  1. Sheedy need a long break after his Essendon stint. He does look alot more, um, er, match fit these days compared to his last years at Essendon. His nose is less, well, red. He would have been a very poor appointment at the end of the 07 season. End of story.
  2. David King has a woeful coaching record in the AFL. I stand to be corrected but I believe his only coaching stint was as an assistant during the Wallace years at Richmond. Maybe if Wallace and King had demanded elite preparation and performance from the Tiges Hardwick would not have had to come in and clean up their mess.
  3. Misson knows what the Saints 1 and 3 km time trial were. Neeld knows what the Pies 1 and 3 km time trials were. Misson has clearly said we are not at that level. As for game plan Bailey played the flood well after it was obsolete and now Neeld has to teach the press and the spread as well as basic defensive ethos that we've missed since Northey. I think the 186 team was a tad worse myself.
  4. Neeld should make them do a training session on the SCG after the game.
  5. The progress is that Misson will get us up to AFL fitness standards and Neeld will demand his players become hard smart AFL Footballers.
  6. I have no idea what Dean Bailey spent the last 4 years teaching our players.
  7. Neeld and Co have alot to teach our players about the basics of smart playing the percentages footy.
  8. More facile commentary. It such a long walk from the Great Southern Stand to AAMI Park. Another journo too lazy or perhaps just too mediocre to look at the basic football issues that Neeld, Misson and Co are confronting and changing.
  9. Just another facile quip from a footy commentator. The analysis required to examine the challenges that the 2012 footy department faces fixing up the mess inherited from the previous footy department is beyond virtually all journos/commentators. For instance when Neeld says 'we have several levels to go' in reference to our fitness what he is actually saying is 'the players Dave and I inherited are going to take a couple of pre seasons to get to the physical level of the players at the Pies and Saints'. That'd be a starting point for an analysis of the Dees in 2012 but trite facile tracts we shall see instead.
  10. Moloney's manager must be hoping that other clubs were not watching On the Couch on Monday night. They showed centre bounce vision in which Moloney started off in a defensive position but lost his player pretty much instantly when the ball was bounced. Simply not good enough. The reality for Moloney is that whatever club he is at the coach will making the same demands as Neeld about the ways he plays.
  11. Misson came to the Dees with a reputation for conditioning teams that played tough hard footy from the first bounce to the final siren. That he has not been able to get our players up to the fitness standards of the elite teams speaks volumes about our fitness levels in 2011. Until we bridge that gap we won't be able to match the spread (ie running) of the teams that are at those elite levels for 4 quarters. Give Misson another pre season and hopefully that fitness gap will close.
  12. Both face challenges to add the hard defensive ethos that Neeld is rightly demanding after the unaccountable years under Daniher and Bailey. Lets hope they can.
  13. Neeld and Misson and their assistants are turning Morton back into a league footballer. Some encouraging signs from Davey too and even Blease and Bennell for Casey. Crucial for pace and endurance which is critical for spread.
  14. Effort good. Plenty of work to do on decision making with and without the ball and on the fitness level required to sustain the workrate. But we knew that.
  15. Mrotn wind free and effective kick i50 to Magner who....touched by man om mark..point.. again basic error
  16. Malthouse is making the defining point and one which I am sure Neeld understands and trying to teach our players. One player goes to player with ball. His team mates go to handball short release options for that player. Of course its easy to say but there are alot of judgement calls for the players to make. At least under Neeld we've started...
  17. Frawley had to kill that ball in the air. He misses ball goes over the back and Geelong goal.
  18. Great tackle by Garland on Chapman. Good pass to Bartem on open side. Pass to Dunn leading in front, draws free kick, good conversion by Dunn.
  19. Stringer goals for Cats. Too many Dees players attracted to contest at half forward instead of manning up on Geel release options.
  20. 38 points after we got to within 14. Real test of intensity, decision making and fitness. Fitness is a query even after one Misson pre season. As Neeld has said we have several levels to go fitness wise.
