And that is where we are screwed. We laugh at the Dockers wrt to their contractual arrangement with Longmuir, but its actually quite brilliant both ways. You are essentially sackable at any point based on your performance and the club isnt held to ransom by long contracts. You perform, you keep your job like any other workplace in the country. Next contract we set with a new coach should be set with a 2 year guarantee then its a year-by-year proposition. So if you are sacked midway, you get the payout for the rest of the season. Whoever has been managing contracts for the club also needs to find the door.

Time to go Goody?
I know we have said to sack coaches ad nauseum, but in all seriousness with an interim CEO and President, how does this technically get done? Does getting Paul and Steve (zoom/webex or whatever) in for an emergency meeting tomorrow to vote and decide on the future of our coaching dept even constitutional given they haven't officially started? Does the charter / constitution allow for an interim ceo/president to sack the coach and gm of footy now? Surely there is a way to act now. The job is clearly untennable and the sooner we start looking for a replacement the better. There is no way on earth Goodwin is the coach in 2026.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
Our club will be put on the case study slides for all premiership teams to study on the first day of pre-season. It will be titled, Why its important to not get too far ahead of yourselves. Ok so its not a great title but my point remains.

MEMBERSHIP TALLY 2025
If anybody from the clubs administration monitors these boards. Just know that the MFC will be -3 next year unless the whole footy department isnt turfed. At the very very least, Goody and Richo gone. Im not investing in another year of this garbage. Those that tout "but you need to support the players no matter wat OR your not a diehard... " I hear you, but i will not sit idly by whilst the club doesn't make the required changes. if they are not willing to make the hard choices, there will be enough people like me that will threaten the clubs bottom line and 'encourage' them into action.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
Have to seriously contemplate a MFCSSHP - Melbourne Football Club Supportership Hybernation Protocol. Does anybody know of any fringe Psychologists who can adapt CBT methods to achieve such a thing?

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
Yes. But the EBA just says the club cannot force the players to do it. They can all sign waivers for all i care and demand it of themselves. Anything short of that and we know they dont take this game serious enough. It is the only way up and that is to to go through some really hard truths together. A run-of-the-mill preseason will not do anything. A new coach and footy dept will take years to turn this list over, but right now the younger brigade are - through no fault of their own- helping perpetuate this soft, weak and gutless underbelly. F. Me i thought this [censored] was done with...

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
Im not signing up for a renewal until that footy department including the sport performance team has been cleaned out solid. All of them can bugger off. As for the players, The need to be ready Oct 1 for a gruellilng pre-season. Starting with a trip to the Kokada trail with two bags of concrete on their shoulders. If they are not pinging hammies next year ill know that they didnt train hard enough. I have lost all hope that we will contend within the next decade. You could not orchestrate a more unbelievable downfall from where we were. Im in total disbelief. What is wrong with this club.

I hope we don’t switch off. Expect a few changed tactics from Ross, which will get the Saints back in the game.

Time to go Goody?
agreed with all that. If he does stay then we effectively have to bring in his successor over the summer as an assistant. Getting in a new Gm of footy has to be the absolute priority. Richos contract is up end of this year I think so hopefully we move him on and get someone that can drive the whole footy dept forward. To me this is almost more important that Goody. Whoever the new GM is will organise the program, assistants and head coach. He’ll have next year to do an inflight review and then have a better idea on what to do end of next year. Unfortunately all these changes, president, ceo etc will take time to settle and create some stability within the club.

NON-MFC: Round 20
I reckon they are mortified. I have a feeling that attendances this year may have actually gone backwards - i havent really seen it talked about at all this year. But aside from the big spectacles (Anzac, Queens birthday), i don't think there would be many games over 60 thousand in any state. I also think viewership would be dwindling as the cost of kayo is going up and there are no Saturday games on FTA. Add in the horrendous form of umpires and the many games where it has cost teams, inconsistency of MRO and the many issues around what is suspendable, footy act etc. When you then add in that the majority of Victorian teams are on the wrong side of the ladder - 6 in total and not one of those teams look like anywhere near having a genuine chance of contending in the next 4-5 years (3 of the 6 being powerhouses), then adding another team in Tassie.... Its no surprise they bought in Greg Swann mid year. That shows the seriousness of their bad performance.

NON-MFC: Round 20
i had to look it up to believe it. What the heck is North doing and why on earth didn't we entertain an offer like this. All we had to do was give up a second round pick from last year and this year for pick 2.I mean WTAF!

Time to start a rebuild?
Getting 1 solid 22 player is hard enough..let alone 4 of them. It will be near impossible IMO so its off to the draft unfortunately. If we could 2-3 first rounders for any combo of Trac, Clarry, Lever, May and Fritta, then you just have to take it. This is where Hawks were ruthless and just got on with business. If we try to make our next list include any of these blokes, then it will only slow down our rejuvenation efforts. I completely understand the difficulty it will be moving these players on, but there are a lot of clubs that are peppering on success looking out for any one of these blokes to make a difference and get them a chance at a final. North, Essendon, Bulldogs will be the clubs id be speaking to for anyone of these players. Fritta has a lot more appeal but it would be hard to get a first rounder coming back.

2025 MRO & Tribunal
it got a 50m penalty and all the wonderful media maggots agreed that was sufficient and so the MRO had all that he needed to look the other way.

NON-MFC: Round 20
Fin Callaghan didn’t thank the AFL in his best on speech. The kid is just an all round gun.

NON-MFC: Round 20
Cadman is the next Jezza. GWS gave up 3,12 and a F2 for it. Do you think that was worth it? North still got SheeEl and Wardlaw as a result.

May to Tribunal
Apparently it’s next week. If overturned we should get a weeks suspension credit. To be used at our own discretion

Trade Targets
That said we failed to capitalise whilst on top of the ladder and won a premiership. That is on the entire club coaches included. We got Grundy , which was applauded at the time but didn’t work - fair enough for trying. Other than that we didn’t get anybody of note. Not 1 person that consistently plays in the senior side. That is gross gross mismanagement. Ultimately it starts from the footy dept that took way too long to change things up and adapt to the modern game. Then when they finally did change our game style we quickly fell out of favour as a destination club and are almost left with no choice but to rebuild through the draft right in the middle of a new club entry. It’s going to be a long road to recovery unfortunately and one that may not proof fruitfull.

Maynard unscathed
He would not get a week. The media would use the Alex pearce incident (which is BS) as rationale to support it being a footy act.

Time to start a rebuild?
Heard this on the radio the other day Curnow >> Suns Trac >> Blues Jed Walter’s >> Dees. In a heartbeat.
