  1. If it's Springfield, they're saying, "D'oh!"
  2. Went to Entrecote last night for a family birthday (booked prior to the stoush). Without diminishing from the severity of the issue and noting that the place was absolutely packed with diners, I was thinking that if a fight started at this venue, it should have been for the lack of value for the fare on offer.
  3. They didn’t
  4. Familiar pattern now over three weeks. From 9 minutes into the second quarter we capitulated.
  5. Time for the soldiers to stand up.
  6. Judging from the telecast I think it’s actually George Grey with the extra name in the middle.
  7. Not Joel Smith but Josh Smith, a ruckman/forward from Casey’s local area.
  8. I’ve felt all week that Petty was going to be a late out in much the same way as TMAC was given plenty of time to prove his fitness even though he was in doubt from the get go.
  9. Still going strong according to the latest Rookie Me Central scouting notes - #13 Finn Emile-Brennan The classy defender was able to produce some outstanding dash and drive out of defence, with a long booming kick. Though he made the odd rare mistake, when his kicking was on-point, it was deadly, and he was able to run hard in transition, showing clean hands and neat overall skills. Emile-Brennan’s best kick came in the second term when he was coming out of defence and managed to nail a long-range kick under pressure. He also showed strong evasion to avoid opponents at a stoppage, and always kept involved on his way to the second most disposals for his side.
  10. Unless we trade for a higher selection as we did last year.
  11. Chris Doerre on ESPN is being his controversial self here ~ AFL Draft - June Power Rankings: Fresh face takes top spot
  12. Not sure if there are any others although the Herald Sun (subscribers online) linked to games last year. I’ve watched games this year on the NAB League account.
  13. No. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1144945/melksham-to-miss-round-13
  14. Another consequence of Steven May’s actions ~ Melksham to miss Round 13
  15. George Grey goals 14 - 6
  16. My prediction as to the line up after the elevation of Mitch Brown to the AFL team. Josh Smith who was so impressive last week on debut is also out. He has been replaced by Roan Steele. B: D.Smith 43 C.Ellison 79 J.McVee 41 HB: M.Hibberd 14 D.Turner 42 T.Rivers 24 C: T.Woewodin 40 L.Dunstan 27 O.Baker 33 HF: B.Laurie 16 S.Weideman 26 A.Moniz-Wakefield 29 F: K.Chandler 37 26 J.Van Rooyen 21 J.Melksham 18 Foll: M.Daw 28 M.White 52 J.Munro 47 I/C: J.Bell 73 M.Buntine 71 G.Grey 68 R.Koo 61 R.Steele Emerg: R.Baldi 56 B.Milford 74 In: J.Bell K.Chandler M.Daw L.Dunstan J.Melksham T.Rivers J.Van Rooyen S.Weideman Out: R.Baldi M.Brown T.Edwards B.Milford H.Neocleous F.Rosman Josh Smith A.Tomlinson
  17. The world’s worst kept secret is now almost official. Brown is not on the AFL site’s Casey Demons team and, as stated above, Jack Bell’s name is now on the interchange list. If Brown is out because he’s been elevated to play for Melbourne, then surely he’s replacing Tom McDonald. A butterfly flaps it’s wings at a VAFA B Section game and it’s effect is felt at the highest level of the game!
  18. On those rumours about TMac being out and replaced by Mitch Brown from the Casey team, I can say that one of the emergencies for Casey, Jack Bell who was selected to play for Old Haileybury in its VAFA B Section game today, didn’t take his place in the team. Could it be that he’s been called up to fill in a vacancy for the Casey Demons caused by Mitch’s elevation to the AFL Demons?
  19. There’s a NAB League game currently in progress between Dandenong Stingrays and GWV Rebels with the Rays leading by 25 points. Our NGA prospect Finn Emile-Brennan has continued to impress at Dandenong and is looking more and more like a top 40 prospect which unfortunately will probably rule him out of our grasp. There’s an interesting player with Dandenong who is going to have to make a big decision very soon as to whether to go with an AFL or a cricket career. There are big wraps on him in both sports but I suspect that he might chose cricket in which case a baggy green cap somewhere down the line is definitely on the cards. His name is Harry DeMattia - he’s bottom age and he kicked two goals on NAB League debut last week.
  20. Back to playing like the league leader or back to the pack?
  21. Given that Casey are playing in the curtain raiser at the G, we’ll know about Mitch being out a good few hours before that.
  22. Well, you might have a point there. Melbourne had little to gain by participating in this draft. As I see it, the main Demons’ need is a ruckman to play understudy to Max and Dogga and, unlike last year when 6 or 7 were drafted in the MSD, only two were selected yesterday. Better to wait till the National Draft in November where there are more quality young players available. Other than that, there wasn’t much on offer at the end of round 1 where we would have had our choice.
  23. Unfortunately, not quite father/son material but Zac Clarke is a player to keep an eye on. His father Daniel was a beanpole ruckman drafted by Melbourne in the early 90s but he never got to play a game.
  24. After all that, these are the selections in the MSD.
  25. Anyone can pick up a player if they’ve nominated themselves for the draft (see full list on p1 of this thread). It appears Grey has not nominated while Ellison has.
