Changes v Gold Coast Suns
I was quite impressed with Smith. Created a few good contests and got a fist in at important times to kill the ball and prevent goals from being scored. Ordinary disposal, but has a role and playing it to justify his spot. Spargo can play alongside Garlett. There can never be too many small forwards to create forward pressure and intensity. Even if it's taking one of their defenders, this allows Garlett to be more free. A lot more dangerous worrying about two smalls than one. Didn't do too much against the Crows, but had a few good weeks before that. Doesn't get dropped on the back of one ordinary game in a winning side. For me, no change. Review how VFL team goes next weekend, as there could be some crucial and big ins against Sydney in Viney, Hibberd, Hunt, Kent.

Changes v Gold Coast Suns
I would like to see Kent come in. I had JKHâs pampers stamped at half time but he impressed me in the second half. Likely no change tbh.

Dangerfield Stages
What [censored] me off the most with the Dangerfield ruck nomination incident, is when after he kicked the goal and celebrated, he ran to his team mates and pointed to his temple to infer "Look how I just outsmarted the opposition to milk a free kick and goal." Clearly did it to exploit a rule and in turn, create an easy shot at goal and important momentum killer for them. For a rule that allows a player to do that is a blight on the individual and the game.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHARLIE SPARGO
I was in shock when he shrugged Marcus Adams off in a marking contest. Very unlucky not to grab it as it bounced off his chest, but he actually two-arm stiffed armed him over. Was incredible.

My 3 word player analysis V Bulldogs
Our team mates really need to help Frost out when it comes to his disposal. I noticed on several occasions, Frost will kick it to the player who is declaring for him to pass the ball. He doesn't anticipate or notice who is around that team mate, he will just do as asked. This is what Gawn did on the wing, lead up and declared for the ball, only to be surrounded by 3 doggie players at ground level. When the ball is in Frosts hands, his team mates should only be declaring and screaming for him to pass it if it's completely safe to do so. Otherwise point and tell him to go long to the boundary.

Run home to Finals - 2018
When will people understand that some of our best footy is interstate when our backs are against the wall? I donât know about you, but Iâm more confident against teams like Adelaide and Geelong away than I am against GWS at the MCG. We travel very well and were unlucky against Port who have proven to be a very good team at Adelaide Oval, the only team we have lost to interstate this year. Beating the Lions at the Gabba was a lot harder in retrospect than what most thought. The Melbourne team I know is the one that always proves me right. Lose to St Kilda on our home turf, but look like first class against a harder opponent on their ground. Expect at least one 30+ point win against Geelong, Adelaide and or West Coast. Go Dees.

Changes vs Geelong
Me too, think fitness would be a question mark over running out games? Unsure about the work he has done there but he would really lift the team.
-
Changes vs Geelong
JKH laid 8 tackles and had 4 score involvements. He would have done what the coach had required of him to earn his spot for another week. Depending on how Casey goes, might be Hannan for Tyson.

King: Oliver can be Dee's Dusty
I TOLD EVERYONE HE WILL BE BETTER THAN PETRACCA AND WILL WIN A BROWNLOW.. EVERYONE LAUGHED AT ME. WHO IS LAUGHING NOW HAHAHA Probably all of us are laughing, considering he plays for the team we support. Nonetheless, haha.

Angus Brayshaw
Very sensible for Gus to play out the season and up his market value. Imagine if he signed a contract extension at the start of the year versus now. Would be a 200k pay gap... Most likely juicing $ from his contract as much as he can before putting pen to paper if he continually proves his consistent form and ability, and rightly so.

Changes vs Western Bulldogs
OUT: J. Smith, Stretch IN: Vince, Baker

Angus Brayshaw
It's not the be all and end all if he chases money and goes to Freo to play with his brother. At least he has built up some huge currency. Would have hated to offload him for cheap and then Gus showing what he's doing now over there and we got back peanuts.

The Last Time They Met - Round 17
I think it was something to do with countering our midfield dominance? I remember watching in the media lead up to the game one of the doggies players saying they were doing a lot of work into Max Gawn and had developed some tricks up their sleeve, this may be what Goodwin alluded to? Which it obviously worked for them as they dominated clearances. Will be interesting to see how we go about working on that area which let us down in that game last time.

Changes vs Western Bulldogs
Granted ANB is our best and hardest distance runner, but for me, I don't see how that translates into being warranted games? It's all well and good to be able to cover the ground well and rack up the kilometres, but did/do you ever sit up and take notice of ANB's hard running and say to yourself "Gee, he worked hard for that possession?" or "Wow, look at that chase down tackle, he ran far to get to that contest" Kent in his games he played with us actually played a very decent forward defensive role, and kicked 3 goals in both games he played in. He was doing quite well before he got injured.

POST MATCH DISCUSSION - Round 16
Iâm not comparing like for like with player a versus b.. Iâm comparing what their individual assets are and what they bring to the team. Thatâs why I said âstretch adds more than Tysonâ itâs clearly a comment that what he brings to the table and our structure is more valuable to our side than what Tyson can bring. We needed more speed, outside pace. Stretch clearly brought that, which is why Tyson (with the attributes he has and how he fits into our team) found himself on the outer. If I was comparing players as you suggested âcomparing like for likeâ I would have said âStretch is so much better than Tysonâ which I didnât, because I donât believe he is. What I do believe though is Stretch added so much more to our team and our midfield and spread than what Tyson does.
