  1. What if its not ie Pert was executing an agreed plan signed off by football department? The idea that you could float a player for trade and think it would not leak is still naive.
  2. Jim Cardwell says hello!
  3. its tiring following the shifting Oliver narratives. Todays narrative: Dees (everyone or some maybe Pert) - have encouraged Oliver to test market. Oliver wants to stay but is testing market. I'll be in my reserved seat come our first 2025 home game!
  4. Is that on the Dees or on Geelong, Connor Sports and Clayton Oliver?
  5. He substantially underperformed his high value contract in seasons 2023 and 2024 due to non football issues. The club devoted substantial resources to assisting him in working through his non football issues. Arguably we even prioritised his overcoming his non football issues over selection integrity in 2024 in playing Oliver when he was clearly no fit to play. At some point is it possible that the responsibilty for Oliver leaving the club lies with Oliver? The above does not mean we give him away or subsidise his contract but that the trade return, cap space and clean air may equal a pragmatic return.
  6. As long as we don't pay a cent of his contract and Geelong meet our trade value then its a deal. This may require Oliver to agree to a new lower value contract with Geelong that makes them comfortable in meeting our trade value be that picks or players. If Geelong are just tyre kickers then no deal. If Oliver is not willing to sacrifice dollars if required after 2 years of dramatically underperforming his contract then no deal. Over to you Connor Sports, Oliver and Geelong. Then we move on.
  7. None of the 3 exactly improve our speed and spread...
  8. 'two first rounders' could range between Pick 1 and Pick 20 something... We need to take Pick 5 to the draft. Port would be loathe to take a future 1st as with such an even comp its hard to predict where bulk of clubs will finish in following season.
  9. Perplexing as to why AFLM program has ignored Ireland for so long.
  10. I don't think Graham Wright would have an interest in being a lowly List Manager.
  11. Kennedy is treacle slow. As the game gets faster, spread and speed rule. Teams can carry some one paced players but not many, there is no position to hide them. Looking out our midfield mix we need more speed than less. If the Blues don't see him as a centre bounce mid maybe he is not a centre bounce mid. If his endurance is elite then maybe he could lay a Nibbler type role but its not clear that it is.
  12. We need to prioritise speed and spread with our draft capital. Cerra has looked decidedly ordinary at Carlton and is coming off a year decimated by hamstring injuries.
  13. lazy clickbait masquerading as journalism. move on.
  14. Treacle slow one position player in a game increasingly demanding speed and spread.
  15. Slow, one paced player. The game is increasingly prioritising speed and spread, and that is where we need to focus our drafting and trading. A pass for mine.
  16. Treacle slow which limits him as the game is being played in 2024.
  17. or was someone else with urgent motivation to construct a deal?
  18. 'keep a first round pick this year' First round will run into the 20s.
  19. Carlton fans are worried Walsh's ongoing back issues will limit his ability to play at his best and Cerra's repeated hamstrings will limit his ability to play at his best. Houston may find that it challenging to align Port's value on him with what draft pick/s clubs offer for him.
  20. Houston I don't have a problem with that. Keep Pick 5 or 6 and let Jason Taylor go to work.
  21. Ultimately the buck stops with Goodwin. If he can't get his head around the need to move the ball more quickly then its just deckchairs on the titanic.
  22. As a starting point: Out: Oliver In: Moniz-Wakefield Oliver is just not anywhere near fit enough to compete at AFL level so he should not be picked at AFL level. By picking him we've compromised out ability to win games this year week in week out. If its frustrating as a fan to see it one can only imagine that there'd be some frustrations amongst the playing group.
  23. Late career way past his best David Grant from St Kilda!
  24. James Peatling out of contract. Giants Nm 20 who has 28 possies on Saturday night.
  25. We're supposed to be playing for sheep stations. 3 failed seasons in a row. Team selection/balance, positioning, decision making/execution, ball movement and intensity all areas where sharp improvement is needed. If Goody can't get significant improvement to how we play this season then board has a decision to make. If Goody stays and we have another failed season in 25 then its the board itself that will come under scrutiny. And after 3 terrible losses to West Coast, Freo and Pies its time for some underperforming senior players to get a spell at Casey, or in Oliver's case the extra 4 - 6 weeks of pre season loading that its clear he needed after his 2023 and off season challenges.
