Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Couldn’t agree more.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Completely agree. I'd rather bank the picks and draft someone who is going to structurally set us up so much better, than risking and drafting a midfielder that may be a bust. Lever has such a positive knock-on effect for players such as Hunt, Hibberd, Tmac, Omac, etc. We can easily get an outside midfielder as a free agent next year. If we are to compete for a flag and finish top 4, you do it by bringing in blokes like Lever.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
“Choose to pay one of the most down-hill skiers in Motlop over $600k, yet have the audacity to completely initially low-ball Lever then run around like headless chooks to try and retain him, followed by a wave of abuse towards him when he accepts a better offer elsewhere. No wonder this club can’t retain their players.” Look how similar my first sentence is with yours lol.

Brendan, did you just rip this from my Facebook comment on AFL SuperCoach? Legit word for word what I said in my opening sentence lol?

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Wow, Dwayne Russell really wants us to give up more than 10 + 27.. Absolutely cracking the sads on NAB Trade Radio.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
It seems Lever is pretty much a certainty to leave the Adelaide Football Club, but just thinking about after winning a flag with Adelaide would that make him more likely to leave now that he has won a premiership, or less likely? This question has sparked a bit of divided opinions with my mates. Thoughts? I say more likely.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
I even think its overs. I completely agree. What annoys me is that posters are touting lever as the 'best key defender of all time, a future captain; when he will be in his prime, then going on to just be happy giving Adelaide a 1st round player and steak knives.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
Why? Everyone is suggesting we trade 1st rounder + ANB for Lever. If the roles were reversed, and the Crows were offering a 1st rounder + a player of ANB's caliber for Oliver would we take it? Of course not. People need to take off their rose coloured glasses and start coming up with realistic trade options. Lever is a future captain, AA defender. Someone like Tyson is an accumulator with hardly any damaging disposals. It's a matter of need over want.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
OUT: 1st round pick, Tyson IN: Lever, 2nd round. Something around that ball park should satisfy Adelaide.

Don't forget Gunston as well. They've lost a load of talent.

Welcome to Demonland: Jake Lever
You do not, I repeat.. do not spend that kind of money on a player. You build a premiership, not buy one. Would rather look at someone like a Lesley to fill that spot and develop him. Frost came cheap as chips and he has started to develop into a key back for us.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - STEVEN MAY
Gold Coast may be wanting an established player for May. Hawthorn are into him also, but don't have trade picks to get him in so they'll look at sending someone of experience to land him. If we want him, we will need to give up something. Out: Tyson, 2nd round In: May, 3rd. I think that would be reasonable enough.

The Petracca v McCartin debate reprised
I think people underestimate how good he is 1 on 1. Reminds me a lot like Dusty where he is just so clean, powerful and strong at the contests. I would love to see Goody push our players up the ground and leave him deep at FF on occasion. Would back him to win it 80% of the time.

Brayshaw for Lever. Get it done.

Nat Fyfe
Fremantle should bite the bullet and trade Fyfe. They need a rebuild. Their list is aging and with very limited youth coming through. Hawthorn are on a very similar path, but they just have the leaders to win their games. Fremantle missed their window and need to start again. By injecting two first round picks this year in a very talented draft pool alongside luring McCarthy and Lobb if they can get them would set them up on an exciting path.

Billy Stretch Appreciation Thread
Stretch was fantastic yesterday. He really let himself down when he was streaming down on the wing and had 2 free players inside 50 and unfortunately kicked it out on the full.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Seriously, the kid is incredible. You only have to look at the way he burrows in and wins the contested footy and knows how to fire out a handball over opposition players to one of our running players into space. His awareness is on another level, not many players have that in the AFL. He is very similar to Cripps but more athletic and explosive. I love Clarry!

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Honestly guys..don't want to toot my own here but I have a pretty good eye for talent and normally call whose going to turn out to be an elite player and nail them more often than not. Clayton Oliver will be a star. Without a doubt. I have never seen a debutant coming into a fast paced afl game and having the awareness and aggression to match it with seasoned veterans. His ability to shrug players off tackling him to get his arms free to fire out a handballl is ridiculous. It's extraordinary. The only other young players I have seen do this is Patrick Cripps. Both of these guys will be A grade elite stars of the future. We absolutely nailed this pick to a tee. GO DEES

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Remember when majority of people on demonland weren't happy with the fact we traded up to pick 3 to land Oliver who thought he would have fallen to us at a later pick In Taylor, we trust.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
I'm not sure if anyone else noticed this, but Oliver did two things for a first year player that really really impressed me. There was an instance where he ran and collected the ball and was immediately about to get tackled. Instead of just running into a player and getting wrapped up, he picked up the ball and jumped into the tackler, forcing him to tackle below his waist. He was able to fire out a handball over the tackler to one of our players in space. Another situation he was perfectly tackled and had no chance to handball the footy. Instead of just dropping it cold like a lot of players do, he guided it to his foot and did a neat little 3metre kick from the pack to one of our players into space. It's smart quick thinking attributes like this you want to see in an inside midfield player. Can't wait to see this guy in the home & away season. Go Dees

I completely agree. Melbourne of Old would have just played it safe and drafted Parish. So glad we are drafting men now.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
Oliver's first game on debut he lays a strong tackle and gets reported for it. This is the stuff I like to see.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
He plays nothing like McKenzie...

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CLAYTON OLIVER
The guy is a monster. His number one asset as a player will be the ability to get his arms free and handball over his opponents to our team mates. Will be a contested beast.
