  1. "We should have got 160 members at the first game." Why?
  2. We reneged on the Lexus Centre precint? More of a case of us not having the money I would have thought.
  3. you are surprised that we don't have more assets? Have you ever taken a look at our accounts? They have not made for pretty reading up until recent years!
  4. Great work. Its almost indecent how much I look forward to training pics!
  5. Preview is style over substance for mine. Waste their time and precious words waffling on about something calling Jenga or Zenga. Quite simply if in previewing the MFC in 2013 you discuss the changes from 2011 to 2012 and don't mention Misson and Jackson then I am not going to take you seriously because your understanding of footy is obviously limited. Footballers are athletes with ball skills and footy smarts. Getting Misson and Jackson to take care of the Athlete part is bloody important for mine. Craig'd be also worthy of a mention. Some of their calls on our drafting are questionable. They give Scully an X which given the compo picks we received is a bit odd, and they've also X'ed a few players a bit too early.
  6. Trenners will be fine once he overcomes his footy injury which indeed might impact on his 2013 season though to what extent we dont know. What we do know is that having 1 and a half Misson pre seasons under his belt means that he is better placed to salvage the season than he would have been prior to Misson's arrival at the club. Sure he did not seem to play with great zest last year but for mine there were 2 factors in that. 1 - The 2012 pre season was simply harder than our players had experienced previously. I have no doubt that Trengove would have been one of the players tackling the challenge of their first Dave Misson pre season with great intensity. In the shirt term ie last season - he was perhaps cooked. 2 - Neeld made it clear our game had to have the hard defensive edge that has been lacking since the John Northey era. Now that sounds simple to type and to read but in reality implementation by the players is far from simple. It entailed an almost 180 degree change in their decision making and positoning. For mine Trengove over corrected in order to ensure he was setting the right defensive mindset example which Neeld pretty much admitted.
  7. The way forward for players from remote communities is to play full seasons in WAFL or SANFL. It allows them to adjust to living in a big city and to the life of an elite athlete in 2012 and demonstrates to clubs that they are committed to giving an AFL career a crack. The challenges they face are obviously immense.
  8. Devo we don't have The Weapon on our side. Guess we will have to make do with Misson.
  9. Why would anyone believe anything Greg Denham says about the Dees? Watts has elite speed and endurance, a good footy brain, soft hands, elite disposal, can win his own ball and can take a contested mark. Has he realised his potential yet? No. Yep he did not comprehend the professionalism required to realise his potential until the arrival of Neeld, Craig, Misson and Co. He has now had 2 pre seasons and 1 season under their tutelage and is fitter and stronger as a result. I am pretty excited about what season 2013 holds. Adam Goodes is a fine example of a young player seen as soft who turned that perception around and so is our very own Brad Green. Trade him to Norf for a second round pick? Shurely we'd have to throw in Mitch Clark as a sweetener!
  10. Poor Greg is still [censored] off that Mitch Clark is at the Dees when Greg wanted him to go to Freo. Just cannot bring himself to say or write anything positive about the Dees. A right [censored] of the highest order.
  11. Has now had 2 pre seasons under Misson. Davey had to build a better endurance base and he could have had no better fitness guy to assist him than Misson. He seems to have layed a good base pre Christmas and hopefully will continue his injury free pre season. For mine he will go into this season with greater confidence in his fitness and body than he has had for a few years. And there are even pics of him smiling again. Heres hoping for a late career renaissance.
  12. Suspend them for Round 1. Don't think Neeldy & Co will look fondly on players getting [censored] in Bay 13 and then being ejected from the ground.
  13. Saw Cook play for Casey a few times. He can actually find the footy. Can mark it and can kick it. Physically however he is a fair way off AFL standard. He might be a player who comes back into the system in his mid 20s if he can remedy his physical deficencies.
  14. I am not sure he has just one 'issue' re the Dees! He is still waiting for Mitch Clark to overcome a long injury break to run out for Freo.
  15. Mail I received was that Willy's 2012 MidField coach in the mix.
  16. The AFL already goes FURTHER than WADA in relation to so called 'recreational' drugs such as cocaine and ecstacy. Under WADA guidelines testing for recreational drugs only occurs in competition. In an AFL context this translates to WADA mandating matchday testing only. THE AFL and the AFLPA have agreed to testing outside of matchday for recreational drugs. Obviously use of so called recreational drugs is a societal problem rather than a an AFL specific one. It is interesting to hear people's arguments for testing AFL players as against other occupations. Certainly there is a clear case for drug (and alcohol) testing for those occupations that involve operating machinery or transport infrastructure like planes, trains and automobiles or healthcare professionals involved in surgery. I am sure others can provide more examples. It is enough of a justification to say that because AFL players are generally highly payed young men with celebrity status we need to protect them from recreational? Should we subject all labormark participants from say 18 to 30 years to a random drug testing regime because they are in the age range known to epxperiment with drugs?
  17. from Inside Footy 18/10/87 188cm, 81kg Clean running player who arrived at Box Hill this year from Labrador but is originally from South Croydon. Did pre season with Bulldogs last year and has worked hard on his tackling and defensive pressure - Paul Amy
  18. I just feel sorry for Cameron Houston. Probably had the most honourable of intentions going into journalism but finds himself having to write sensationalist tabloid fodder for the once great Melbourne Age.
  19. Dawes should improve at the Dees under a more experienced coach than Buckley!
  20. Adrian Battiston is Jonathan Giles Adelaide based player manager. Think we sold Battiston for somewhere around the $200,000 mark to the Swans in the 80s.
  21. Liam Jurrah's issues are issues of European settlement, The white man first arrived in Jurrah's lands in the 1920s. Good luck to him wherever he plays. And may his homelands be free of civil war. And may we respect the systems of meaning and belief of our indigenous peoples.
