POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Carlton
I thought I saw Kolt help Cripps up off the ground soon after that goal. Om 🙏 Next thing he’ll be snatching pebbles out of people’s hands.

POSTGAME: Rd 03 vs Carlton
Saw a guy at the Chinese takeaway last night. He got tongue twisted trying to order tofu, because it was listed as bean curd on the menu. So he asked for sweet and sour [censored]! Must’ve been a Carlton supporter.

Whoever it was that was mowing their lawn after quarter time – you can come in now, all good! 🍻 Replay should be worth a watch.

NON-MFC: Round 03
I was half interested in this morning’s match – since then it’s been a run headlong into mediocrity. Actually watching anything else. I hope the AFL takes note. But I doubt it.

POSTGAME: Rd 02 vs Fremantle
Actually, I think we are the first team this year, but we probably won’t be alone. But you are right about that first quarter. It should get taken apart and put back together under the microscope. Much better second quarter though. The only positive was that after being 42 points down at quarter time, we only lost by 48 points.

COACHES VOTES: Round 02
Yes, Max is in another class still, even if we should have given him some back up in this game. Agree that Butts, and also Khamis deserved more votes but Bont was outstanding. Baker was very good for most of the game. Dogs are going to be difficult.

Umpiring Stats Being Hidden ... by the Umpires
Agreed. However, you would hope that the umpiring director/coach and the AFL would make use of these stats, even if nobody else can see them. For instance, it would be useful information to find which of your umpires are more susceptible to crowd noise – i.e. the hometown support in Perth, Adelaide, and against some Vic based teams. It really doesn’t affect the fans too much – everyone already thinks the umpires are rubbish😀. A few favourable statistics are not going to change that, but hiding the statistics might bring out even more conspiracy theorists.

PREGAME: Rd 02 vs Fremantle
I can’t see too many changes to the team this week. The defence this year is not there to defend in most of the sides – it’s there to sling shot attack towards goal. It’s okay for them to get 16 goals - as long as we get 17. Heath may come in Kolt may be sent to Young. But I would probably run him with Murphy Reid, as he seems to be playing a similar role to Nas on the outside and forward.

Thought it looked like a corky?

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
Max has thrown down the gauntlet, and I would be surprised if any team tries to go head to head with him for the rest of the season. TDK is as well equipped as anybody to go 1:1 with Max, and I can’t see anybody else being given the chance. So yes, I think Heath is in a good position to be given minutes so that we do not lose our most precious commodity from being double teamed for the whole year.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
Was that the one that was “touched too hard”? So you’ve gotta try to touch the ball, but not hit it too hard, because that would be deliberately hitting it out of bounds, and would be paid a free kick against for insufficient intent. FFS

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
Interestingly, in Ross’ presser, he stated that both teams had the same number of attempted tackles, but Melbourne was more efficient at 82% successful, compared to Saint Kilda at 50% successful. I’m too lazy to verify these statistics. It is true that broken tackles cost matches.

Hopefully, we will never see him in the centre ball up again!

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
It certainly looks like a part of the plan is to put a lot of fast players around the ball – and it definitely explains more bounces and tackles. For nervousness brought on by fast tackling players also explains some of the bad kicking by the opposition. There’s no substitute for speed.

POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda
Some interesting team stats I was just looking at. It looks like the Saints had more of everything, except 2 crucial stats – we had more bounces, and more tackles. Either we are being very efficient, or they are squandering the ball.

NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round
Maybe we can finally use AI for good – train it on some old classic commentary from the 70s 80s 90s. I wouldn’t use anything later than Dennis Cometti and Bruce.

Any truth to the rumour that Tom Hanks is researching for a Gunston biopic?

Are we expecting Claz to be BOG tonight?

Bailey Humphrey
It was good that he finally got around to working on his kicking – I always thought there were too many distractions here. Probably slightly unfair. It’s more likely that he now has people leading that he can kick to…

NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round
I’m just annoyed that our scoring system doesn’t allow for both sides to lose. Something for Swan to work on for next year.
