    The answer to all this is simply, if the players we get for pick 12 this year and the compo pick next year are not combined, as good as Crouch and a return pick say 25 this year, we will know we made a mistake. The pick 25 is therefore a bit uncertain as we wouldn't know who we would have taken. Hindsight will again be a wonderful thing.

    Copmparing houses to footballers is stupid. If you overpay for a house that you love and live there and it goes up in value as they do over time, so what. If you overpay for a footballer that may turn out to be a dud big difference.

    I posted at 7.30 this morning that I felt we were going to be the bridesmaid again. Unfortunately like so many times in the past when we have sought the prize we have missed out again. Hopefully there is something better out there that we can get this year or next.

    As to first point what is wrong with the seller determining his price. Isn't that what usually happens? As to second point the compo picks were the pick after where you finished but we also had a mid ladder compo. Maybe GWS thought Crows would finish much lower than Dees next year.

    That is what we are discussing Maurie the price. I admit I am not the expert here even though I have recruited players to the club before, but i would have thought that with the way Crouch is viewed that pick 12 and 1 compo from us, with GC pick 14 going to GWS and us getting GWS pick later on is a far better deal for GWS and not a worse price for us.

    And to me. It would be nice to hear why we don't think that deal is a good one from Tim H so we can all understand.

    And he was for the pick that we got for losing Scott Thompson, we are behind on that deal.

    I think we are agreeing with each other. The picks for Trav and Brock were great but again I refer to a player we got in trade week who improved our list. I can't think of anyone either.

    Disagree Maurie. It seems that Crows give pick 10 and compo to our offer pick 12 and compo and they get pick 14 back and now want a listed player as well, when we asked for a pick back inside 25. If we gave pick 12 and compo and said you keep pick 14 from GC and give us your next pick after 15 say 25-30 that is far better for them. We obviously just went cold on Crouch or we are very set in our ways. Most on here wouldn't have blinked at 12 and compo let alone getting a pick back in return, so that is a long way off 12 and both compo picks. The Crows appear to have beaten us to Crouch by two spots better on the pick they gave but possibly GWS could have saved 11 spots on the pick they gave back. I don't understand that when they have pick 11 in between anyway. It does seem like they didn't want to deal with us. Maybe we walked away when they told us to.

    Agree but I was actually referring only to players we got in trade week not picks. I do agree that it was a great trade and did so at the time. If we had picked up a Maric with that pick would we be saying the same thing. My post really was on improving the list with a player traded to us in trade week only.

    Can you blame him? Who have we got in trade week in the last few years as a great trade for us. I said who, not what ( the Brock pick was great and the MFC deserves credit for that).

    Not yet lets wait the time out and see. I think I can say this without fear of being howled down, except for the Brock McLean deal, the MFC has been pathetic at improving its list during trade week over the last 10 years. The last good player I can recall we got is Beamer on the back of the pick for losing Scott Thompson. We certainly didn't win on that deal either. If I have forgotten a great trade for us feel free to remind me.
