I’m getting the feeling that this is a VFL listed players only game.
-
Half Time: Richmond 11.3.69 to Casey Demons 4.3.27
-
Tigers leading by 41 points.
-
Quarter Time: Richmond 6.0.36 Casey Demons 2.2.14

Tigers with the first goal and the second … and the third.

So as Sam Edmund reports:- • Clubs must nominate a 20-player "Covid contingency list" by Friday. • A player can be taken from this pool to train - only if fewer than 30 players are available due to Covid & injuries. That player can only play if less than 28 are available. • The 20-player pool must be selected from aligned state league/2nd tier playing list, NGA/Northern Academy or designated standalone state league listed players. • If a club has less than 30 AFL listed players available, but this is not due to any player being subject to COVID Health & Safety Protocols, then the club will NOT be able to activate a COVID Contingency player.

Having seen the devastation of Covid19 health and safety procedures on Fremantle's women's team on Saturday night (not taking anything away from our team's effort but ...), I think it's not a great idea for the players to mingle with fans in crowds just yet.

Really disappointed that the report doesn't mention the couple of Casey Demons VFL listed players who kicked goals. This is a team game and it represents the Casey Demons. Club reports on these games should respect this fact and acknowledge the Casey players. Let's not forget that one of our best players in our premiership team and again last night, was originally a Casey VFL listed player.

Positive. The above scores include the scores from the reserves game of three “quarters” that followed the real contest that finished with the Tigers in front 110 - 92.

GAMEDAY: AFLW Rd 08 vs North Melbourne
Whispering_Jack replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in AFLW Melbourne Demons
Our Casey Demons VFLW team has made it three in a row with a 20 point victory over North Melbourne. Casey Demons 2.2.14 3.3.21 6.5.41 6.8.44 North Melbourne 1.0.6 2.1.13 3.3.21 3.6.24 Goals M. Caris, M.Chaplin, M.Fitzsimon, S.Johnson, C. McCrossan, B.Tarrant Now for the big one! -
So, the Demons have finally been knocked off their perch after the Dockers thrashed the Eagles yesterday. The thrashing in Perth assured Freo of top spot on the 2022 pre season ladder with only today’s Richmond v Geelong blockbuster replay of the 2020 grand final to complete the opening round. Fremantle 1 - - 141 44 320.5 4 Melbourne 1 - - 132 44 300.0 4 Brisbane 1 - - 138 49 281.6 4 Collingwood 1 - - 111 45 246.7 4 * Gold Coast 1 - - 76 55 138.2 4 GWS Giants 1 - - 126 95 132.6 Carlton 1 - - 67 60 111.7 4 Essendon 1 - - 81 75 108.0 4 ———————————————————— Western Bulldogs - 1 - 75 81 92.6 0 St Kilda - 1 - 60 67 89.6 0 Sydney Swans - 1 - 95 126 75.4 0 Port Adelaide - 1 - 55 76 72.4 0 Hawthorn - 1 - 44 111 39.6 0 * Adelaide - 1 - 49 138 35.5 0 North Melbourne - 1 - 44 132 33.3 0 West Coast Eagles - 1 - 44 141 31.2 0 * The anomaly of the round was the Collingwood v Hawthorn game played over six quarters (sixths) which ended in a 141 all draw but I’ve only counted the serious part which was the first three quarters that saw the Pies well in front at the not so final siren. The rest of that game was a bit like this series - somewhat Mickey Mouse.

POSTGAME: Practice Match vs North Melbourne
Whispering_Jack replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Meh … how many times have we won practice matches in February/March and gotten excited about the year ahead? I’ll wait for the real thing to start before passing any judgment on where we’re headed in 2022. -
The Suns would be spitting chips over the redraw because, if they were still in the running, they would previously have had a game v Collingwood which might have been the decider. Instead, the Pies play the Tigers (notionally less difficult), the Suns and Bulldogs have tough games against Freo in Perth and Brisbane respectively. It’s almost as if the AFL want Collingwood in the finals for crowd attendance or other reasons.
-
Yes - just realised that - well there is a problem.
-
The AFLW fixture is broken but it can be fixed. Some posters have noticed that in the hastily put together redraw of matches, the Western Bulldogs who have played six games to date, have only three games left on their fixture. Geelong have played seven matches but are drawn to play four more including the mysteriously unplayed Round 7 game v Fremantle from Sunday. That game is the key to the puzzle. It should be scrapped and replaced with a game between Freo and the Bulldogs which would then ultimately lead to all teams finishing the season on 10 games. The question for the AFLW is when to play the game.

If you go to the Demonland Podcasts there’s an interview from December 2019 with Jason Taylor where he discusses the players drafted by the club in November 2019 including Luke Jackson. Taylor says that Jackson was the first player his team interviewed for the year (in February 2019) and that over a two year period he played in 25 matches for which vision was available for them to see ranging from Colts to National Championship games for WA. Jackson was runner up for the 2019 Larke Medal at the National Championships. You’re right concerning the second part whereby clubs will be looking to add to their ruck stocks with mobile second rucks. Time will tell whether the risk taken by the Suns pays off.

I recently spotted Mac Andrew at a Gold Coast eatery and failed to notice any change in his build. However, despite the fact that we were led to believe he might be two to three years away, Adam Cooney is now tipping him “to make an instant impact in his debut season.” “He’s got every attribute that you need to be a star at AFL level,” Cooney said of Andrew. If Cooney’s right, this would be a remarkable rise to stardom for the young man. Why Suns young gun must “explode” and the top draftee tipped to break out

I think they had Choco Williams down helping out with the goalkicking last week. They finally got it right in the last quarter.
