  1. I also echo my thanks and appreciation to our track watchers. I’m interested in Luke Jackson’s position this year. Will it be as the back up ruck for Max, a key forward or as a wingman or even a midfielder?
  2. He had the surgery this morning. Knee surgery for new Demon Ben Brown
  3. And that’s all she wrote. Dees 56 Suns 35. Now get me outta here.
  4. Not much scoring. The sting’s gone out of the game.
  5. Perkins gets her second - Suns trail by 21 points at three quarter time.
  6. That’s Hore’s third - lead now 28 points.
  7. Reply from the Suns. We lead 49 to 27.
  8. First blood to the Dees - Petrevski.
  9. At this stage of proceedings, Karen Paxman (sponsored by Demonland) has my three votes. Her attack on the ball is ferocious and she’s a constant avenue of supply to the forwards. I’m really impressed by the standard of the game. The ground is in magnificent shape (especially in light of the number of games played here last year), the surface is like carpet, there’s a light breeze and despite the humidity, conditions are great. The marking and kicking are so much better than in the first couple of seasons. Lily Mithen is also up there with Tyla Hanks and Hore and Cunningham are dangerous up forward. Daisy has been hovering around not doing all that much but directing proceedings with her experience. There are very few Demon fans here so I’m quiet at the moment.
  10. Hore gets slung around the neck and with the resultant free goals on the siren. Melbourne 7.1.43 to Gold Coast 3.3.21 They should travel up in game day more often.
  11. A nice piece of play by the Suns goes unrewarded when Perkins misses from straight in front. Then the Demons get a point.
  12. Another 50metre penalty and goal to Heath puts up 11 points up. Then a free to Cunningham for her second.
  13. My girl Petrevski #31 goals - she’s been playing well. Dees in front!
  14. Zanker marks and slots it through.
  15. It’s 29degrees and humid. The team flew up this morning. As the game goes on they’ll feel it. Dejavu?
  16. Strong mark in front to Perkins puts the Suns up by 7 points at the first break.
  17. Goals to Hore and Cunningham (from a 50m penalty) level things up. Suns get a point to take a point lead.
  18. GCS much cleaner with the footy early in the game. They have the first two goals.
  19. Football, cricket and journalism - Percy Beames was part of the Melbourne landscape for several decades - Percy Beames: a man for all seasons
  20. Quite right. He has two NAB Cup games under his belt as an underager in 2019.He's barely out of football kindergarten and some people think he's dux of the senior school.
  21. Beg to differ ... If I was giving Brownlow votes on the game the 3 votes would go to Deespicable for a fantastic four quarter effort in the conditions.
  22. Am up here on the Gold Coast and what a wonderful surprise - the Demons are playing their first game of the season virtually on the doorstep. Despite the attraction of the beach on what’s looming as a better day weatherwise than Melbourne yesterday, I will be on hand to watch the game and if she who must be obeyed permits, put together a match report afterwards. I could be a bit rusty because the last game I attended before this was a men’s practice match at Arden Street back in February 2020.
  23. Krstel Petrevski has come from one of the more remote parts of the country to play AFLW for the Demons. Indigenous AFLW players pave the way
