  1. Yep all three trained. Nothing spectacular but they were no different to anyone else :-)
  2. It was mainly Miller and Jurrah. Morton pushed forward on a few occasions and was found as well. On reflection I don't think either Meesen or Johnson were there at all. they certainly didn't come outside anyway.
  3. Hi All, Went out and had a look at training this afternoon at Casey. All told including the warm up went 1 hour. I believe this morning was a much bigger session Summary Rehab Group - Bruce (looked quite proppy), Blease, Gawn, Bate, Dunn - Rehab group did a lot of running Stationary skills group - Tapscott - just very basic tennis ball skills - overheard it maybe a hip keeping from training, hasn't trained for approx 2 - 3 weeks 5 min cameo stationary skills group - Watts I have seen half a dozen pre season training sessions each year for the last 2 or 3 and the best thing about the rehab group at the moment is that all are on the way back and don't look too far away. Generally we still have people in moonboots or crutches this time of year. As I said very short session with mainly handball drills and then a match simulation exercise (whites vs blues) which was geared around the white team moving the ball from defence to the forward line in waves. I don"t have any fact but you could sense that maybe the guys in white were the team for the weekend. I will do my best to remember who was in it. Whites - Jones, Green, Mc Donald, Miller, Bennell, Jetta, Morton, Jurrah, Davey, Frawley, Warnock, Rivers, Maric, Strauss, Spencer, Jamar, Moloney, MacDonald, Grimes, Sylvia Highlights of the session - 1. - Even though he was in the rehab group Blease looked like he is really coming along. That was about the 6th session I have seen and he did more then ever before. His sprinting looked really good and he did do some kicking drills as well which I hadn't seen before. BUT THE NUMBER ONE HIGHLIGHT WAS GARLAND DOING THE WHOLE SESSION WITH THE MAIN GROUP. WOO - HOO Short and sharp session but if you have any questions fire away and I will do my best to answer them
  4. Managed to get there and this is what I saw No - Shows = Bruce and Tapscott Rehab = Meesen, Johnson, Gawn, Blease Managed Loads group = Bate, Scully, Garland, Watts Main group = everyone else including Aussie Only about a 1 hour session all told No real standouts Observations = Trengove great, Davey beautiful skills, Jurrah sublime, Sylvia looks a million bucks as did Maric. Any questions happy to answer if I can
  5. Was there last night and what a great night. Agree that the very little food was disappointing. It meant that most of the room overindulged on the amber liquid so it was pretty boisterous from about 10pm onwards Asked an official about rookie listing Dylan Grimes and his response was we dont have any room for rookies...yet. Gave a special toast to Jordan McMahon last night All the drafted players from last year were there and Neville Jetta had to get up and give everyone an update on each of them. The mention of Jordie offering to stay on the rookie list and forgo the chance to play in the first eleven games of next year was warmly appreciated by all in the room Really enjoyed the night but I am hoping we dont have another one soon cause celebrating our first pick at 17 doesn't warrant a night like that. Gsyberts parents were Collingwood supporters but changed pretty quickly...another victory there against the filth. I can already see my favourite passage play next year........Queens Birthday Scully sprints away from Ball who cant keep up and Trengove shepherd puts him on his arse
  6. Watching on Fox and seriously you would question the ability of a lot of our blokes to be decent afl players Was going to make a list of those whose skills are suburban at best and the realised the shorter list would be the ones that are up to scratch Only ones with skills up to it Davey - (poor though today) Jurrah - (thank god) Bennell - (only learning - did the steven stretch early and it looked really bad) If someone can find another one please do. I really do hope I am wrong. BTW just because you can kick long doesn't mean you have great skills either. In all honesty we wouldn't beat the VFL teams with what we are dishing up today. Thank god it is the early game on Fox and not too many would be watching the "slopfest" (stolen from supermercado but is apt). FWIW the Swans aren't a hell of a lot better. I can say though that we are not tanking. You have to have the ability in the first place to tank. This is tough watching
  7. Was able to get down for the first half and here is my assessment of the Demons for the first half Aussie - Looked good and his skills were very good Riv - Was doing what he had to do. Read the play as well as anyone out there and was doing the right thing by staying away from as many other players as possible to reduce the curse as much as he can ( I know he can still get injured on his own!) PJ - Best big man on the ground and was getting a fair bit of it. Zomer - Really liked the look of him and gave Casey a reasonable target. Better option then Newton in my opinion. Did some ruck duties in the second qtr Valenti - What do you expect of Valenti, hard at it feed it out, give a contest everytime - and thats what he gave in the first half. Jurrah - I reckon he will be 10- 15 touches per game but everyone will result in something exciting happening, lean quick athletic can reall see him being a real handful for defenders in a couple of years. Kicked and early goal but suffered a bit from being in starvation corner. McKenzie - Good size and certainly well worth the investment on a rookie list if the first half was anything to go by. Maric - Kicked three to half time and just looked like a rolls royce everytime he got. Moved through the midfield when he had to and just showed poise, skill and execution each time. One of his goals was just reward for being in a contest between wing and half forward, being clean with the ball but more importantly ran hard to give another option at the end of teh passage of play and he ran into the goalsquare unmarked for an easy goal. By the far the most exciting part for the DEmons in the first half Hope this helps and remember - opinions - everybody has one !!!!!!!!!!!
