PREGAME: Rd 13 vs Collingwood
I mean, Iām pretty optimistic and think we are a chance against the Pies but after turning around the season and winning 5/7 you want Goody fired if we donāt beat the most in form team in the competition?? Seems reasonableā¦

We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
Bombing it long isnāt the gameplanāitās just unfortunately what some of our senior players revert back to when they panic under pressure when weāre losing.

Time to go Goody?
ā¦until yesterday we had won 5 out of our last 6 including a win at The Gabba against the reigning premiers who remain a top 4 side. Given the first 5 weeks of the year and evolving our game style, itāll be really difficult to make finals but we also get to watch a ton of really exciting under 25 talent on iur list who will continue to learn and grow and get better. We lost a game. The goal kicking was horrendous. Progress isnāt linear.

We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
Yeah I donāt disagree but I think Goody and co are well aware that we simply do not have that many accurate kicks on our list and we also lack any traditional dominant forwards. So efficiency without those two things is nearly impossible and therefore the only way we can compete is via volume. **with that said, the goalkicking yesterday was shocking to the point that we couldāve had 10 more opportunities in that second half and Iām not sure we wouldāve had more than one or two goals more.

We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
You increase the volume of opportunity. To put it back into footy terms, you try to implement a gameplan which creates a plethora of goalkicking opportunities for your side so even if you miss a lot (like against Sydney) you make enough to still beat the fewer number of opportunities your opponent will get.

We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
Thatās not how this works⦠A gameplan is about team tactics and can only go so far as to create opportunities to score. We have had plenty of opportunities to score every single week. Goalkicking is about the individual and is incredibly hard to re-teach to professional athletes whoāve been doing it a certain way their entire lives.

We're Not Dead Yet - The 2025 Season
This season has a big āany given weekā feel to it. So many chaotic results. Itās certainly unlikely, but still wouldnāt say the season is 100% done. Everyone between 6-12 on the ladder is a bit all over the place atm and while I wouldnāt bet on us (especially since we seem to have forgotten how to kick the ball through the big sticks) crazier things have happened.

Time to go Goody?
Goodyās job is to implement a game plan in which players play defence and offence in a way that creates sufficient opportunities to kick more goals than the other side. He did his job. We had plenty of opportunities. There are no adjustments on earth Goody couldāve made that wouldāve stopped that amount of dreadful kicking. What is Goodyās responsibility now, though, is making the necessary change to who coaches goal kicking going forward.

GAMEDAY: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
I tend to be pretty positive and supportive about our players and coaches but this goal kicking has broken me. Goalkicking coach has to go.

Appalling 1st quarter. But I think we battle back and win this. Despite last week our quarters have been uneven all year.

Well this makes a lot of sense now- PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Would be great to have Viney back in the side at some point but Iām now far more concerned with his long term health and well-being.- Ball Movement 2025
The quick, creative handball chains weāve been executing so well recently are right up there with the speccy for my favourite thing to watch in footy. There have been a few that have been like poetry in motion.- PREGAME: Rd 12 vs St. Kilda
Could be wrong but I feel like there might be a bit of a disconnect for some here in terms of what the coaching staff seem to want our forwards to do versus what forwards have historically done in footy. Have found the game plan thread and Binmanās recent comments there really helpful in trying to understand this. Petty and AJ certainly arenāt Hogan or Cameron but the way they play largely negates intercept marks in the forward 50āwhich both prevents those really frustrating fast transition goals through the corridor that killed us earlier this year and allows for ground balls that either let Kozzy do Kozzy things or starts those inside 50 handball chains to try to get to the open man. Given that we do not have a dominant key forward at the moment, it honestly seems like a brilliant move by the coaching staff.- Petracca & Oliver at the Dees in 2026?
Iām not as well versed in footy coaching/strategy as others but I feel like itās been noted that the ātaggingā isnāt really tagging and is instead a way to put Clarry with players/into spaces where he gets a lot of the ball and can shine, thus building back his form. Yesterdayās 31 disposals when heās supposedly ātaggingā seems like pretty strong evidence of this being the case. - TRAINING: Friday 30th May 2025
