It’s been a tough start for the Casey Demons in their 2024 VFLW campaign. They improved last week after an opening round thrashing but today it was a W.

VFL representative team vs SANFL
Whispering_Jack replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
SANFL’s bigger forwards took control in that quarter to take a handy 17-point lead into the final break. SA 8.4.52 to Vic’s 5.5.35. -

Half Time: VFL 5.4.34 just in front of SANFL 5.2.32 in an entertaining game. -
VFL representative team vs SANFL

Quarter Time VFL is leading 3.2.20 to SANFL 1.1.7. Hustwaite (#26) and White (#27) have been getting some good touches. -
I watched the Port Adelaide vs Essendon game last night as a neutral, but also as someone who has a bit of a dislike for both sides. I did however, enjoy seeing Port tip Essendon completely over the edge because the Bombers have been unashamedly promoted in the Herald Sun throughout the preseason and into the first few weeks of the season proper. No coincidence that Mark Robinson, the paper’s chief football writer, is an Essendon fan. I wonder if we are now going to see a change of direction at the HUN and for someone among their team of journos to start questioning the culture of the club at the hanger?

Much appreciated but I was thinking of the advertisement that they’ve been playing constantly during breaks in the footy where a woman boasts about having been part of an iconic girl band but nobody recognizes her. It’s very off putting and makes me very happy that next week, I can actually enjoy the game in person and not have to watch it on television because, thanks to the AFL, my team has played three of the first five games of the season in another state, including twice within five days. There should be a law against this.

After last night’s big game in Adelaide there could be no better vision from the vault than Andrew Leoncelli’s match winner against the Crows ~

Given that the club has at least one and possibly two list vacancies, I would go for needs. One of our needs is definitely in the ruck and if Kyah Farris-White hasn’t shown enough by the time of the draft, it might be worth a look at Geelong Falcons ruckman Joe Pike.

The impact was so negligible that it is most likely that Kozzy will get a fine.

Despite our game vs Adelaide being telecast on both the Seven Network and Fox Footy Channel, both neglected to bring us Goody’s Post Match Presser. So here it is for your enjoyment, entertainment and edification. RD 4 | Media Conference | Simon Goodwin

There’s one thing about winning a game when you also finish with a free kick count of 21 to 9 against you. You can be really magnanimous about beating a team that has four maggots playing for them on top of 23 of their own, knowing they robbed us but we still won.

Mystery of the night for me. Who is the chick who was in one of the world’s most iconic girl groups but nobody recognizes her? My problem is that I don’t recognize her.

Based on what the commentators were saying earlier, we have the benefit of the wind in the last quarter. Could someone at the ground confirm that this is correct?

The first goal after half time is very important.

What they're saying over at West Lakes Boulevard
Whispering_Jack replied to Demon Dynasty's topic in Melbourne Demons
According to Professor Wiki, the term “hubris” describes a personality quality of extreme or excessive pride or dangerous overconfidence and complacency, often in combination with arrogance. Let’s not go too early on this.- 45 replies

VFL representative team vs SANFL

The 25 man SANFL squad has been named EX-AFL names among 25-man SANFL squad for clash with Victoria -
I’ve changed the title and some contentious parts of the OP. If Twodogs isn’t happy with this, we can delete the thread entirely. In any event, please be polite when talking about footballers from other clubs. They’re still human beings and it takes courage and lots more to play the game at this level.

One of the corporate sponsors of the South Metro Junior Football League which has produced a number of Demons including Angus Brayshaw, Jayden Hunt and more recently Blake Howes is the Grill’d Burger chain which has a promotion called “Mad Bunday” Members of the League which stretches from Port Melbourne to Mordialloc can join the Grill’d App and nominate their football team. If the team wins then you’re entitled to a free burger (on a 2 for 1 basis) to be claimed on the Monday after the game. Thanks to the boys on Saturday night, my wife and I lunched on a burger each. You don’t have to guess - my choice was the MIGHTY MELBOURNE (hold the bacon)!!!

I glanced at the figures on my App close to half time and we had a big lead up to then (I think it was around 17 - 8 in our favour). Since it finished at 25 - 24, it looks like Port got the rub of the green in the second half. Either way, I don’t think they can blame the umpires for the loss.

Alf Tredinnick - a speed Demon
Whispering_Jack replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
For the benefit of anyone distressed by the Speed Demon reference, it has nothing to do with the current controversy in the media and absolutely no offence was intended.
