LOL I ran into Paul Guerra and the first thing he said was “Essendon is dead to me.” I’ve got him so well-trained. Then a girl comes and stands next to him. He says “Ghosty, this is my daughter, Daniella” and she says “Hi Ghosty, nice to meet you… Essendon is dead to me.”😂

Now let’s talk about the value of honesty. Goody gets nothing outta telling this publicly. He could’ve kept it to himself but he chose to share his recent reflections. Quite ballsy of him when he must’ve known there’d be folks angry at him for an issue that happened four years ago even though he himself has just come to realise it now.

I can’t see the point of folks saying Goody should’ve had a purpose after 2021. No sch!ttt captain/s obvious. He knows that NOW, he didn’t at the time. Someone even bothered to go into detail about what the purpose should’ve been… “… how about aiming for excellence, consistently being the best in the comp, winning a flag at the G, being the best Demons side, being the best team of the modern era…” Genius! Now, let’s fire up the DeLorean and go back to this day in 2021 to tell Goody this. The same person wonders how this was “allowed to occur.” Yeah, the Board, the players, the whole club should NOT have allowed this to occur, how dare they sit around and do nothing! I don’t care if they knew nothing of it at the time… they shouldn’t have allowed it to occur regardless. Holy Mary Mother of God… give me strength

Goody definitely wanted to stay and yes, he was 100% invested and he fully believed we could make it work and it would happen soon. Only a week before the shock sacking he said this to me: “almost every match we’re in it, we’re right in it. We’re thereabouts, almost every week.” And he thanked me for never losing faith when so many people had. Call him delusional, but he genuinely believed.

Short answer: Molly O perhaps? Long answer: It will be a young player since the seasons are now longer and presumably they’ll continue to grow in length. In the (hopefully near-) future players won’t have to hold a day job thereby leaving more time to concentrate on their strength and fitness etc. Another factor is that because there are now structured comps for girls we’ll have more girls playing junior footy, rather than crossing over from another sport. When you consider the first few seasons were only 7/8/9 rounds in length, it’s an incredible achievement for Ebony Marinoff and Ally Anderson to have reached their 100-game milestone.

Nothing can make up for missing out on seeing it live, but the premiership celebration on the 5th of December at the ‘G was probably the closest thing we could have to being there. 35,000 Demons fans, zero opposition fans, watching the entire match together was such a memorable experience. And this time Goody got to make a speech 😅

Every time. Actually, sometimes I watch from the start to see Tracc’s goal and then I go straight to the Bont’s goal. And the rest is sweet, sweet history

The 25th of September will always bring back memories of that beautiful day in 2021. Nothing nor nobody can take it away from us. It lives in our hearts forever. We’ll get back there again.

Who knows… Sesto might do a Deaks; in 2023 we delisted Deakyn Smith and now he’s captaining the Casey side. Whatever Sesto ends up doing, I know he’ll do it well. He sets a high standard for himself and he has a great attitude. He deserves success in whatever life has in store for him.
