  1. He'd make a fine two-pronged attack with Nick Smith down at Balwyn
  2. Green and Miller the two standouts. Green gets my nod as he can do the job for 2-3 years whilst a long term leader is developed. I'd love to say Brock was a candidate but he's a bogan who's offseason was poor to say the least. You need to lead on and off the field to be captain of an AFL club these days.
  3. It's a good idea to attract the borderline and younger members. I'd like to see some targetted marketing for older and MCC supporters as well. Something like the 150 heroes dinner ad which was fantastic would be worth trying to open the pockets of those that feel they need some inspiration from the likes of Barass.
  4. Hmmmmm. I watched Aaron closely yesterday (he's in my dream team and I needed a good performance!). Appreciate him for what he is, a complimentary player and a fine one at that. His work in close yesterday, especially when the ball was on the deck, was a class above. His ability to get the ball at his feet and freely move into space to then offload to a team mate (without turning it over unlike many others out there) was exciting to watch. Unfortunately when the whole team is playing like crap that sort off work goes both unnoticed and wasted.
  5. Mostly agree with this post. Although, Wheatley may secure a 3rd or 2nd (at best) round draft pick from a club like Hawthorn who are in the window now and need more defenders. A long kicking player like Wheats would be perfect in their side rebounding off half back.
  6. Why does the MCC need MFC to be successful? I don't understand this logic. Plenty of MCC members out there despise the MFC and think its a waste of $$s putting money into MFC.
  7. aaah, nothing like a bit a well informed negativity to kick off a weekend....
  8. One of the best shows on telly. this week is the season end - u should tune in (wed night on abc).
  9. All of these guys have shown improvement which is good to see. At this point in time across the board improvement is all we can hope for for mine. In this light we should mention Stef Martin and Chip Frawley. Stef has been a very pleasant surprise and Chip (while maligned by some) has definitley taken a positive step this year. Things are looking up!
  10. I like chip a lot. going forward, frawls definitely - especially if Riv can't stay on the park. i think if he can add a few kgs, continue to grow in confidence and maintain his pace (which is above AFL standards for players his size) he'll prove to be a very effective player - capable of rebounding using his foot speed.
  11. i meant to have him somewhere in there. he'll find a spot, probably over peterd.
  12. Well, when 2009 rolls around he will be 25 years old. I don't think he'll ever be better than an average AFL footballer (if he continues to improve). I'm not saying get rid of him. I think his best option will be to play when we need an extra big defender. He's certainly no lock to be a permanent fixture in the 22 in my book.
  13. thankyou captain obvious. even with M Warnock out of the side there are 3 tall defenders remaining - not including Wheatley.
  14. This is my vision that turns Col into a Chris Johnson (of Lions fame) type All-Australian back pocket. FB: Sylvia Martin Garland HB: Wheatley Rivers C.Johnson C: Green Mclean Petterd HF: Morton Bate Davey FF: Wonaeamirri Miller Robertson Foll: Jamar, Jones, Moloney Int: Dunn, P.Johnson, Bartram, Buckley Emerg: Grimes, Bell, Whelan, Warnock
  15. I can't think of any other reason he's been getting a game
  16. easy. get rid of Warnock. his brother will have joined the dees by the time this side takes the field so there would be no more point in playing him.
  17. In a perfect world I'd like to think that Riv would be fit enough to play and be that 3rd tall. That way Nathan could rip it up in the VFL where he belongs
  18. member since 97 after I didn't have a voice in the merger vote. never again.
  19. I'd love to get along celebrate this milestone but I'll be interstate. I'll forward this on to others I think will be interested. Obviously a wonderful cause and great opportunity to show support for the club.
  20. The millenium was 8 years ago. Are you complaining about the concession options available to students today or back then?
  21. We had Wheels on our table at the dinner and everyone let him know how stiff (I reckon insulted) he was not to be included in the list....
  22. Not sure if you've ever seen Paul Johnson play with a comment like that... I think he's taken 2 contested marks in the last 18 months of footy. Just because the guy is massive doesn't make him a target (sadly). His best posessions are when he's on the run. Bit of a concern when you are 6 foot 6.
  23. The game was a Melbourne HOME game. They should play the theme song 100 times before every home game in my opinion. They should also drape red and blue across every possible spare inch of space at the ground and they should fly MFC flags from every possible flag pole in sight. Call it a dream but it was nice to actually have a home game feel like one for once.
  24. You sure they're not showing it on Main Event? I lived in Qld the last 4 years and that's what they'd normally do when this sort of scheduling occurred.
  25. In the current environment I'll take his occasional errors in the spirit of backing a young player who's trying to learn to run and carry at this level. Having said that, I can't remember a less interested player when the ball is in the opposition's hands. If he can't develop a defensive side to his game then he'll never cement a spot in the team.
