leaking against Evans and trying to punish Demetriou. Keep it up sunshine...it can only come back and bite you in the @#%@ some time in the future. -
New Major Sponsor: Automotive Holdings Group (AHG)
pitmaster replied to Demon3's topic in Melbourne Demons
I am having great success with Tyrell's - just picked up half a dozen Brokenback Shiraz plus six of their pricier whites. And I always let them know it's because they sponsor the Dees. -
By definition a king hit is one the victim does not see coming. Your suggestion that there was a verbal clash first that continued into fisticuffs conflicts with the notion of a king hit which really ought to be called a coward's hit. Gleeons' account makes sense of it with the hit coming after the verbal stuff subsided and May thinking the episode was over. I despise Brown so without the benefit of being able to resort to the facts I conclude May was hit from behind at a time when he had no reason to expect an assault - a classic coward's hit as practiced by such predecessors of Brown's as Leigh Mathews (on Bruns, on Giles, on Stephen Smith).

Premiers.

He give his all but I can't see a future for him beyond this year. He has some dash but his disposal is something decent teams would not tolerate. That said he has already played 44 more games than me for the mighty red and blue. I hope he makes it to 50 games even if it takes until round 22. Preferably without any more KOs.

The Hawks would still have a dip. Fits them perfectly.

Dean Bailey Diagnosed With Cancer
pitmaster replied to Straight Sets Simon's topic in Melbourne Demons
It is pointless to speculate about what might have caused any one cancer. Plenty of people who have never smoked for example, develop cancers associated with smoking. We all wish Bails the best for his recovery. Let's just hope for that. -

Yeah but can he bounce it on the run as well as Tommy Mac? -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAMES HARMES

Coached this year by one of our finest - The Yeater. Anyone know if he put a word in for the kid? -
Appalling. In fact I'd go so far as to say disgraceful given their loyal and effective service under great difficulty this year. Who's to say they won't improve further with a second preseason under their belts and 20 games experience?

Yeah well I agree on that...but I was saying I am not offended by them as some here seem to be. -

I dont get that either. The stars were Schwab's way of reminding the club that the frustration of the past dive decades was at odds with the 68 years of VFL-AFL competition that went before. Once we were a giant of the competition, but for most people we are a St Kilda-like study in failure and under achievement. Schwabby was telling us that as bad as we might have been recently, there was still reason to be proud. I too don't give a rats about the stars. I have to say though that with PJ at the helm I am feeling better about the present and the future. -
Not a caravaner myself but pleased to see the new coach's box sponsor New Age caravans. One piece at a time.
-
So few actually understand what an important point of our history this is: they want to rabbit on about culture and such things and while there is something in that the rot began with us in the VFL's sights and they nailed us to the wall. Good to meet you.

www.legalaid.qld.gov.au/legalinformation/livinginthecommunity/Yourrights/Pages/Privacy.aspx "It is not illegal to simply record a telephone conversation if you are a party to the conversation as long as you do not attach anything to or in the phone or its connections."

You're allowed to record your own conversations, Jack. The legal point would turn on whether you are allowed to broadcast them to third parties...if that is what replaying them to your mates amounts to,

It's Mick Davis. He is an ex-Sun football writer of long experience. I reckon he goes back to the early 80s at least, but probably the 70s. He was there when Peter Simunovic (anyone remember him?) was chief football writer and Lou Richards' tips were regarded as the Kiss of Death. Davis goes back so far Simunovic was followed by Mike Sheahan as football chief. He was at The Australian for a few years and his column in The Age is his first dip into sports writing for a while, but I recognised his pic from his old days at The Sun. Given Boofhead has had a crack at him I'd say there's some ill-feeling from Davis' days with the Murdoch press. As for his article, it's just a light hearted column. I reckon Robbo's being thin skinned, but he is a self important prat after all and what else would you expect? Oh and I agree with his comments re Whateley. Sounds like a chain saw against a barbed wire fence.

Whatever he taught them, however they stuffed up, Neeld and Watters have ensured that Malthouse is the last person any aspiring coach would want vouching for them. Malthouse's seal of approval has gutted two clubs in as many years.

OK so the Red Sox killed it back in 2004, but they've done it again overnight. I am not normally one for omens but if they can bury their curse (I think this is their third WS win including '04 since they sold the Babe) we can take heart that our red legs can get on with killing ours. Ler 'em rip Roosy.
-
So we face sacked coach syndrome round one. Wish it was a home game now.
-
I don't understand the hate for JM in this thread. He was honest and gave us his best. I was sorry Neeld did not persist with him but what is most interesting about this article is that it is ENTIRELY CONSISTENT (sorry for shouting but wanted your attention) WITH EVERYTHING Peter Jackson has said since coming on board. Confused and confusing is how Neeld's tenure is portrayed. JM has given us a concrete example of that with mixed messages from the midfield staff and Neeld himself. That last remark bagging the club is one he probably regrets, but this confirms that those of us who could not understand why he was not used to put some muscle and intent into our midfield were justified in wondering.
-
That's about right but break even shifts a bit depending on how many MCC turn up (the cricketers tip extra in for us at home).
-
Absolutely. Of the eight home MCG games four are against non-Victorians and neither Norf nor the Dogs can pull a crowd. Commercially it's a disaster but in football terms not so bad.
