  1. Speaking as one of those shifty [censored] lawyers, I reckon that book is inadmissible in evidence on the grounds that it was published in 2009. The definitive publication of the era for the North Fitzroy push in the 60s would have been Truth.
  2. Hipsters didn't frequent North Fitzroy in the 60s, let alone live there in those days. It was still all working class and indigenous peoples.
  3. Ask him about the game at Waverley against Fitzroy in 1979.
  4. For OD, that an rigor mortis are practically the same thing. In his case it was never undiscovered.
  5. If you blokes are worried about things being quiet on this thread then perhaps it's time for me to revive my threat of closing it down again? This would ensure that RL comes out of his apparent self-induced stupor and also could scotch those rumours about Old Dee having reached the stage where rigor mortis has set in.
  6. Now what's this all about? Saints of St. Kilda
  7. From what I saw of him in the televised NAB Championships games from last year I would put him more in the Sylvia category as a player than a Darling. The word on him was that he had put in a lot of work to shed weight and build up his endurance in order to make it possible for him to eventually play in the midfield and based on his carnival and TAC Cup form (I didn't see him in the latter so I'm going on reports), he succeeded in that although he'll probably start as a half forward and work his way into the midfield over time. Of course, we all hope that he brings a different attitude to the game than Col who let himself down in that regard although the culture of all football clubs is much different nowadays. But a Jack Darling, he's not.
  8. I think it's fair to say that for the first time since this thread started that the MFC's stocks are higher than the Australian Test XI's.
  9. I hate flat tracks.
  10. Rogers really wasted a perfect opportunity for a big score and I guess I'll have to wait for the replay to comment on Clark and Voges. Starc would be a bad loss in the second innings.
  11. Even more distressing is this item:
  12. Redleg, you might be interested to know that according to the Geelong Advertiser, no return date has been set for Geelong "star" Mitch Clark who is sttill battling a calf injury.
  13. After tonight that would be the second most disgraceful display from umpires you've seen - surely?
  14. You can come to my place and watch those gripping final 3.5 minutes. I haven't wiped the game off yet.
  15. In that case you should detour and finish your world tour with a visit to fabulous Darwin for the as Weagles game.
  16. Our injury list was longer in 2009 and we were not only accused of tanking - we were charged with it and found guilty of employing a person who joked about tanking. So please, treat all discussion on this subject as deadly serious or you could cost the club $½m in fines and get the CEO and football manager sacked and Roosy banned.
  17. Wow. Starc has just turned Clarke's declaration into a touch of genius 2/1 after the first over.
  18. Do you think we would enforce the follow on if we had the chance? Can't see it myself.
  19. If you have a problem with another poster, you can report it to the moderators. Otherwise, if you engage in the same stupid behaviour, then don't complain when you receive a warning. Thanks and please stick to topic as requested.
  20. Hey Redleg, find any bananas in the Big Apple?
  21. Surprised nobody's commented on the current test where Steve Smith compiled 199 of the Aussie total of 399. Starc came on to bowl in the second over of the Windies innings and missed his hat trick but still got his wicket with the fourth ball of the over - Chandrika caught behind for a duck. They are currently 6/119 with Lyon 3fer.
  22. Sadly not RL. You were hardly mentioned at last night's weekly Sunday dinner, the main topic of conversation being Juddy's knee, the undesirablilty of coriander in oriental dishes and the poor service.
  23. Dunno about the funny cigarette stuff but you can forget about Mr Leg. Last I heard, they said he was deported from Columbia and is steaming towards Miami where he has an assignation with the Department of Homeland Security on our Queens Birthday. Redleg might consider himself red and blue through and through but by the time those boys get through with him, black and blue might be a more apt description.
  24. Long way from Bogata to Cartagena which is on the coast. I know someone who runs a banana boat up river who is very reliable and claims to have a cousin in something they call "the cartel" who might be able to assist. The contents of the boat would satisfy readers of this thread at least until after the bye.
  25. I agree that it was Starc who ripped them apart in the end but it's a weak tail and credit is due to the entire bowling attack and the fielding. It's interesting that the West Indies' 7th wicket fell off the last ball of a Nathan Lyon over - the 80th of their second innings. The new ball was taken immediately and Johnson bowled a maiden to Holder. The new man Taylor was watching this rather uncomfortably from the bowler's end and was out lbw to Starc first ball of the next. I don't think he could get off the ground quickly enough. A couple of overs later and it was all over with Starc taking consecutive wickets off his last two balls. I think there's always been some controversy about this but am I right in saying that Starc is on a hat trick even though his next over is in a different test?
