  1. The Demons kick off the long weekend with an open training session at 9.30 on Saturday morning at Gosch's Paddock. They then move on to Casey Fields for the Casey Demons game v Collingwood VFL. Some features to look for at training - • will Jack Watts train freely enough to satisfy selectors that he'll be right for Monday's game? • which players will miss the training session meaning they will most likely be saddling up in the VFL later in the day? • will we see Max Gawn and Jesse Hogan? • and of course, no injuries please!!!
  2. Fair dinkum unbelievable. There's really not much reason for me to read the Age any more these days. The sports section was just about the last thing left but without its better writers, Quayle, Connolly and Flanagan, all that's left is a couple of cricket journos and Caro who is not much chop on a number of levels IMO. RIP The Age
  3. Even with the extra $s through the new collective bargaining agreement, clubs like the Swans who are paying massive sums for the likes of Buddy and Tippett need to open up salary cap space and therefore some players will inevitably find themselves on the trade table.

  7. I hope we're not taking any comfort from the stories about Collingwood's injuries. We've been down that road a few times before and it's rarely panned out the way we would have hoped. It's 22 v 22 and a must win.
  8. It's a bit strange if it's the year to date because apart from Petracca, the only other player in the side didn't play at the weekend is Buddy. Surely a few Bulldogs deserve to be in there, not to mention Clayton Oliver and Jeff Garlett?
  9. A comment about Corey Maynard? I know statistics don't tell the story but for a convert from basketball he seems to be adapting well based on his numbers.
  10. Great result for us - of course we have to win games too but a victory in the next will see us in the 8.
  11. Looking like a Round 13 return for Jesse v Western Bulldogs Melbourne Demons forward Jesse Hogan 'unlikely' to return against Collingwood
  12. I think you've ingested too many bananas.
  13. By way of a postscript to the Indigenous Round is this story about what might have been ~ Revitalised Jurrah kicking goals in Alice
  14. Could you at least hang in long enough to arrange the annual dinner you've been promising to organise?
  15. It's hard to believe for those of us who were around back in the day, that 1987 marks 30 years since the demise of World of Sport, an iconic programme which began in the early days of television in this country and was a viewing must for so many of us every Sunday morning. There characters were larger than life, mainly lovable and with the recent passing of Lou Richards, most of them are no longer with us. Here's a piece from the very last show ~
  16. Still can't see them lining up anywhere near as selected. Mitch White and Jack Hutchins can play in defence and Ferreira is knee high to a grasshopper and won't be playing at FF surely?
  17. A vexed question indeed on a number of levels. One needs to consider the weather, mode of transport, train timetables if traveling by rail, traffic conditions and the like. Also the fact that we're not playing this weekend might be a factor in making your decision.
  18. All of the Melbourne Open Mikes
  19. Flipper's out for another week or so with a hip flexor injury. The MFC's injury list stands at 9 players:- Angus Brayshaw (concussion), Lochie Filipovic (hip flexor), Colin Garland (knee), Max Gawn (hamstring), Jesse Hogan (testicular cancer), Pat McKenna (hamstring), Joel Smith (shoulder), Jake Spencer (shoulder) and Aaron vandenBerg (heel). Players whose names are in bold are not expected back any time soon. The other's are expected back within the next month or so.
  20. That really happened???

  22. Will Sutherland who is captain of the Australian Under 19 cricket XI and the son of current CEO of Cricket Australia James Sutherland is one of the players selected in Vic Metro's squad for the under 18 carnival. An interesting choice coming up for the kid.
  23. The Victorian Metro squad has been finalised - here
