  1. So any compensation picks for a player taken by GWS can not be used until at least 2012. Also it appears that if GWS wished to get O'Meara it could by refusing to deal on under 17 mini draft picks and finishing last next year and hoping that no other club gets a priority pick. That would mean GWS would be passing up some extra players and picks in following drafts. That is probably unlikely.
  2. I wasn't knocking them, I was actually feeling sorry for them.

    Pick 12

Think that's right. Especially when Fitzpatrick, Gawn, Martin and maybe McDonald could also play forward. We will try and bolster the engine room.
  4. If "you know who" goes could there be anyone more upset/angry/furious than Barry Prendergast and to a lesser extent Tim Harrington.
  5. Trouble is the AFL isn't about tradition, just ask Fitzroy. It's not the VFL anymore it's the AFL.
  6. And so it goes for anyone we chase. They stay or go elsewhere.
  7. The problem is that the AFL now have more clubs not wanting to play at Etihad, like Saints for example. They could give us less games at the G as a result. The AFL don't care about home grounds other than Geelong and Interstate. They regard the G as a league ground not the home of the Dees. We are in the middle of a major corporate dictatorship.
  8. Geelong make $500k for a 20000 crowd. They get 8 of those games a year. Over $4m, We break even or have to send a cheque to the AFL for the same crowd at the G. Anyone see anything unfair in this? One further fact. The four richest clubs in the AFL who also spend the most on their footy departments are in the top 4 spots on the ladder. Another coincidence?
  9. Just saw Open Mike on foxtel featuring Kevin Bartlett. He certainly is a self absorbed human being. Also as we have seen in the past he is never wrong, according to him.
  10. Simply put the AFL can't afford GWS to fail and therefore will do anything to help them. That means stuff the other clubs except maybe GC. What we should have done was ensure that no player under 22 could be taken by screaming through the press so that the AFL could not then say all the clubs agreed to it. We now know that was another AFL head office lie.
  11. Enjoy. How much do bananas cost in Paris? Are they discussing you know who in Paris?
  12. I am a lifelong Melbourne supporter, I lead a boring, miserable life.
  13. I know what you mean. I get funny looks when I say to someone I post on a Melbourne FC fan site and enjoy reading it. I think bananas are about $9.99 a kilo at the moment.
  14. Its basically I think yes and I think no and that is how it has been since it started. Lot more info on this thread such as horse racing, bananas, frustration with the Dees.
  15. If not for the fact that we let Junior go in a messy way, we would be seriously looking at getting rid of our captain and vice captain. Wont happen, but on form it should.
  16. Agree but I added Dons to the mix. If one of those sides was the victim the media would be full of it.
  17. I think a bit of festering is good. I thought that was the worst umpiring I have ever seen in a game. If it happened to Pies, Dons, Cats, Blues, Hawks there would be an uproar.
  18. Well that is it for 2011. Just to add the icing to the cake, the game cut out on my recording 2.5 minutes from the end. Trade and draft week to look forward to. By the way, were the umpires paid employees of Port Power. 28 frees to Port and 13 to us, 6 goals to Port from frees and at least another 2 goals to Port after a Dees free was ignored and a Mark of the Year contender to Howe 10 metres out not paid and then a goal to them on the rebound..
  19. Still disappointed from his side's meek exit from top-eight contention with a loss to St Kilda last weekend, North coach Brad Scott says his team needs polish added in the off-season to take the next step. And he has promised the Kangaroos will be active in October's trade week to help achieve that aim. "If we can add that polish, we're confident that 2012 is going to be a really exciting one for us," Scott said. "You're always looking to improve your list. "We sit ninth on the ladder at the moment and it's clearly not good enough. "We'll be looking at anything we can to improve our list. "We're going to be really aggressive, really ruthless to ensure that we improve from 2012 and beyond. Well North have declared their intentions, it would be nice to see us adopt the same approach.
  20. Just had a Hungry Jacks egg muffin and they are not as good as the big yellow M variety. See what this team has done to me, I am writing about breakfast muffins. Oh how I long for the days of the Banana Smoothie.
  21. Would it be tanking if we lose, as everyone has tipped Port? Seems to me Port will have tanked if they lose. They are the favourite and playing in Adelaide, albeit on a new ground.
  22. I am on the Gold Coast for a few days and posted the same thing. Every other game this weekend was shown live on free to air or foxtel. We are obviously the only game of no interest to anyone.
  23. Just looking at the ladder and noted that if we win by a lot and Tigers just beat Roos we would jump several teams and finish in 9th spot.
