  1. Can you blame him? Who have we got in trade week in the last few years as a great trade for us. I said who, not what ( the Brock pick was great and the MFC deserves credit for that).
  2. Not yet lets wait the time out and see. I think I can say this without fear of being howled down, except for the Brock McLean deal, the MFC has been pathetic at improving its list during trade week over the last 10 years. The last good player I can recall we got is Beamer on the back of the pick for losing Scott Thompson. We certainly didn't win on that deal either. If I have forgotten a great trade for us feel free to remind me.
  3. It is very interesting. If Adelaide trumped us by 2 spots in this years draf, I wonder what would have happened if we offered a player in addition to pick 12 and our mid ladder compo pick. Would a player we could have offered been worth more than 2 spots on the ladder considering GWS had the spot in between anyway. Also why have these deals been announced ahead of the close date. What happens for example if we do a trade with Port and get their pick 6 for our 12 and offer that with our compo pick. That trumps Crows but it is too late. That leads me to 2 possibilities either we walked away or they wouldn't deal with us. Maybe Sheedy harbours a grudge. If it is the latter I would wait and plan now to target players on their list coming out of contract and I would aim to hurt them. They are racing to the position of my second most hated club after Carlton and they haven't even played a game yet. I pledge now to never attend their stadium. Have read post 259 and it looks like we walked away. It is clear that if we had not insisted on a pick back or taken a later pick back than Crows got we would have got MD2 as GWS could have received the pick 14 given by the GC to Crows and we could have got a later GWS pick and the deal would have been done. We pulled out because we insisted on a pick below 25 in return. I hope we don't regret this move.
  4. Probably would have but we might not have wanted to pay that much.
  5. Am just getting the feeling we will be the bridesmaid again.
  6. According to the Age GWS actually wanted to get 2 U17 picks back with the promise that another pick taken would not be used on O'Meara. While it is clear that the AFL don't like the look of this it has left the door ajar. Unbelievable.
  7. Would depend on what is agreed in the deal. It also would paint us as a club that is not to be trusted and that is not what most clubs are about.
  8. There is a form of loophole but with a risk attached. GWS could trade 1 pick to us for example to use on Crouch with us guaranteeing not to take O'Meara. They then do another trade or don't but with the same guarantee if done. They then hope no one gets a priority pick below their first pick next year and draft him as he has gone back into next year's draft. That would be legal. Their risk is Port or someone else getting a priority pick before their pick for finishing last. No risk on them finishing last.
  9. According to today's Age O/Meara is off to GC and we will struggle to get Crouch.
  10. According to today's Age he is going to GC.
  11. I have to, my crystal ball is in for repairs.
  12. That's not to be sneezed at either. Also see my post 135 on JO'M.
  13. From Sunday Age : "There were suggestions yesterday the Magpies had offered three players in a package deal to Greater Western Sydney in a bid to secure boom 17-year-old Jaeger O'Meara, but the Giants resisted the offer." Could this indicate a deal has already been done, or that the players offered were not good enough, or that GWS want picks, or that there is another answer I haven't thought of.
  14. Lucky you, I check every few hours. What a pathetic life I lead.
  15. The one thing that needs to be remembered in all this O'Meara frenzy, besides the possible "go home" factor, is that Number 1 picks are usually not the best player from that year, when looking back after a few seasons have gone by. Would we better to go for Crouch and pay a lot less and maybe end up in an even better position, with him and another player taken with the pick or picks we retained?
  16. Has anyone on this thread understood that I was being facetious and sarcastic in my enthusiasm of AFL Radio?
  17. Herald Sun article sunday says O'Meara likely to go to GC, with us as only realistic alternative. It is interesting as GC pick 4 this year in a compromised draft after 17 year olds have already been taken makes pick 4 worth about pick 14-16 in another year. Our first compo pick in next years draft for example will be 11, the pick before the eighth team. We also have pick 12 this year and another compo pick after our first pick in another year. IMO we are far better placed than GC to deal and get O'Meara and even Crouch. We have two compo picks, pick 12 this year plus later picks and some big bodied players like Warnock, Bate, Dunn etc to play with.
  18. I started the post with"imagine the change to our team if" . I am not saying we will get one or both, but rather what it would do if we got both.
  19. Obviously loved by some on here.