  8. This would be the side I would like to see (unlikely I know) 45. Matthew Whelan 34. Stefan Martin 25. Kyle Cheney 16. Jack Grimes 37. Matthew Warnock 18. Brad Green 10. Cale Morton 5. Brock McLean 14. Lynden Dunn 12. Colin Sylvia 7. Brad Miller 36. Aaron Davey 33. Austin Wonaeamirri 35. Trent Zomer 20. Colin Garland 11. Paul Johnson 32. Cameron Bruce 23. James McDonald 42. Jake Spencer 15. Ricky Petterd 2. Nathan Jones 41. Rohan Bail 8. James Frawley 6. Matthew Bate 26. John Meesen 29. Michael Newton
  9. Buckley played and was ok without starring. Went and got the ball a few times which was good to see. He is big enough to do that. Morton disposal was good.
  10. Went up for a spoil in an one on one contest side by side with his opponent and when he landed he just landed awkwardly. Stopped and held the top of his foot and the tried to run it out for the next minute. Doc wanted him off and he tried to stay out there but did eventually come off. Never saw him again after that. Might of played on in a normal game. Lets remember this was a intra club game in Feb ! Lets hope it was more precautionary then anything
  11. Got there five minutes in and first contest I saw was the Rivers one. !
  12. Think Spencer will give you a contest - dont know about skills though. Big enough to play with the big boys now. Meesen - god he look good but just doesn't get enough of it nor good at the contest IMO. Did a couple of nice things. Real chance is to turn into a ruckman that runs all day and ends up with 20 touches rather then a dominating big man Johnson -Serviceable today Jamar - Didn't play
  13. Good turn out crowd wise. Not Playing - Robbo, Jurrah, Watts, Wheatley, Davey, Jamar, Blease, McNamara, Maric cant think of any others. Hard to tell who was who from the new boys and the Casey fill ins. Wona - Great looks magnificent BOG for mine. Strauss - Boy can he kick. Really like the look of him. Bennell - very good. Jetta - just as good. Whelan - good. Garland -ditto. Meesen - eh ! Morton - got better as the game went on plenty of touches by the end Pettard - great physique played quite well. I think it was about 13 goals to 11 with the whites having a win Bigger crowd then I thought - needed to car park attendants to direct to you free parking spots
  14. Yeah I will be attending. Hopefully we get some encouraging news on a number of different fronts Most importantly on field stuff !!!!
  15. Very quick will give more detail tonight after work Jamar in a moon boot Jurrah got through warm up running then left field Blease, Moloney run laps Rivers didnt train Robb still limping but particpated more then I thought Aussie looked in great condition Strauss is a good size Watts very vocal as was Green, Bruce, Brock Best sight was Col doing a full session with not a bit of tape anywhere to be seen and looking in top shape More details tonight Cheers DW
