PREGAME: Rd 17 vs Adelaide
Isn’t that kind of what St. Kilda have been doing and everyone is criticising them for it?

We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
Were really gonna try to call out an opinion/thought that made a tonne of sense at the time it was written and was entirely feasible? Weird move…

Media Madness
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/be-a-good-teammate-steven-may-s-unfiltered-feedback-is-wearing-thin-at-melbourne-20250626-p5maet.html It’s a slow week for news in the AFL and a big 4 club is falling apart…how can we bring Melbourne back into the drama? What an absolutely shocking “report” this is. A bunch of unnamed sources speculating on why Steven May was frustrated after losing a game by 1 point 3 weeks ago. Paul Roos interview in there…where he expressly says he has no sense of the May situation…and they still quote him like he does. Holy hell is the AFL media an embarrassment.

At least we aren’t Carlton

PREGAME: Rd 1 6 vs Gold Coast
Used the bye week to get a break from Demonland and glad I’ve come back to the same stupendous content I’ve missed so much. In the past hour we’ve hit all the highlights of the weekly selection takes, including: -these selections are bad because we aren’t playing enough of the young players, even though we’re playing a bunch of young players -these selections are bad because we’re not playing an older player in a position where we have promising young players -these selections are bad because they don’t put us in a position to win rn even though we’re out of finals contention -these selections are bad because they don’t do enough to set us up to win next year -the vice captain, who had a bad game after a month off, should be dropped -the coach, who apparently has the only say in who plays any given week, has made these selections because they’re his pals Demonland is a really good microcosm of why it’s so difficult to run a functional democracy.

Outrage over a dog walking track causing the cancelation of a decade long plan to build a desperately needed HQ for the oldest football club in the world would be the most MFC thing ever.- PREGAME: Rd 1 6 vs Gold Coast
Looking forward to randomly winning this game out of absolutely nowhere, getting my hopes up that we’ve turned a corner, and then getting absolutely crushed by Adelaide the following week.- We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
The good news—we’re not dead for 2026 yet.- GAMEDAY: Rd 14 vs Port Adelaide
Less time on the Austrian Red Bull treadmill. More time practicing kicking the ball.- KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
I get it but if a player who signed a long term contract 2 years earlier decides they want to move home, tough [censored]. The answer is no. Unless there are extraordinary circumstances (someone is gravely ill, etc) I fundamentally do not understand why clubs are supposed to just let players go.- Trade Targets
Genuinely laughed out loud—bravo- KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
As others have noted, the salary cap is expected to rise pretty significantly in coming years. This deal feels massive now but in 2-3 years I’m guessing it’ll be a relatively common offer for the game’s top players. I am slightly worried about the critical need to extend Judd this year and Bowey, Chin, and Disco next year. But I’m not sure any of them will be out of our price range even with this contract and it seems like they’re pretty content at the club. I also think there’s a bit of an argument that this actually might help our ability to sign veteran free agents in that Koz is the kind of talent that others may want to play alongside.- KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
I totally understand the concerns about the long term nature of the contract but I think that’s just the nature of being a smaller club that struggles to bring in star recruits. When you manage to draft a Kozzy, you do everything you possibly can to keep a Kozzy because it’ll extremely tough to get someone like him into our club in a trade or as a free agent unless we are premiership favourites. The lack of true permanent HQ, the smaller crowd sizes, the years of media drama all hurt our ability to recruit. Plus, we don’t have the same pull in bringing players home. If someone is from WA or SA and wants to go home, the clubs each have a 50/50 chance. If a player like Harley Reid wants to come back to Vic, we have a base level 10% chance before all our other recruitment challenges even come into play. - Training Ground?
