  1. So can Clint, only not straight.
  2. Dead easy in hindsight. He is a midget who was reputed to have a deadly kick. When I saw him kick for goal it nearly killed me. Deadly kick for sure. I seem to remember WJ and I nearly fainting when his name was called by MFC. Oh well as you said we move on. Have we picked up anyone today I have just come back from a walk?
  3. Stop talking sense you are ruining my trade weekend. By the way can we agree we buggered up his selection big time as I recall quite a few of us saying at the time.
  4. Agree WJ. Does look good. Can you arrange it.
  5. After those jokes I am back off to the trading threads to see all of the trades we have done this week.
  6. Simple fact is that we convert more supporters to members than any other AFL club and have seen membership surge to record levels the last 3 years. There are therefore a lot of people other than Denham who know what this club stands for and are happy to be involved. So probably the best thing to say to Denham is who the hell are you, what do you stand for, nothing, so rack off.
  7. Speaking of Bananas, Mrs Redleg wanted to share a banana smoothie for lunch and I declined saying we had not traded anyone and there was nothing to celebrate. Skinny Latte was the substitute. Hope we don't miss out on too many more players or the title of the thread will be too big for Demonland.
  8. Not me, as I trudge home after every loss. Also my last ever visit to Skilled Stadium was 186 and I saw every second of it and half the reserves as well, which was nearly as bad.
  9. Just looking at prices. If Tom Lynch is pick 37 how can Bate be worse while contracted with 90 games behind him and a goal kicker. He has to be worth more than Lynch who has hardly played a game.
  10. Obviously depends what BP, TH and MN think of him. Again I say some Saints mates think he was hard done by and blame Coach for not giving him games.
  11. Would you look at offering Pies Bate pick from dogs. Given Pies position they would probably do it. Then they would keep McCaffer. What about McCarthy who is 189 cms same as Toovey but who is still 21 while Toovey turns 25 before next season. McCarthy a mid fielder is 2cms taller than McCaffer and has kicked more goals per game than him. Is young has played in a top side and has development in him and can kick a goal. Could not get into the Pies mid field because of the talent there. Of course I know that our Coach would know all three inside out.
  12. Haven't reached their price yet.
  13. Surely you have heard some trade whispers down there at at Chateau Frankston.
  14. That also means of course we can delist a few and maybe take a recycled player at 72.
  15. So that means North won't even give us pick 100 to get Maric or the GC the same for Warnock or even a slight upgrade of our pick 72.
  16. Thanks for the heads up Fan. I think my description of trade week still stands, of "overhyped and underwhelming".
  17. Well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know what you are getting at, but to be honest our record at trading for a player who has improved the list in the last 10 or so years has been very poor. I posted this earlier somewhere and no one to date has been able to refute it. Facts are facts. Yes we have traded some players for picks that turned out well like Trav/Grimes, Brock/Gysberts but the trading for a good player to us does not seem to happen. Imagine if we got 2 duds for those picks the outcry, well maybe not in Brock's case. I understand for the last few years we were developing and wanted picks, but this year we clearly are looking for a big body forward to help our younger forwards and we are struggling again. We still might do a deal. I think our efforts for Clark have been great and all we could expect. But there does seem to be some reluctance by players to come to us or clubs to deal with us, maybe I am just imagining that. We still have a few days left this year and we will see. I think we can still be realistic about what has happened in the past and assess it dispassionately, but as you predict we don't really need the slamming of the club as a bunch of hopeless incompetents. I think we all acknowledge it is very difficult in trade land as it is a dog eat dog week. In conclusion I will say this, I am far more confident of our off field structures than I was a while ago and so lets hope in the words of a school motto "onwards and upwards".
  18. Thanks. I think the Saints " we want to keep him because he is a developing player and a fine young man" is footy speak for we haven't been offered enough yet. We have a chance here if we want the boy.
  19. Correct me if I am wrong someone, but isn't the rule that if you trade someone and get a pick, you must use that pick. That could be the problem. We might only want to go so deep and if they are offering picks outside our range, we don't want to be forced to use them. If that is the case we might end up delisting Maric and Warnock and probably trade Bate on Monday for 39 that was offered with maybe another pick upgraded. We still have to make some room on the list. I also think Aussie will be delisted and rookied to make room.
  20. Where did you read this. I have been unable to find anything on this.
  21. No need for the sarcasm Tim D. I think everyone on here accepts his desire to go home and that it won out over money. Can't see anyone complaining.
  22. Not to mention our Irish connection as the first club to try it and the fact of not having to leave his "Melbourne" home and mates here.
  23. What are you talking about. I used him as an example of someone we offered more to but he chose another club over us.
  24. But on the other hand we are said to be looking for a big body to help Watts and Jurrah for a couple of years till our other young forwards can develop. He wants to play for Rookie wages to prove himself. Oh well this is all good fun discussing him while we have got no other option on the table. Hope we have a good weekend negotiating, if anyone will negotiate with us..
