NON MFC: Round 02
Not an exciting match, though I did like the artificial crowd noise, made it better to watch than round one with the silence.

CHANGES: Rd 02 vs Carlton
Good changes as the extended period gave the opportunity for other places to compete for a spot whihc would have normally happened without the break. Best of luck to Bennell, its feel when the "The Ox" came back from the knee injuries as we. didn't know which way it would go. Let the footy gods finally smile on him.

2008 Redrafted
They really misjudged the talent that year...

Big Footy in strife?
Apparently a breach of their database.

Financial Issues MFC
True. From PJ onwards said success on the field will bring success off (under good management). We are a footy club first and need to win and be successful on the field year on year.

Financial Issues MFC
It is a cash flow issue. Normally we have cashflow coming in from games etc. That source has been removed for the time being. Pre-covid-19 the club stated the level if debt was manageable and not a concern for the ongoing operation of the club. Obviously unusual circumstances has changed that. We have the AFL ensuring we are viable, which I thank. the AFL for. Ideally we'd have alternate income producing assets which was the plan with the proceeds from the sale of the pokies. Had the club reported where that money have been invested and in what?

AFL Membership Refund
Its comes back to what is more important the cash or the marketing value of the membership? Which one is worth more to the club, I would say the marketing/market reach for our sponsors and other corporate interests. Happy to keep paying as I can. For those that make the choice for a refund hopefully they can be retained as a member for maybe a $1 for marketing purposes etc.

Where did it all go wrong for the Demons?
Basically, the competition moved to professional and we didn't. Reading the Red Fox and other biographies on the club it was mentioned that the quality of players was declining from our zones, plus Melbourne was no longer the "destination" club it was over the previous decade as players came to play for us from the country etc. This was ending. Facilities were a factor but not until the 80's when everyone's training facilties improved. We were right to leave the MCC and should have done it earlier. But when we left we should have been paid our goodwill for helping develop the MCG/MCC and its environment with the clubs success. We should have left with a good severance check to setup the club outside the MCC, if they did then Barassi may have been more successful in changing the club to one that is fully professional. Post then we unfortunately reached the GF when a dominant team was there as well. We had some back luck in the 90's and held onto the players too long after 2004 as ND did have favourites and didn't develop the next generation till we fell in a hole. The last 5 years has shown the creation of a new professional club that is competing is a very tough competition. However, we do have a better foundation and more certainty for the future, less what cover-19 will do to the competition!

Legends Match: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1953-1987 - Barassi vs Flower
In another era Robbie could have been as decorated as Barassi. Love'm both but only saw Robbie play live so does that make the difference in our voting? Barassi would not have left if he could run the MFC how he wanted and not been overseen by Norm and the old crowd. The problem Norm has when he first starting coaching us. You need a third option

GRAND FINAL: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Lyon vs Neitz
While Neeld tried to crack the soft culture and that was his initial pitch I imagine, simple he did not have the skills to do it. Though there was massive problems with the culture. You can only pus the players as far as they trust you, he had no trust, he hadn't earned it yet.

GRAND FINAL: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Lyon vs Neitz
Unfortunately neither could stop our yoyo season's....

GRAND FINAL: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Lyon vs Neitz
This may be a close one! Lyon is above Neita in his class and ability.

Mark Neeld's Spray on Morton.
Simple and straight forward example of why culture is the key to success. We do not have a culture and that is one of the reasons Roo's choose Goodwin, as he spoke about culture before his appointment and not strategy and tactics as the soil focus.

BRONZE MATCH: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Stynes vs Gawn
Change of coach and time given to White as the future, he competed to the end IMHO.

May Ready for One Big Preseason
An optimist would sat that at the same time these breaks will reduce the general wear and tear on the body and extend his career

GAME 30: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Stynes vs Neitz
Definitely a tough one, but there can be only 1 winner! Brownlow puts Stynes ahead for me.

Peter Matera Was Almost a Demon
Matera would have been perfect at the time and the nest few years. As it turned out the following season was a shocker for Matera at the eagles, well down on form. Which I think was because had mentally left despite being convinced to stay, though after that year he rise back to his usual standard. Him on the wing after the loss of Tingay would have made a difference, better than Craig Turley.

Training in 10’s
This was TV in WA, the AFL has squashed it until all teams in different states have the same ability to train to the same standard. Even playing field.

GAME 21: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Stynes vs White
Just realised you missed his continuous games record from his stats

2009 ReDrafted
The re-draft would be more interesting with a short writeup on why the original player drafted was no longer in that position in terms of value. It was a really shallow draft that year, it seems so. Trengove would have been a great player without his foot injury, till then he was tracking very nicely in terms of quality. Scully, could run and it comes back to athlete vs footballer. With the rate of rotations today, I think the footballer wins again. During our dark period we focussed on athletes who couldn't play the game and count learn in a poor team for someone to cover them as they did. As it turned out 2009 was a wasted draft.

GAME 19: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Gawn vs Tingay
Looking ahead I'm guessing the final will be Lyon/Gawn v Stynes simply based on the voting so far. Gawn is ahead for me but not by much. If Tingay didn't fall through a bloody window i reckon it could have been the other way around.

GAME 18: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Yze vs Farmer
Hmm I have to really think about this one.

GAME 16: Demonland's Best/Favourite Demon 1988-2020 - Wight vs Whelan
Wight was so versatile and fought like there was no tomorrow every time I saw him play. Wrecker did his job and was great but the it is Wight for me. R.I.P.
