  1. For the next 6½ hours it's still Saturday.Have I missed something?
  2. Is he the bloke who sounds like he's been inhaling helium?
  3. Finished 3rd and paid $2.80 for the place. When does it run next Redleg?
  4. I spent two years between the ages of 2 and 4 at Elmore where the family had a textile farm so it's the place of my earliest memories. The bridge over the railway station and picnics by the river. How does it look these days?
  5. Draft Profile: Darcy Parish
  6. Redleg, at what point do we start the draft countdown?
  7. If we hang on to pick 6 I don't believe we would take Weideman but if we trade out and end up with a pick in the mid teens, there's a chance that this might happen. Our priority is to get a midfielder and pick 6 in the draft would give us a crack at a highly touted mid. If, on the other hand, we trade the pick then it's likely that we would have done so to get a good midfielder and that would leave it open for us to look to a different choice with our first (albeit later) pick.
  8. Dom Barry is his name.I also believe that as a result of all of the machinations involved in the dealings involved was that we were able to take Jack Viney with our second round pick and not our first which would have cost us pick 4 (Jimmy Toumpas).
  9. The crux of the matter dazzle is that you weren't the only one who was asleep. Most of the other clubs were asleep during that era and even those recruiters who understood what the Swans were doing at the time were sceptics so by the time the world woke up to what was happening, the horse had bolted and this sort of recruiting is now commonplace among clubs that have to rebuild their lists. In any event, you can't do it by relying on the draft alone which is the mistake Melbourne made during the Bailey rebuild - a mistake compounded in that time by our failure both to pick the right players and to develop them the right way. And after witnessing Melbourne's record over the years with landing "big fish", starting with Moore and Templeton in the 80s all the way to Clark in 2011, that doesn't necessarily do the trick either.
  10. Just as I thought. Had you picked as a closet Hawthorn supporter!
  11. I posted some Melksham highlights from the 2009 TAC Cup Grand Final on the TAC Cup thread. Melksham was arguably BOG in that game and it's clear from the package that he was something of a talent back then. I haven't been a big follower of Essendon on field but something obviously happened with Melksham in the past couple of seasons. I suppose that I'm speculating but it was Melksham who was named as one of the prime examples of Bomber players ... ahem ... "bulking up" big time in early 2011 when whatever unknown substances were apparently injected into 34 players at the club and perhaps the constant adverse publicity surrounding the saga has taken its toll. It could be that a change of scenery will do him the world of good if the chips fall his way at CAS.
  12. Paige Cardona sums up the situation pretty well as Bomber fans are doing high 5s about Melksham's pending departure:-
  13. Saints have delisted a few - no doubt will cause a proliferation of new threads but this is it according to news.com.au
  14. There are plenty of individual examples that might prove the point about NQR recycled players wrong but the one given above was a virtual across the board scenario which wouldn't appeal to me.
  15. I'd like to think that our list management team can achieve a much better outcome than that.
  16. Are you a friend of the Tremeloes, Mr OD?
  17. NFL

As a long time fan of the 49ers (whatever happened to Candlestick Park?) I'm gratified to see they're opening the season in Demon colours!!!
  18. Changing my name to Whispering Steve?
  19. Some of us around these parts attended the Crown Casino complex on Friday night but how many ventured out to Rosehill Gardens last night to attend what aught to be the pinnacle of the year to all true No T$ No B$ devotees - the unveiling of the winner of the 2015 Sheedy Medal? So just in case anybody might have missed it, here are the top 10 placegetters (well, actually the top 11) and, standing out like dog's balls, is absence of the million $ man:- 1. Heath Shaw (117) 2. Adam Treloar (98) 3. Callan Ward (91) 4. Jeremy Cameron (82) 5. Stephen Coniglio (75) 6. Devon Smith (73) 7. Dylan Shiel (72) 8. Ryan Griffen (64) 9. Shane Mumford (60) 10. Toby Greene, Nick Haynes (59)
  20. I hope the experience is therapeutic and doesn't cause any dramatic changes to BBO's sartorial excellence and grooming.
  21. Speaking as one of those shifty [censored] lawyers, I reckon that book is inadmissible in evidence on the grounds that it was published in 2009. The definitive publication of the era for the North Fitzroy push in the 60s would have been Truth.
  22. Hipsters didn't frequent North Fitzroy in the 60s, let alone live there in those days. It was still all working class and indigenous peoples.
  23. Ask him about the game at Waverley against Fitzroy in 1979.
  24. For OD, that an rigor mortis are practically the same thing. In his case it was never undiscovered.
