  1. i am in melbourne on holidays and want to see the dees at the junction oval on friday 3rd april, thing is i dont know where it is, can someone provide the address and is anyone else going down?

    Hi Bruce,

It is on Lakeside Drive in the Albert Park Lake complex just of Fitzroy st in St Kilda. Corner Queens Road & Fitzroy Street, St Kilda, VIC 3182‎

Easy enough to find, look for the oldest most run down small stadium on the area and your there, couple of school portables tacked on the side...

  2. Out: Spencer, Dunn

    In: Martin, Sylvia

Got exposed for lack of contested marking ability - Martin and Sylvia should help remedy that situation.

Martin may provide as much of a contest in the ruck and around the ground as Spencer did, with the added benefit of providing an option forward - Look forward to seeing more of Spencer if the Martin 'pitch hit' in the Ruck experiment fails badly.

    Still unconvinced by Dunn.

Liked what I saw of both Bennel and Jetta - Would like to see them on the big stage.

Bruce is on borrowed time - Bring on the youth Policy.

Considering Dunn didn't play at all on the weekend so interesting he didn't convince you.

  3. Jetta dropped???? Thought he did enough to hold his spot.

Doubt there will be many changes this week, not many coming back in to have selection issues this week even though a couple of players battled. Also one week is a little early to drop someone unless they played completely against Yoda's instructions ie Newts last year rnd 1.

Also I thought Morts was well below his best on Sunday, just looked lost out there which for mine was the biggest worry from the game.

  4. Whether its fitness, sloth or some form of leprosy, that's the third time in five matches this year including the preseason that we've been flogged in the last quarter when the game was up for grabs. The players should be more disappointed with the end scoreline than the supporters today. They owed themselves momre than that after an improved effort in the first three quarters.

I thought it wasn't just last qtr it was stages of every qtr that is what is so annoying. The amount of times North easuly moved it up the ground to there f50

  5. Miller > Bate

In the 4th qtr ball bombed long into f50... miller under it.... Bate backs back and goes for it too.. spoil each other North player stays down.. rebound easily out.

Very similar players, niether is going to improve from where they are. Not many options at the minute.

  6. we fell away in our skills and decision making as the game went on.

Our forward line is a shambles and doesn't get good service from midfield and our structures and positioning were poor.

I saw one ray of light out at Casey yesterday in the form of Addam Maric

Skills for a team who has focussed on them over summer were worst in the comp again. Yet we have improved on last year.... Turn overs from both hand a foot were horrible still. Needs to improve yet more for us to win any games. Which I think we will during the season.

    Our midfield is pedestrian

It should not be a suprise that our forward line was poor. It has been raised all preseason and there is no answer until Jurrah and Watts and whoever else we draft are ready...

So slow today... across the ground especially when we did not have the ball, Davey and the Jet (Jetta) were probably the only ones who showed pace as mentioned Wonna and Maric will lift that but we are still a draft off the pace I think. Not many others with pace we can bring in.

pretty hard when everyone up forward is standing still or behind,

How frustrating is this to see!!!! When we do bring the ball up field the lack of movement is the same as last year! Shocking. Just no one running to create space or running into space gets me grumpy every game. When we do that we look like a decent side. Needs to improve.

I noticed a fair few players today hang off their opponent too much.

We allowed too many Roos players to get on their own (unecessarily) because our players preferred to stay loose once the ball was out of their zone and when it came back their opponent had the jump on them. We still have a lot of slow players off the mark which the Kangas showed up, they were quite quick off the mark and ran in organised/logical lines from stopages.

We got a fair bit of it in the middle but players just didn't know where to go and we rarely had options going forward especially in the last quarter.

The hang off was also frustrating the lack of desire/smarts/fitness to cut off the open spaces ggrrr.

But overall we were more "competitive" but not for long enough, our skills will hopefully improve as the match fitness improves.

    Go Dees onwords and upwards.

PS saw Watts in the suit having a feed talking to people and having a laugh can't wait to see him out there charging around.

  7. it was either lack of fitmess or complete and utter laziness. The number of times we let North players lead us to the ball whilst we were jogging after them was a highlight for mine. Disappointing for mine since the early start was highlighted so much.

  8. Frankston 12.15.87 defeated Casey 12.12.84

Ball was going into Casey's forward line as the siren sounded.

The Scorpions left their run just a little late. They allowed Frankston to break away to a three goal lead early in the final term. Players like Sylvia, Newton and Valenti all lifted but the team probably didn't deserve to win because of their poor start.

Jurrah and Maric sat out the last quarter, the latter being an outside chance of playing AFL in the next couple of weeks.

Wall was the best Casey player. We also saw a very good debut from NT's Pierce Liddle who looks to have a promising future. The team missed skipper Matthews as well as Austin Wonaeamirri who pulled out with hamstring soreness.

Mate did Liddle play ressies last week for Casey? Looked a step above that class. Veryvery disappointing bout Aussie. Especially having two hammies so close together. I hope it is something he can get on top of and it not be a continual problem over his career.

Was Maric injured to sit out the last or just needing more match fitness after his delayed start from his hip problem? He is very exciting and will be a regular goal kicker and excitment machine for us this season.

  9. Can not wait to jump off the train full of anticipation on the stroll to the G with excitment in the air. Wander off and have a couple of beers whilst walking round the G. Sit in the sun and scream myself silly in joy, frustration, at silly umpires and joy hopefully at a Dees great win.

