That has to be one of the worst membership videos I've seen. Looks like something Billy has knocked up with the local primary school. Hardly motivational.

MFC Training at Casey Fields (Friday)
Heart Beats True replied to alpha33's topic in Melbourne Demons
I went to training with my father who has never been sold on Jack Watts. What was apparent was that although he didn't look as though he tried all that hard, what he does do is done with a lot of ease and precision. He moves quickly, handballs and kicks extremely well and is very vocal. What Jack showed at training yesterday, especially in the leading and other forward drills, was that he seemed at ease and ran at his own pace while still executing drills at a high level. This doesn't concern me at all. I can understand why people perceive him to be not interested however, a little like Liam Jurrah, they operate at a different pace. WJ, in regards to Nicholson, he is only small in height however moves very well. He had a penetrating left foot which hit leading players hard and the resultant noise was very noticeable. At one stage Bate seemed to cop one in the head as it went straight through his arms. He seemed agile and was a standout in the handball game where teams handballed through goals without being tagged by opposition players. He was very quiet which is understandable. He looked promising. A couple of players who didn't really impress me were: - Jetta: his kicking was off and missed some very easy goals. At one stage he just made the distance from 30m out much to the amusement of Ricky Pettard. - Spencer: he looked huge but still unco. - Bate: still the same old Bate. He is one player I really hope steps up however he needs to find another string to his bow. It was interesting to see Tom Mc having shots at goal with the forward group. Maybe this is a new role for him. -

100% agree. Chatting to him after training he said he was very happy with life and, when training, he just oozed leadership and gelled extremely well with the young brigade - in particular Scully. He was by far the most vocal with encouragement. -

I went down to watch the boys train this afternoon. Wasn't a massive crowd however there were more than enough things to keep the kids entertained whilst I took in the training session. Here are some observations: - Watts and Greeny were having a goal kicking comp which was hilarious. They were giving each other heaps. At one stage Jack was right up against the fence and asked my opinion on the kick. He then told me what he was going to do and proceeded to slam it through the middle from a tight angle. Jack's goal kicking was superb. - Sylvia, McNamara and Liam were running sprints. Liam was gliding across the ground and looking superb. At one stage big Max ran in front of them and Colin said to the other two guys "lets kill him" much to the amusement of the onlookers. - Scully looked sensational in the handballing games. He and Greeny were getting into each other a fair bit. - The forward group were doing leading drills. Cook was impressive and has strong hands. He reminds me of an old-fashioned footballer for some reason. - Tapscott was running by himself and according to Jack Trengove, he pulled up sore last training session. I caught up with Luke after training and he said he will be back in the main group after Christmas. He is one very big unit - much to Trengove's amusement. - One player that really caught my eye was Nicholson. He is very quick and kicks a very low piercing kick. He looked very accomplished and also one to get excited about. - Beamer takes training very seriously and rarely looks to encourage other team mates. He just barked instructions unlike Greeny, Davey and Frawley who were very vocal in a positive manner. Ricky was very vocal and proceeded to hang crap on everyone and was always smiling. All in all, there was a good vibe at training and it was great to catch-up with the players after the session. Colin Sylvia was fantastic with my young daughter and I tried extremely hard to quiz Grimes on the captaincy however he just laughed it off. Jack Trengove is massive and said he can't wait for the new season to start as 2010 was a huge learning curve. He just can't wait to get going again. I can't wait to see him unleash. Go Dees! -
Cam Butler is a fantastic bloke. He was the chaplain at my wedding and was the nicest guy you could meet. He spoke briefly about his role at the club and it was more of a supporting role for players than a hardcore chaplain role. He also helps with players who were grieving with the loss of family members. Even though he was a chaplain, he never pushed the religious barrow too hard which some chaplains can do.

Couldn't agree more Stylus. We tend to get caught-up in youtube highlight packages and info being fed to us by ill-informed sources. Everyone can offer their opinion however lets keep it in perspective.

Here it is: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/the-future-is-in-their-hands-20101117-17xqp.html She is also suggesting Heppell at pick 12.

According to Twitter, "NM holding out for second round pick for Hale. Demons more likely to provide it, Hawthorn with priorities elsewhere."

The two unnamed defenders being thrown around are Cale Hooker from the Bombers and Goldsack from the Pies - if you believe BF and afl radio.
-
Apparently the unnamed defender is Cale Hooker from the Bombers - if you believe what is reported on BF.

Here you go: http://www.sportsnewsfirst.com.au/articles/2010/09/27/hird-to-coach-bombers-with-team-of-stars/ Bugger! He has done wonders with our backline. Who would be a suitable replacement?

After all the speculation, Mundy has signed a four year deal with Fremantle:- Mundy signs with Fremantle

More news on the Jones and Bruce front but nothing definite: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/the-buzz-why-do-people-hate-on-harry/story-e6frf9jf-1225920718084 BTW - I don't think Jon Ralph checks his articles before publishing. Numerous mistakes however interesting reading.

Green very stiff. I can't believe the Pav and Hayes didn't make it. Hall in the pocket is a joke.

One thing that never ceases to amaze me is the way simple things get blown out of proportion. On friday night, SEN were asking for people to sms in trade potential trade deals. I was the person who sms'd the Kosi trade scenario simply as a suggestion based on nothing concrete. At the time they were talking about Kosi and potential suitors, hence I sent in the Warnock scenario. The SEN team simply read the text out on air. There is nothing to the rumour. St Kilda wouldn't trade Kosi as they have invested too much into him. They do however need a solid defender.

I agree Moloney must come in however I don't know who you would drop. It is a massive test next week as the Hawks have had the wood on us in recent times. If we did get up, look out finals. This is our biggest hurdle in chasing a position in the top eight. Lets hope we not only win, lets hope we bury them. Nothing would be finer.

I thought Newton was good today. Worked up and down the ground, crashed some packs and showed plenty of niggle. Deserves a spot next week. Bennell's speed was great to see. The biggest disappointment today was Bruce. He was flogged early by a guy at the end of his career. He needs a wake-up call.

Casey Scorpions v Northern Bullants
Heart Beats True replied to dee-luded's topic in Melbourne Demons
If you read the post carefully on bigfooty, he said they are up by 8 (not goals - you added that) which is correct as when I dropped past at half time, they were up by eight points - 42 to 34. -
I wasn't much of a Ricky fan at the start of the year apart from his courageous nature however I think we unearthed a very smart small forward who uses his body extremely well and is a good kick. He has the ability to kick a couple of goals a game and whilst not a gun, he has become very handy. His game against Port this year was fantastic. I say keep him and send Miller to them.

I'm with you. I would prefer Jenny then probably Carlisle. Either way, at least now we have options.

Shaun Burgoyne walks out on Port Adelaide
Heart Beats True replied to Jarka's topic in Melbourne Demons
Confirmed on the Hawks website: http://www.hawthornfc.com.au/news/newsarti...33/default.aspx Somewhat happy with the result. He was over-rated for the money he was demanding. -
Scotty West was on MMM last friday night as part of the Bulldogs game build-up and he was asked about his current position. In the discussion, he did mention that a full-time job has been offered to him by Melbourne however he didn't indicate if he had accepted. Viney or West (full-time) would be great.

It will not go to Liam Anthony as he is too old. He's 21. Liam Jurrah or Chris Masten from WCE are the two possibles this week.

Whole-hearted agree. Robbo has been a fantastic player over the years and is a great clubman however his time is up. We need to move younger players into the side and he will need to make way.
