PREGAME: Rd 1 6 vs Gold Coast
Interesting. I guess they couldn’t have cut out the middle man and just stayed there for three weeks? I’m sure the CBA would prohibit collective camps/vacations.

That’s weird! If Brian wants to call himself Mo, and he wants to call Alejandro, Allie. Maybe he just wants to be remembered? Isn’t that what they say?

Good stuff, OD. Not quite there yet, but I think I’m gaining on you fast! I don’t think it’s the years though – it’s definitely the mileage. Hopefully, we get some good results this weekend to relieve it all. Cheers DS 17.

I feel your pain, GW. A good barista is a wonderful thing. And you can’t even say Alejandro without rolling your R’s – you feel like you’re halfway to Guatemala already! On the plus side, Brian is definitely easier to get your tongue around than Alejandro. Fingers crossed, he might turn out to be a diamond in the rough. Have a great trip to the GC. Hopefully the same result as last time.

Just a state of mind. You could always change your handle? Not physically. Just from OD to YD?

TRAINING: Sunday 22nd June 2025
Something I used to do with my under 13s and under 15s, if they had too many issues trying to kick around the corner and not run straight – I would teach them how to kick drop kicks, and stab passes. Something that was going out of fashion when I started playing. It’s very hard to make good contact with those if you’re trying to kick around the corner. It really helps in aligning the hip knee and foot. One or two steps at first passing 15m to each other. Gradually extending it to 35–40m near the boundary for goals.

PREGAME: Rd 1 6 vs Gold Coast
Rivers needs to go back to half back to get some form behind the ball. Windsor on one wing, XL on the other. Bill Laurie needs to come in – but not on the bench/sub. Give him a decent run at it. JVR should stay permanently at FF/or do the defensive role to get some form. Petty should go back. Disco should come forward. Jeff should come into the side. Verrall should come into the side. Surely they are not trying to get top four at the moment?

CASEY: Rd 12 vs Essendon VFL
Yes, I think Jeff is a very clever footballer. One Mark in particular in front of the goal Square where he out Marked 2 defenders was particularly good. Was probably taking a bit more heat tonight as well, considering that JVR is still in The 1s. I think we only had 5x tall forwards tonight. Verrall did stand up when he needed to be counted on – particularly in that last quarter. I still think it’s a good thing having TC at the club as backup for Max, another playing coach, and an all round good guy. But I don’t think he needs to be leading the ruck in the VFL– half is plenty. He has nothing to prove. If Verrall or AJ are getting slaughtered, then he can step in and carry more, but it’s not doing their development any good by having them at CB for five minutes per quarter. And what a nice little cameo from Kalarney in the last quarter. You could see his confidence grow as soon as he marked that little chip kick from Verrall, and then goaled it. No stopping him after that. I thought the coach did well sticking him in the ruck for the last few minutes once we were four goals up. He’ll carry that confidence into his next game.

CASEY: Rd 12 vs Essendon VFL
Seems like a really good guy. Hope he’s a keeper as well, as they tend to attract other good blokes and good players.

Let’s hope for some straight kicking. Looking pretty good so far.

NON-MFC: Round 14
Pretty sure Saints beat Geelong, Port, and Fred as well. Ross does [censored] like that – puts together a tactic that catches oppositions off guard. Even if the coaches are aware of what’s happening, it’s difficult to make the playing group aware before quarter time at the very earliest.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Not sure what you’re saying here?? How?
-
KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Yeah. Good old Fred. He’s a destination club for sure. Besides Peter Bell, has any player actually returned – and stayed there? Chris Tarrant? Trent Croad? Josh Carr? Rory Lobb? Lachie Neale? They are on fire! The only reason Jacko isn’t here, is that there isn’t any mid-season trading at the moment. I tend to think that players from other clubs will see MFC players happy to commit long-term to the club and read into that the positive environment here.

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
To be fair, it seems that Ralphie can’t fathom a hell of a lot. He’s a bit like that little guy in the Princess Bride.

Yeah! What a [censored]! Always has been. (I thought he was a list manager for a sec!!)

KOZZY A DEMON FOR LIFE!!!
Ha ha! When I clicked on this thread, I was taken to the last page I looked at: February 15, P. 48. So much doom and gloom, no wonder I hadn’t visited this thread since. And the season hadn’t even started. I often wonder if the perpetual nay sayers are just visiting to stir up trouble, or they have a nasty case of MFCSS?? Let’s toast to a long and distinguished career 🥂

Umpiring standard
I think the main problem with 4 umpires is that they can overrule from a distance. If they had designated boundaries in each quarter of the field, I believe it would be better. By allowing umpires that are further away to overrule, as soon as the crowd roars they assume that the closer umpire cannot see a free kick, and so insert a free kick for the team with the dominant number of followers. And we all know who that is. I also cannot believe that there is no definitive statistics to point out which umpires are guilty of overruling incorrectly.

The bump is back
There was obvious accidental head trauma to Anderson. Wouldn’t it be surprised if it’s delayed in a similar way to Viney. Even minor accidental head trauma is reportable from a tackle. How can a front on bump be safer? Or any different? It’s certainly more reckless. It certainly looked a lot more reckless than Kozzie’s bump on Moore last year. Did Darcy even come off the field?

CASEY: Rd 11 vs Collingwood
The umpire blew the whistle for a free kick while the ball was in the air. Everybody stopped to see what the whistle was for. Either player (Adams/Hore) could’ve marked the ball. One pies player continued on and conned the umpire into calling advantage. Pretty sure that can’t be called advantage, but they might as well give it a try, eh? They almost got them over the line.

The bump is back
Consistency is never going to happen. Stewart did nothing to mitigate contact. Anderson’s head made very forceful contact with the ground. Seemed to be a lot more reckless than a lot of so-called reckless acts. E.g. Peatling’s dangerous tackle on Friday night. Is there a possibility of this one being used for the defence?

NON-MFC: Round 13
Goldie is still one of the best runners in the AFL. TDK is more of a power athlete.