  10. After conceding the first goal of the second quarter, the Scorpions lifted. The comeback from Casey was sparked by a couple of nice goals from Jurrah and a clever goal to Maric who is a class above most of the others on the ground. Newton and Bail got a bit of the ball and Meesen who is improving as the game goes on, won plenty of hit outs.

A couple of moves - Zomer is playing down back while Stef Martin is playing forward with the odd run on the ball. Shane Valenti is getting his hands on the footy but is not always effective. The Scorps are getting a bit of drive from newcomer Pierce Liddle from NT. Nick Scanlon looks to be a dangerous player up forward. Peter Faulks and Ben Waite doing well for Casey.

A late goal to Frankston sees them holding a 14 point lead - 7.7.49 to Casey 5.5.35.

KC is Wonna not playing at all today?

  11. Can't wait to see Maric back in the team - maybe next week.

Anyone remember that freak impossible goal he almost kicked on the boundary V Richmond in rd 22 last year.

The boy can smell a goal.

After seeing him last week was a little disappointed he didn't get a game for MFC. Think he might need a couple of runs at Casey to get the fitness up a bit more but he is very exciting.

  12. I have raised CAC on here early last year for what I thought was some poor recruiting or maybe more of the fact people see him as some kind of supserstar recruiter yet the players he picked, in my mind, don't back that up. YET it is a touch early to jump on CAC just yet, how long has he been there for? This his 2nd recruiting class?

  13. 100% right!

    Membership and merchandise!

Our merchandising department needs an overhaul though. It is shikes! We are losing out on alot of money here.

They need to take a look at what the US Sports put out there!

It will make a huge difference to our financial situation if they can get it right. HUGE!

Agree DT our merch is 2nd rate to say the least. Most of the stuff I wouldn't buy for my blind bed ridden grandpa (He is a blues supporter so I do buy him stuff every now and again, he doesn't even know he is wearing dees gear!!!) The site is looking a lot better but is still slow to load and some of the products just scream are you serious.. the new garden gnome? They have the 3-peat in the 50's WEG poster and the 2007 team poster??????

There is one thing on there I'd buy, the FUBU hoodie.

Apologies if this has been mentioned before...but what chances RudeBoy of getting the band together and putting on a special concert? (I admit I have no idea of how hard/easy or practical that would be).

at the Bentleigh club? Maybe Jurrah can get on the guitar as well...

  14. I don't think they're selling any Cards, which is disappointing. Though my B'day is mid-April, so it could turn out well ;)

Thanks chief, was hoping I might sneak in two jumpers, one with no sponsors logos and one with. Will wait for the new ones I can wear to footy training and have the boys give me sh.ite for. GO dees ;)

  15. I thought for a bloke who was clearly not 100% fit Fev's game was awesome, he set their win up with their opening goal. I loved his attack on the defenders, if Watts could add that type of desperation to his game I'll be very pleased.

I don't think we have seen enough of JW to suggest he doesn't have that as part of his game do we?

I'm stunned at how little people talk about Fev. For mine he's easily the best genuine Full Forward running around.

When his minds right and he is not leaning on a fence.... agree.

  16. i rang the megastore last week and they said that they would take about 6 weeks to put the sponsors on, & get them into the shop.

Does that mean they have sponsorless jumpers on sale or still the old sponsors?

  18. Particularly if the Saints decide to dump the Zebs and realign with Frankston once they get down there – then where will the Zebs be?

Read something in todays Age about the AFL looking to "take over" more of the running of the VFL, this could be a moot point for all alliances as the AFL are (from reading the article) looking to establish an "eastern seaboard 2nds comp", the VFL is dead against the changes being planned. The alliances might be in trouble if the AFL takes away funding and places it money into this potential new 2nds comp...

  19. The only problem with that is the player in question looked like he was wearing #73 which according to the player's list makes him Aussie Wonaeamirri, doesn't it? ;)

If it was within the first 5-10 mins on the clubroom wing then it was Aussie, was almost right in front of where I was sitting having a beer. The handball was not quite right and turned over but the pick up and turn was great to see.

  20. The pool is more than half finished; it's almost completed and will be open in June. It's just about finished, and then there's commissioning and training of staff etc. It'll blow your mind when you get inside it, whether you're a kid wanting excitement on the water slides, a little tot in the kids water playground area, seriously after fitness in the main pool and gymnasium or lying back in the sauna and steam rooms.

One of the Commonwealth Games fish sculptures is inside on a wall.

Works on a covered spectator standing area, toilets and a kiosk on the outer side start within the next couple of weeks.

Yea the "half finished" comment was made from driving past it twice.... It looks like it will be fantastic!! If I lived in the area I would be absolutely stoked about the sporting facilities on hand. ha ha and I did think at one point gee wiz I'd love to have a go on those water slides even though I'm 31!!!

And I did hear a couple of the locals on the balcony mention there is something close to a $1mill in the banl just waiting for MFC to sign off on the deal with the Scorps for them to spend on the outer facilities but didn't want to mention it as 3rd hand info.

Overall it is a great place to go and watch footy from, loved the social rooms.

One thing that amazed me is how young VFL sides are now days. I recall watching some VFL back in the 80's, 80's and even 00's and you would have blokes playing well into there 30's, the oldest player looked 24/25. Scorps captain looked 20 at the oldest!