  16. Ok will do and should be able to report back tonight. Sorry that photos prob wont be an option Cheers
  17. Heading to Casey Fields tomorrow Anything anyone wants a report back on ?
  18. Surfa, I was there today and I hope it looked as bad on TV as it did at the game.So many tackles where they were allowed to spin around and around and just play on. Two holding the balls against us where the ball actually come out. I tell you anyone can play league football if you get looked after the way Sam Mitchell did today. Besides throwing the ball over his head numerous occasions it is easy to grab the ball and when you are tackled just hold on to it. THE PLAYER MUST MAKE AN ATTEMPT TO DISPOSE OF THE BALL FFS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then in the last qtr when the game was over Buddy pushes Aussie in the back without the ball and the moron calls play on I tell ya it felt like one rule for one team and one for the other
  19. I was there again and watch any improvement disappear after 30 seconds of today's game. If North were good they would have won by 100. I have supported this club for over 30 years and we have had some really bad sides in that time but I am struggling to remember a time we have been this bad. Carlton will beat us next week and I am really seriously wondering who we can beat. Our skills are deplorable and the Chris Johnson kick in the forward line schmozzle has nothing to do with gameplan, coaching etc it was just plain embarrassing. Can someone please enlighten me as to when Daniel Bell became a kick in specialist ???????? The only two shining lights today was Flash showing a bit and Cale Morton. If we can keep him away from our senior players he could be anything. I have not seen nor heard any press conferences tonight but if Robbo is wheeled out to give us the lame excuses again I will spew. He is a big part of the problem. The last qtr just proves it. If we are going to keep getting the results we are getting lets not do it with the team we have at the moment. Bring in Martin, Maric, Cheney, Macnamara, Frawley, Valenti, Zomer and anyone else who is young and get rid of the dead wood that are making us the laughing stock of the league. God it is hard at the moment
  20. Not wrong about Garland. Every other bloke when they have stuffed up has gone back for a second effort. Come on Colin all we want is effort after effort Really proud with the way the boys are trying. So much better then the first two weeks. All we now is to get our skills and decision making right and we can start to win games. 4 goals direct from our errors - stop them and we are in this game Second half like that and they can all be proud of what they have achieved. BTW - How much better do we look with Rivers back
  21. Back at the G again today I am sure I was taken back six days because not a lot changed. Lets look at the positives and negatives from today Positives 1. Cale Morton - Could be anything - I hope we can keep him 2. Clint Bartram - Great to see him out there and playing well 3. Nathan Carroll - Tried his guts out I just wish some of your teammates followed 4. Paul Johnson - Even though he missed a sitter in the first quarter he kept trying - thats all we ask 5. Nathan Jones - not so much his game but the fact he stood up for a team mate at half time when Aker had a cheap shot. Rest of them (except for Chopper) just wanted to bow their heads and walk off 6. Only twenty games to go not twenty two Negatives 1. James Macdonald 200th - The effort put in by his teammates says it all about where we are at 2. Brock Mclean - Unforunately not player we thought he was. Too slow and gets caught all the time 3. Brad Green - Cheap possessions and again no accountabilty put him forward and leave him there 4. Colin Garland - Not to move towards the ball in a marking contest once is bad enough but to do it twice in the same contest 5 seconds apart is a reflection of his efforts - not good enough 5. Issac Weetra - Not up to it 6. Brad Miller - Drop him will never be player 7. Jace Bode - Not up to it 8. Simon Buckley - looks a million bucks but disposal and decision making terrible 9. Lynden Dunn - Rapt to see him in the side this week but boy oh boy what a shocker 10. Skills - Non existent 11. Pressure - Non existent 12. Accountability - Non existent 13. Pride - Non existent 14. 20 more weeks of this slop* to go (* slop borrowed from best reviewer on the net demonblog.com) Next week side in my opinion but I know it wont be In - Rivers, Holland, Martin, Maric, Whelan, Moloney, Bate Out - Weetra, Garland, Green, Robertson, Bode, Miller, Davey Whelan Martin Carroll Bartram Rivers Bell Morton Moloney Buckley Bate Sylvia Bruce Maric Neitz Johnson White McDonald Jones Holland Mclean Dunn Wheatley Cant be bother talking anymore about today What does next week have in store for us
  22. Thanks to all that have replied as it makes me understand that my pain is shared by many Sun came up today but the feeling is still as strong as yesterday. I have read with great interest the varying degrees of reaction to yesterday and may I congratulate all those that have a tried to remain positive I salute your attitude. Sorry I cant share it with you at the moment. Before I finish the pain with round one and look forward to redemption in round two can I make comment about the players response today 1. - Can we please have players who deserve the opportunity to speak ie the ones who have a red hot go , Jonesy, Macca etc and not Russell Robertson !!!! 2. - Robbo I will give you the benefit of the doubt because the media beautifully find away of editing what they want people to hear but I wanted to hear more - The skills weren't great and I will grant you that but first things first - ACCOUNTABILITY WHEN WE DONT HAVE THE BALL THAT IS CHASING, MANNING UP, VOICE AND LEADERSHIP, WHEN A FIFTY FIFTY CONTEST DESIRE, PASSION, ENTHUSIASM (from the first bounce), HEAD OVER THE BALL and LEADERSHIP. Two buzz words ACCOUNTABILITY AND LEADERSHIP AND WE DONT HAVE EITHER. Thats it. No more from me about yesterday and bring on the doggies on this week.
