  1. Yes it does. The player of course has to agree. The Buddy clause is Buddy specific, or 9 year contract specific, and is perhaps more free agency related.
  2. Good luck to Jack at Port. I'll be watching Port games, hoping he plays well, and that he gets to experience finals. Market value is what the market'll pay. Jack is 26, played 150 games and should be coming into his prime. He is on the market and only 2 clubs show interest, one of which, Geelong, shows only lukewarm interest. That is the footy industry telling Jack what they think he is worth, and its less than the market value his talent warrants. He is the same position as Menzel, who scored 40 goals this year, but seems likely to have to accept a one year deal with a pay cut at the Cats. The lesson is simple. What do you do when you don't have the ball is as important as what you do when you have the ball. Both Jack and Daniel have ample skill with ball in hand, indeed they have more skill with ball in hand than a few of the Richmond Premiership forwards, but they don't match their intensity when they don't the ball.
  3. You can bet that Der-wayne will label Jack the recruit of the off season in the pre season comp games.
  4. There are not that many highly rated academy or father son players so less of pick rorting trades.
  5. Or Gold Coast tell Freo they'll wait till next year when Weller will be out of contract and its quite likely Gold Coast will have a very early pick in the Pre Season Draft. Always important to know your leverage in any negotiation.
  6. I suspect the first mentioned name may also be the tweeter you refer too...
  7. His point is correct. I was surprised that club did not have media ready to go. Miss opportunity.
  8. If he retires I imagine there will be a settlement of an amount lower than his 2018 contract and only that amount will go against the cap. It does seem a logical step.
  9. Reportage suggests they were one club that did not have automatic pro rata contract uplifts kicking in when the salary caps going forward were finalised.
  10. But thats just it. Skill and finesse is a natural talent. Without hard work that is all it is. What your saying is that Jack has skill and finesse so its ok to expect less from him in terms of hard work and dedication? What kind of example is that to our younger players?
  11. I think Goodwin wants 22 players with a competitive edge. That is what the game demands. Look at the last 2 Premiers and their manic pressure. See how Cotchin changed his game and went from good to great. Jack needs to change his game. He has natural talent but at 26, when he should be in the prime of his career, the market for his services is pretty shallow. Why is that? And no. Having Todd and Jack there does not seem to be a problem. Has not been raised as a problem. You seem to think its a problem.
  12. When I hear the words interprative dance I drift back to my Catholic altar boy career in the late 70s/early 80s. Girls were still barred from acting as altar servers so as a compromise they were allowed to make an interperative dance appearance mid mass flouncing round the altar wearing nighties illuminating God's word through dance. Made altar boying much more fun!
  13. My question remains that given Jack's natural talent, and the fact that he should be hitting his footballing prime why is there not greater demand for his services from other clubs? What does this say about how Jack is viewed by AFL clubs? Maybe Jack has done nothing particularly scandalous except after 9 years in the system he still fails to accept the reality of the lifestyle the modern game demands. To wit his comment in the video to the young fan may be emblamatic of his thinking. I'm an elite kick so why is the club showing me the door. And the answer is that the lifestyle and preparation demands are the same on every player even those with elite kicking skills.. I think Jack'll find that is Kenny's attitude.
  14. How many Demonland threads have cracked the 200 page/5000 posts double?
  15. Have you considered publishing a coffee table best of book of deleted demonland posts?
  16. A question I have never asked to this point in my life. What colour shoes do you wear with a burgundy suit? Not sure Jack has answered correctly.
  17. Front loading ie bringing forward future contracted payments to current year is not unusual. It is complicating return of Ablett to Geelong as he was front loaded $300,000 this year. Suns, quite reasonably, have said they want a Geelong contracted player to be traded for Ablett so Cats can pay the first $300,000 of that player's 2018 contract. In the end I suspect AFL will want Ablett to return to Cats so a deal will be done for a draft pick.
  18. The market sets the trade value of a player. What is clear that there is shallow demand for Jack's services from other clubs. Given his talents, and that he should be coming into his prime, why are clubs not beating down our door to do a trade? Our hope is that Port are going all in on a crack at a flag, as demonstrated by recruiting of Rockliff and Motlop as free agents, so they'll be pretty keen to satisfy the Dees with a pick in the 20s.
  19. Or Jack is finding that at age 26, when he should be at peak of his powers, the market for his services is limited. Think of all the Melbourne based clubs who dont seem to have expressed any interest. Maybe this indicates that clubs don't rate him that highly. Which is odd for a player of his skill.
  20. He might prefer a suburb adjoining Glenelg. Brighton!
