  1. Spargo isn’t ready. I said a few weeks ago he wasn’t strong enough to stick tackles. Today it was his lack of composure and inability to kick 40m. Just not ready.
  2. No composure. Panic after panic.
  3. Can’t understate how impressed I am by Tyson these last two weeks. Super happy for him and it’s great for us.
  4. Spargo's inability to stick tackles is a worry heading into the final month. I think there is a lot to gain from getting AVB back in the team now so he can get up to speed.
  5. Positives far outweigh his negatives.

After reading the injury report today which says the above two players are getting close to playing again, I've been wondering if they make our side better once fit and in form. Both have had such a poor run with injuries for such a long time, it's actually hard to recall what they were like at their best, but I have a sneaky suspicion they would indeed make us better. Tough for the player/s who miss out, but another good "problem" to have. They first have to regain full fitness and form of course.
  7. Thanks champ....
  8. How old is Gaff?
  9. Like many of us, the media has seen too many false dawns with Melbourne. Some will hold off judgement until they've seen something they can't deny. Some will take a very long time to get there and will still dish out a back-hander on the way through ("So they should be good with all the AFL help/early draft picks/etc etc") Let's just keep winning and playing a brand of footy that is super attractive to watch.
  10. It's been the selflessness and team first attitudes that have really stood out the last 3 weeks. Very effective and makes for great footy too.

Spargo to be the one to miss I think. Great intro to AFL seniors though. ANB and Harmes to play a bit more forward and less on ball than they have been.
  12. I watched the reply last night. Harmes and ANB were much better than I noticed watching in live. It would be surprising if they were to miss.
  13. I'm ok where we're at but there is still a lot of room for improvement, especially with scoring efficiency. I heard today that an article in one of the papers over the weekend likened MFC to a P-plater behind the wheel of a big V8. A lot of power in the hands of the relatively young. Once the power is harnessed and focused we will be a consistent force, but until then, we're also prone to running of the road into a ditch.
  14. Mine worked for non-MFC stuff, but not the MFC stuff. Really strange.
  15. Very pleasing decision.
  16. We play attacking footy which against some teams will lead to very attractive and high scoring games. We came back. Midfielders kicked goals.
  17. Great summary. One rushed kicked out of defence and an up-and-under kick to our half forward line. And someone calls that "atrocious"??? Incredible blindspots. Petracca and Sidebottom both had howlers yet were widely voted as the best two players on the ground. Quite surprised Vince's name hasn't come up as someone committing plenty of mistakes. Some of his handballing in particular was really poor. Either to players feet or above their heads. Really slowed our momentum at times.

Fyfe over Kelly every day of the week. I wonder if the Kelly link to Melbourne is nothing more than journos being so used to mentioning them both in the same sentence due to all the Tyson/Salem/Kelly trade analysis.
  19. Does a lot right and I really value that despite being predominately an outside player, he can get his own ball at times. Must build some strength over the coming off season though because he doesn't stick anywhere near as many tackles as he could.
  20. Toumpas is still far too young for the AFL world to have given up on him and would be taken via trade for sure if we decided to move him on (which I don't think we will). Garland and Dunn would also be valuable to other clubs if we wanted to move them on (also which I don't think we will). Take Fitz and Toumpas off Forest Demons list above and I wouldn't be too surprised.
  21. He must have carried some first game nerves, missed a few gettable shots in the first few rounds and the last two games have had wet halves. Looking forward to seeing what he might do in the coming weeks. We've been waiting a long time for this.
  22. If St Kilda nab him, we'll take the player most people currently think will go No. 1. I'm sure we'll find use of him on our list.

<--- Ex Wowhead Been about 2 months since I last played. Probably get back into it soon. Getting sick of iPad games.
  24. Clarkson > Eade > Malthouse Malthouse is the flavour of the month BUT it took him a very long time and A LOT more resources than we can throw at our football department. He has every luxury an AFL coach would want - money, facilities, top assistant coaches and a stand alone VFL side. It still took him a long time to win one, perhaps two flags. He's also a [censored]. Eade has a good record, without the ultimate success. I believe he could do more with our list and football department resources than Malthouse could. 7 years without a flag is probably long enough to lose the confidence of the players, but we have a good list ready to learn and perform for a new coach. Clarkson's record at Hawthorn speaks for itself. Our potential talent could possibly be better than Hawthorns (we probably have more Top 20 picks on our list) and our football department spend would only be slightly behind. Has a history with our club and current powerbrokers. Go get him.

Jack Watts hasn't played like someone who is at all concerned he won't make it in AFL. Players picked later in the draft need to prove to themselves and thier club from the very start that they are capable. Jack would have been told that he has nothing to prove, and is playing to gain experience. Nothing is being demanded of him. There will come a time when his coach and team will demand something from him, and that is when he will need to deliver.