  23. Hi all, I have supported this football club all my life and have been a member for the past 23 years. I write this in sheer frustration of what I witnessed today. I write this as a way of releasing the frustration and I thank you for having a forum like this to do it in. I have sat through some shellackings in my time but never have I witnessed the sheer nothingness of todays performance. We have by far and away the worst senior group in the league. Brad Green - has invented a new position call the NML(No Mans Land) position. If I had to watch one more minute of him not chasing, not reading the play to get in the right position and one more time of him being caught in the middle of the Player with the ball and the player receiving the ball I will scream. His neck had to be iced after the game as he continually watched the ball sail over his head all day long Adem Yze - should never play for this football club again. A great servant in his prime with the ability to do the mecurial but never consistent and never reliable. His accountability gets worse and his effort in the last quarter where he should have put his head over the ball and picked it up clean instead he tried a dinky soccer tap to no one and looked ordinary. The laughter in the great southern stand was amazing Russell Robertson - The biggest sook we have had ever. As with most of ours when things are going well he can do anything but when someone needs to stand up and steer the team he is nowhere to be seen. The three goals in the last quarter were a crock and a blight on his three quarter performance. Cameron Bruce - Coming back from injury so he can be excused to a point. BUT Cameron if you are out there do SOMETHING Jeff White - Many bag Jeff and always have but I am not from that school. Worrying signs today though. David Neitz - I apologise David you have had to go on this year. You do not deserve what we will dish up in 2008. James Mc Donald - Got the best out of what you have and for that you can only be admired Brock Mclean - He is not the messiah we have all hoped. Too slow and another who seems to sook Harsh but remember this is only my opinion Colin Sylvia - Thanks for today Michael Newton - You have god given ability that thousands (including me) would have died for. Find some desire, desperation, pride and FFS a SECOND EFFORT and you could be anything. If you continue to pull up like you did in the centre of the ground today you will have a promising career cut short. (See Cale Morton effort last quarter) Just a tip from the outer - KEEP YOUR FEET and you will be amazed by what second efforts will give you. You can call me a hyprocrite because I have enjoyed all the highs a number of these players have provided us over the years and at times it has been great but time catches up with all of us. A number of the players mentioned above need to be removed from the senior team marked not to return. Thanks for all you have done for the club and for many it has been huge. But dont forget to thank the club for what they have allowed you to become. People will bag me on here and if this got back to the club a dozen players will want to rip my head off. But as we have always done in this club we live in the past and dont look to the now and the future. ( It would be great to see some passion though ! ) I will take 104 point losses like today if it is with a team for the future and full of our young guys but today cannot happen again with the level of senior players that were today representing the red and blue. I also promise to be the first to praise the above players if they turn it around this season and have good years as if you are prepared to criticise you have to be prepared to provide praise as well. I have more anger, disappointment and utter disbelief after today but I wont bore you with the rest of it. The bottom line I will be there next week against the doggies and walking into the ground I will have that little flicker of hope I always have - is today our day ? Last but not least my changes for next week In - Sylvia, Rivers, Bartram, Whelan, Maric, Martin, Frawley, Dunn, Bate (if fit) Out - Green, Yze, Newton, Carroll, Wheatley, Weetra, Robertson, Bruce and one other for Bate perhaps Wont happen but hey I can only hope Thanks for letting me have the rant
