It’s been noticeable for a few weeks. Not sure if it’s league wide, but it’s definitely been causing some of our players to panic a bit just before kicking it and getting right underneath it. I hope it gets looked at internally with our players to make sure they know where the mark is and I hope the umps are all over policing the mark strongly.

From afar, I get the feeling he still doesn’t know how good he is. That is the hurdle that he needs to get over and we will see the best of him. Has the talent and exhubrance to be an star.
-
I’d be happy with Fyfe minus top knot but I do t think that will happen. Young Brayshaw plus their first pick would be close. Maybe Kent to them also (hopefully his luck changes there, poor bugger).

Dr Turf and KB brought Hogan up again today. Says the rumours just won’t go away. Some rumours say he is gone. Apart from early picks, what else can Freo offer?
-
I was thinking the same thing. It was the game he played with the glove that I really noticed he was at a new level. Strange coincidence.
-
I could see that was high from the top deck at the other end of the ground. How can the 3 umps miss it.

What are the broadcasters saying about Kent?

Darling played for the push in the back. This is what happens when the AFL takes too long stopping people playing for frees.
-
Good chance one of these 15 pages mention it, but what was the scuffle at the end about. Nev looked seriously upset.
-
Darling played for the push in the back free kick by basically flopping forward but OMac twisted him in the tackle. It would be an absolute travesty if anything happened at all. So he'll probably get several weeks.

No way am I going to write off a 18 or 19 year old kid.
-
Am I the only one that thought JKH was pretty good today? Retains his spot easily I would have thought. We should have rested Hogan against Gold Coast. I hope we don’t end up regretting it...

Spargo isn’t ready. I said a few weeks ago he wasn’t strong enough to stick tackles. Today it was his lack of composure and inability to kick 40m. Just not ready.
-
No composure. Panic after panic.
-
Can’t understate how impressed I am by Tyson these last two weeks. Super happy for him and it’s great for us.
-
Spargo's inability to stick tackles is a worry heading into the final month. I think there is a lot to gain from getting AVB back in the team now so he can get up to speed.
-
Positives far outweigh his negatives.

After reading the injury report today which says the above two players are getting close to playing again, I've been wondering if they make our side better once fit and in form. Both have had such a poor run with injuries for such a long time, it's actually hard to recall what they were like at their best, but I have a sneaky suspicion they would indeed make us better. Tough for the player/s who miss out, but another good "problem" to have. They first have to regain full fitness and form of course.

Thanks champ....

How old is Gaff?

Give us some credit! (Media reaction merged thread)
Vipercrunch replied to Billy's topic in Melbourne Demons
Like many of us, the media has seen too many false dawns with Melbourne. Some will hold off judgement until they've seen something they can't deny. Some will take a very long time to get there and will still dish out a back-hander on the way through ("So they should be good with all the AFL help/early draft picks/etc etc") Let's just keep winning and playing a brand of footy that is super attractive to watch. -
Talking Dees on the Monday Night Footy Shows (28/5)
Vipercrunch replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
It's been the selflessness and team first attitudes that have really stood out the last 3 weeks. Very effective and makes for great footy too. -
Spargo to be the one to miss I think. Great intro to AFL seniors though. ANB and Harmes to play a bit more forward and less on ball than they have been.
-
I watched the reply last night. Harmes and ANB were much better than I noticed watching in live. It would be surprising if they were to miss.

I'm ok where we're at but there is still a lot of room for improvement, especially with scoring efficiency. I heard today that an article in one of the papers over the weekend likened MFC to a P-plater behind the wheel of a big V8. A lot of power in the hands of the relatively young. Once the power is harnessed and focused we will be a consistent force, but until then, we're also prone to running of the road into a ditch.
