Simon Goodwin respect thread.
I’m guessing it’ll be when the board is fully turned over. If I were in his shoes, getting sacked with 3 games left after putting up with years of management turmoil and off field drama would leave me holding a pretty lengthy grudge against folks who seem more interested in self preservation than anything else.

PREGAME: Rd 22 vs Western Bulldogs
Wouldn’t be shocked if there was massive capitulation this weekend followed by a pretty big player exodus after the season.

Simon Goodwin respect thread.
Outside of his accomplishments in terms of wins and losses, I’ve always had the sense Goody is a decent person who genuinely cared about his players. I’ve never been a fan of the “tough guy” persona we so often see in footy, so it was a pleasure having the leader of our club genuinely seem to care about the well-being of our players and who they are as people.

I want the entire board out.

This presser gives me even less faith than I already had in the board. Bunch of rich, entitled self-preservationists.

Simon Goodwin Sacked
I hope not. Having done that work at one of those firms previously, MFC should ask for their money back if they paid someone external for that. That letter reeks of a comms team caught off guard and asked to draft something up on extremely short notice without the proper editing and approvals processes in place.

This club’s management is a bin fire.

Think we will find out a lot about how the players feel about the situation on Sunday. Would nice for them to dig in and make it competitive, but I could see a 10+ goal loss. Sacking your coach, who is known to be close with many of the players, with 3 games left in the season after a big win is just bizarre. There is no coach currently available that is so good that it is worth alienating our playing group and embarrassing our only living premiership coach.

Yup. Based on how bizarrely this has been handled I’m a bit worried we’re heading for a Carlton-esque coaching carousel.

Absolutely bizarre timing. I have 0 faith in this board but I’m praying they have a plan in place for a new coach and a plan to keep the players happy.

Jeez, who [censored] in your weet-bix this morning?

POSTGAME: Rd 21 vs West Coast
A win is always nice regardless of opponent (especially in a year as grim as this one) but most of my excitement coming out of today is about the young guys. Culley with a great debut, Windsor looked confident for the first time in ages, Langford is a future superstar etc etc. I’d also go so far as to say that Disco Turner looked deity-like.

POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
Just got a text from a friend from the states that doesn’t follow footy that said “so do you want to talk about the Dees?” We are officially an international embarrassment after yesterday! Congrats everyone!

Who is running this club?
Honestly I’d upgrade my membership if the Swedish chef was placed in charge… Might even be an upgrade in terms of transparency and comms. “Bork, bork, bork!”

The closest I have ever been to canceling my membership.

Unnecessary comment on my part—apologies

GAMEDAY: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
The bump on XL far more problematic than the May incident last week—was intentional and was not a play on the ball. But it won’t even result in a fine much less a suspension.

Is Max playing centre bounce and then exclusively in the back half?

20+ meter kick not 15…?

Not 15 on that Elliott behind…

POSTGAME: Rd 19 vs Carlton
I guess I’m a bit confused what the difference is between the incident May is going to be suspended for and the incident where May got concussed himself… In both incidents, all involved players are going for the ball, but May will be suspended for a 50/50 ball that he missed by a millisecond where both players are running for the ball, whereas nobody will be suspended for a flying knee straight to the back of May’s skull (which didn’t even result in a mark). I love a speccy, but if they’re going to pretend to care about player safety, I do not understand how a running flying knee like that one or the one that almost killed Trac last year is currently acceptable but what May did is so vile blah blah blah.
