Farewell Jesse Hogan
That's pretty key now. Very strange outcome to a long period of speculation.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
This is becoming very interesting. Despite what Goody said a few weeks ago, the talk isn't going away. There's obviously going to be some very disappointed supporters if he isn't on out list next year. As talented as he obviously is, I can't ignore our results when he isn't in the team. Maybe an absolute coincidence, but it definitely doesn't make me fear a future without him.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Why not Freo? Not every footballer considers potential on-field success to be the one and only consideration when making their career choices. Money, home, relationships also come into it, and for some would be more important than who the coach is and where the team is likely to finish.

Farewell Jesse Hogan
From a non-emotional perspective, any in contract player is generally at the highest value to their current club. Out of contract, the club loses some control then FA is all control to the player and destination club. IF Hogan requests a trade, I don’t think he is of the value that it benefits us to refuse.

I’d be happy with Fyfe minus top knot but I do t think that will happen. Young Brayshaw plus their first pick would be close. Maybe Kent to them also (hopefully his luck changes there, poor bugger).

Farewell Jesse Hogan
Dr Turf and KB brought Hogan up again today. Says the rumours just won’t go away. Some rumours say he is gone. Apart from early picks, what else can Freo offer?

Gaming - we are out!
Very pleasing decision.

Time to show Oscar some respect!
Great summary. One rushed kicked out of defence and an up-and-under kick to our half forward line. And someone calls that "atrocious"??? Incredible blindspots. Petracca and Sidebottom both had howlers yet were widely voted as the best two players on the ground. Quite surprised Vince's name hasn't come up as someone committing plenty of mistakes. Some of his handballing in particular was really poor. Either to players feet or above their heads. Really slowed our momentum at times.

Josh Kelly
Fyfe over Kelly every day of the week. I wonder if the Kelly link to Melbourne is nothing more than journos being so used to mentioning them both in the same sentence due to all the Tyson/Salem/Kelly trade analysis.

Billy Stretch Appreciation Thread
Does a lot right and I really value that despite being predominately an outside player, he can get his own ball at times. Must build some strength over the coming off season though because he doesn't stick anywhere near as many tackles as he could.

Delistings/trades at end of the season
Toumpas is still far too young for the AFL world to have given up on him and would be taken via trade for sure if we decided to move him on (which I don't think we will). Garland and Dunn would also be valuable to other clubs if we wanted to move them on (also which I don't think we will). Take Fitz and Toumpas off Forest Demons list above and I wouldn't be too surprised.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN PETRACCA
If St Kilda nab him, we'll take the player most people currently think will go No. 1. I'm sure we'll find use of him on our list.

Demons offer Clarkson 5 year deal [2011]
Clarkson > Eade > Malthouse Malthouse is the flavour of the month BUT it took him a very long time and A LOT more resources than we can throw at our football department. He has every luxury an AFL coach would want - money, facilities, top assistant coaches and a stand alone VFL side. It still took him a long time to win one, perhaps two flags. He's also a [censored]. Eade has a good record, without the ultimate success. I believe he could do more with our list and football department resources than Malthouse could. 7 years without a flag is probably long enough to lose the confidence of the players, but we have a good list ready to learn and perform for a new coach. Clarkson's record at Hawthorn speaks for itself. Our potential talent could possibly be better than Hawthorns (we probably have more Top 20 picks on our list) and our football department spend would only be slightly behind. Has a history with our club and current powerbrokers. Go get him.

Jack Watts
Jack Watts hasn't played like someone who is at all concerned he won't make it in AFL. Players picked later in the draft need to prove to themselves and thier club from the very start that they are capable. Jack would have been told that he has nothing to prove, and is playing to gain experience. Nothing is being demanded of him. There will come a time when his coach and team will demand something from him, and that is when he will need to deliver.
