PRESEASON TRAINING: Monday 2nd December 2024
FTB replied to DistrACTION Jackson's topic in Melbourne Demons
Absolute quality work from the track watchers. Those of us who can’t make it to any training sessions won’t miss a beat if this standard continues.- 302 replies

Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford

The poster didn’t say it was our club that was hosting the function. -
Say that to JVR’s face.

Mentha locked in. https://twitter.com/MitchKeat/status/1859560665196921343

Shane Mumford vibes. And I LOVE it!

Highlights package on the MFC website actually reminds me of Pendles. This kid is silk. Compliments Langford beautifully too. Welcome, Xavier! https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1694853/afl-draft-pick-no11-xavier-lindsay

Welcome to Demonland: Harvey Langford

Really happy with us picking Langford. It’s anyone’s guess how any of the draftees will end up going but I just get a feeling this kid is going to be something special. All along I was keen for us to select him over all the players that had been mentioned as possibilities at this pick. Welcome to the MFC and may you have a long and successful career, Harvey! -
Fair to say it’s been narrowed down to the following. This is assuming that all of Lalor, FOS and Jagga have been picked which is sounding close to locked in; Pick 5: Langford or Tauru Pick 9: Tauru or either Allan/Lindsay Very likely we end up with two of the above four players with the bolded player our preference at each pick if still available.
-
We are actually very likely to pick Tauru at 5 in that scenario as mentioned by Twomey and others.
-
SEN updated Phantom has us taking Langford and Tauru. https://www.sen.com.au/news/2024/11/19/sens-final-2024-afl-phantom-draft
-
Not sure whether it was mentioned earlier in the thread but Cal’s Late Mail Phantom Draft will be released at some stage tonight.
-
That a boy, Cal! Langford and Allan would be a terrific result.
-
Same as Fox Footy’s Phantom. Could easily be the way it goes but quietly hoping that North pick Tauru or Adelaide pick Draper. See what Cal comes up with this afternoon I guess.
-
Didn’t give much away at all as expected. Mentioned a couple of times it will simply be best available at both pick 5 and 9.
-
Gettable on the AFL website.
-
Interesting that when Cal was quizzed this morning on which key forward would be picked first, he said that Richmond are most likely to consider Armstrong at pick 10. No mention of us at pick 9.
-
We’ve been linked to all of Lalor, FOS, Jagga and Langford so if all four are picked before our pick perhaps it is Tauru’s name that is next on our board. It’s rumoured we’re not particularly interested in Draper. Really hope North pick Tauru though so we do end up with one of FOS/Jagga/Langford at our first pick. Lalor pretty much guaranteed to go at pick 1.
-
1. Lalor (Rich) 2. Smith (Adel) 3. Ashcroft (Bris) 4. Draper (Carl) 5. Tauru (NM) 6. Langford/FOS (Melb)
-
Couple of great highlight clips below. Both look excellent options to me.
-
Becoming increasingly likely that it’s one of Langford or FOS that ends up with us at our first pick.
-
Relax. If Tauru does slide, which is unlikely anyway, we are highly unlikely to be passing on the mid that’s still available - Langford in your particular scenario.
-
Draper won’t get past Adelaide. One of Langford, Smith or FOS for us.
-
Carlton into Draper in a big way so sounds like he will be a near certainty to be off the board when it comes to our first pick. 1. Lalor 2. Tauru Carlton or Adelaide to pick Draper with the other to select one of FOS/Langford/Smith. So sounds likely we will choose between the two that are still on the board out of FOS/Langford/Smith.
-
Langford at pick 5 for me, and by a fair margin. Just hope he’s still there. Seeing several Phantom’s that consistently have Lalor, Tauru, Ashcroft, FOS and Draper taken with the picks before ours so I hope it pans out that way on Draft night. I don’t have a strong opinion regarding pick 9. I’ll trust that Taylor will nail the pick like he usually does whether it be best available mid, fwd or def.
