  1. Unfortunately the fact that this rumour hasn’t been put to bed usually means that there is a strong possibility that Oliver will be traded. At no point in time has Oliver actually come out and said that he is staying. As it stands today, Oliver is out the door.
  2. Unfortunately woe jnr isn’t going to make the cut… his decision making is way to slow for AFL level. The pace of attack slows when he has the ball
  3. Inflation has well and truly arrived at the AFL…
  4. Any chance lalor will still be around at pick5/6?
  5. Correct.. it’s as if people think morris is behind all of this.
  6. Oxdee replied to adonski's topic in Melbourne Demons
St Kilda would be popping champagne after picking up pick 8 for this spud. He was their 4th best defender behind Sinclair, Wilkie and Howard. Paying $800,000 per year for 6 years is blood money from hawks
  7. There are literally 2-3 free agents this that have any worth… we haven missed much
  8. You do realise that no one but those close to Oliver and the club knows exactly what transpired. I would hold off from making conclusions until the full story is told
  9. Blaming the media for this is a stretch
  10. The issue is that they know much more about the situation and understand much more about football than our supporter base. You need to give them the benefit of the doubt because most here are just part time analysts
  11. Seems a fait accompli
  12. There is absolutely no way pert didn’t consult the football department on this. Makes no sense as it doesn’t form part of a cohesive strategy. Unless the club comes out and says so I wouldn’t believe any other report
  13. We are the ones pushing Oliver out… not him wanting out. It seems that dees football department are willing to both take a salary hit and sub standard draft picks to get him out the door. Very depressing
  14. In fairness to the club they never predicted a major hamstring injury that has potentially altered his game and major off field issues.
  15. I agree that the writing is on the wall. The football department must have very little faith in Oliver and are willing to cut its losses. things must be dire if they are ok with letting him go for a late teens pick and a massive subsidy of salary
  16. Just a reminder that this club won a grand final followed by 2 x top 4 finishes and a win/loss record of 75%… Most ‘Other clubs’ haven't come close to this
  17. Wow!! I didn’t realise Oliver is on $1.5m per year… that’s huge dollars. If the dees were to offload him they would be paying half his salary for 6 years. I can’t see this happening unless they believe he will never be the same player again and they are better off cutting their losses
  18. As it stands today Oliver is worth pick 15 and $750k per year. No club will offer him more than that. His 2024 season was average, there is an unknown if he will ever reclaim his form and the off field behaviour is concerning. The question will be how much the dees want him to leave.
  19. Where is your evidence that the footy department was ‘blindsided’…? stop believing media BS
  20. Why on earth is it an issue for pert investigating if clubs are interested in Oliver? It’s not the role of either goody or richo and probably requires more nuance than leaving it to lamb.
  21. I genuinely believe Oliver’s best football is past him and the club knows this. Without his ability to burst out of packs he becomes just another ‘in and under’ player. Not worth $1m. I reckon if a club were to offer to take his contract, dees would be happy to part ways.
  22. Agree.. I doubt we would have won the premiership that year if there wasn’t a Melbourne lockdown and games were played at the G
  23. How is this a fair system where Sydney has 7 academy players and the rest of the clubs are lucky to have 1???
  24. Not owning the land is a concern. Not sure what appreciation you can get with depreciating facilities. We were able to make a nice profit from the Bentleigh club because we owned the land.
