WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB – JAKE MELKSHAM
ding replied to Theo's topic in Melbourne Demons
So you admit he had a choice. My point exactly. We are apparently throwing piles of cash up in the air to attract anyone who wants to grab it, and everyone else so far has said "no thanks". Here is a bloke who didnt say that. I repeat..... Welcome Jake -

He chose our club when most others wouldnt. (regardless of money/contract etc) Get around him. Welcome Jake. -
Hey i live in shitterton, ....um.... i mean Shepparton
-
Hogan could do both knees and start taking lifestyle advice from Ben Cousins, Harley Bennell, and Brendan Fevola, and other teams would STILL be interested......
-
Yes, but thats what i said in my previous post. We would both be taking a risk, but the simple fact that people would need to scratch their chin before deciding yes or no says to me that its a fair trade.
-
Did you mean Watts, Howe AND our pick 6, for Prestia and Bennell? ( +/_ second rounder) If so i could also be convinced, but i might even go as low as their 3rd rounder back as MFC at least know what we would be getting in that trade. And lets face it, unless pick 6 for them turns out to be a very good player, we would be in front easily.
-
I thought you have me on "Ignore" bloke .... lol Gotta give something to get something. That is as close to a fair trade as i could come up with. We get a player who is recovering from a serious injury, along with a player with MASSIVE talent, but questionable application, and the Coasters get a marketable high flyer (who incidentally i rate as being above average if he applied himself) and 2 high picks to replace the losses they have recently suffered. We both take risks, but also stand to be rewarded if things come off. Win-Win if ever there was a trade with those properties i reckon. The fact that peeps would pause before saying YES or NO makes me believe that it is realistic.

OK, so if we could convince Prestia to come to us, and he was happy to play alongside Bennell, would anyone consider Howe, along with our first and second round pick, for Bennell, Prestia and their second rounder? Actually it would probably take us accepting their 3rd rounder instead... that would give us Prestia, Bennell and pick 44 ish (before compo picks and assuming he is adamant he will give us his best) for Howe, pick 6 ish and pick 24 ? I would be very tempted as it would give us an immediate and large talent boost, for Howe and 2 speculative picks. Thoughts?

LOL nah mate, i edited that post several times coz my vision isnt too good atm.. Tyson was probably added while you were typing your reply. (The first 3 tries mentioned Stretch twice , and not Tyson lol)
-
Gimme Johnny Green any day. *hic
-
I did mention Tyson, but maybe it got lost amongst my multiple edits ... :v I rate him very highly despite the average year he just had.

Imagine how good a player we would have if you could put the heart and desire of Toumpas into the body/skillset of Watts...... I weep for both of these players for different reasons. Watts has the skills and footy brain to be in the top 20 players in the comp, but he doesnt (comparatively to the actual top 20) give a [censored] about the results of a game he plays in. Toump, who i have slammed on here for being a 'Tard who panics when he has the ball, has a desire and will to succeed that is rivaled by very few players on our list (Personal opinion only as i cant read minds) I want both of then to not just succeed, but excell coz they both wear the jumper of the team i barrack for. As much as i wouldnt currently care if either was traded to improve our list, if i had to pick one to stay it would be the bloke who hurts when we lose. PS i want us to get Redden.

Dangerfield to MFC for me, was a wet dream. Of course it was never even a remote possibility unless we totally screwed ouselves over and risked losing the few decent players we have, by offering a Mega contract greater than Franklins... I have tried to look at both sides of this argument (sober and not so sober) and i have come to the following conclusion.............................. MFC need to improve rapidly to give a reason for Hogan to stay. (Lets be honest, its all about The Hulk nowdays as he is the closest thing to a sure bet we have seen for decades). How do we do this? IMPROVE RAPIDLY Now we can hope* for a big improvement from the guys we think have the potential to be genuine A grader. I mean the likes of Brayshaw, Petracca (If he comes back strongly) and ANB, with strong support from Stretch, Frost, Tyson and Kent (I love this bloke coz he has a bit of carnt about him) I deliberately leave out the likes of Trenners and The Toump as they are in my mind "hail Mary's". If they all improve next year (And thats going against history as there are usually some who stagnate or go backwards), we MIGHT show enough to beat off a Multi Million dollar deal for Hogan from just about every other club in the league. Without doing a Franklin like deal to draft a Gun, this leaves big money to keep Hoges, and perhaps a couple of others if they are happy to settle for big bucks, but not necessarily success. OR We go for a genuine top 5 player in the game, putting most of our eggs in the one basket, and hope like hell that one player can improve us enough to keep the others interested.. OR We try to target 2 very very good mids (Or one mid and a forward like McCarthy) to do the same thing. Or 2 of Bennell/Prestia/O'Meara One scenario leaves all our eggs in the one basket, the other sees us spread the risk so to speak. I personally believe the second scenario is the way forward as it give us a better chance of improvement than relying on a single player to turn us around. (See Sydney and the probs Buddys contract has caused) Anyway, sorry for all the brackets, and probable typos but im full of red wine and dreaming of a better future. In all of this i have not considered how we would get these players, so dont hang me for suggesting my preference without knowing how the trades would work. Am i on the right track ?

If the old man was talking up the young pups at the club, that would obviously be an opinion reinforced by Jesse himself. This makes me happy. Jesse is the ducks guts as far as i am concerned.
-
I bet he does. He would be absolutely embarrassed by that.
-
Cant wait for the sugar coaters to tell us how much we have improved.... Lemme get in early. GF
-
MFC = absolute joke. Just fold already
-
lol Ethan needs to grow a pair. Sook
-
And they wont be getting my money until they play like footballers who GAF. I know there are thousands like me. Club only has itself to blame.
-
We have scored 2 goals 4, half way through the third qtr. Against CARLTON. I can taste the improvement
-
By the way, we are now down by 53 points... Memberships cant fix what we have become.
