  1. Seems a fait accompli
  2. There is absolutely no way pert didn’t consult the football department on this. Makes no sense as it doesn’t form part of a cohesive strategy. Unless the club comes out and says so I wouldn’t believe any other report
  3. We are the ones pushing Oliver out… not him wanting out. It seems that dees football department are willing to both take a salary hit and sub standard draft picks to get him out the door. Very depressing
  4. In fairness to the club they never predicted a major hamstring injury that has potentially altered his game and major off field issues.
  5. I agree that the writing is on the wall. The football department must have very little faith in Oliver and are willing to cut its losses. things must be dire if they are ok with letting him go for a late teens pick and a massive subsidy of salary
  6. Just a reminder that this club won a grand final followed by 2 x top 4 finishes and a win/loss record of 75%… Most ‘Other clubs’ haven't come close to this
  7. Wow!! I didn’t realise Oliver is on $1.5m per year… that’s huge dollars. If the dees were to offload him they would be paying half his salary for 6 years. I can’t see this happening unless they believe he will never be the same player again and they are better off cutting their losses
  8. As it stands today Oliver is worth pick 15 and $750k per year. No club will offer him more than that. His 2024 season was average, there is an unknown if he will ever reclaim his form and the off field behaviour is concerning. The question will be how much the dees want him to leave.
  9. Where is your evidence that the footy department was ‘blindsided’…? stop believing media BS
  10. Why on earth is it an issue for pert investigating if clubs are interested in Oliver? It’s not the role of either goody or richo and probably requires more nuance than leaving it to lamb.
  11. I genuinely believe Oliver’s best football is past him and the club knows this. Without his ability to burst out of packs he becomes just another ‘in and under’ player. Not worth $1m. I reckon if a club were to offer to take his contract, dees would be happy to part ways.
  12. Agree.. I doubt we would have won the premiership that year if there wasn’t a Melbourne lockdown and games were played at the G
  13. How is this a fair system where Sydney has 7 academy players and the rest of the clubs are lucky to have 1???
  14. Not owning the land is a concern. Not sure what appreciation you can get with depreciating facilities. We were able to make a nice profit from the Bentleigh club because we owned the land.
  15. Adam Simpson?
  16. Just chatter and rumours.. hopefully not more than that
  17. Anyone hearing chatter about the coach and his position?
  18. They aren’t proposing to build Dubai.:: it’s a few football ovals, a pavilion and a 4 storey HQ..: a members fundraising and some contribution from council and state governments will be enough. I’m in construction and the total cost for this isn’t going to be exorbitant
  19. The issue will this is that everyone wants the space to be utilised and that the current status quo needs to change. dees are putting forward a shared public and MFC space. This is exactly what the council wants. Can’t see what the objection is other than funding.
  20. Most people that gamble know exactly the risks and rewards and enter into it like adults. Like everything in life some people take it to the extreme. You can’t completely regulate for those at the edges.
  21. You do realise gambling isn’t illegal? The world is full of vices
  22. What do you mean part of the mcc? Do we have an ownership stake in the mcc? How does this work?
  23. It still not clear why the mcc would be investing in the Caulfield redevelopment. What benefit are they getting?
  24. Also poor by Brisbane fans. Sydney is a 1 hour flight. They sell out the home games. Surely they can get a few thousand to the game
