If you listen to him in his On the Couch interview I think it is a fair explanation of his up and down statistics.

He is our Shane Crawford, do not underestimate his value to the ethos and culture of the Club. I saw Crawford relinquish the Captaincy and struggle at times in his last years and yet play a huge part in the flag that had eluded him. If Jones can still perform at the level he did on Sunday I think he deserves to be part of the team next year and reassess at the end of next year. When Crawford retired after winning the flag the Hawks went on to be a powerhouse for many years and had a fabulous culture. I'm not saying this was all down to Crawford being treated with respect but I would remind all of you how well we have performed after treating well respected players and the Red Fox ruthlessly. I've yet to see who is proposed to push Jones out of the side on performance and as long as that is the case IMO we stand to lose more than we gain.

Myself and Mrs Worship went out to Coburg on Sunday and met up with a regular Training and VFL watcher /devotee. We had an extensive discussion regarding Preuss and our friend pointed out that in the previous 3 outings watching Preuss he had been dominate in the first half and also kicked multiple goals but ran out of legs in the second half. We proceeded to watch this occur again although it wasn't as obvious as previous. This may have been because the ball was camped in our forward line for 75% of the game. We came away from the game thinking Preuss will get his chance when his engine improves or heaven forbid, Max misses a game. As an aside, this is the second Casey game I've been to where the 3qtr time huddle has broken up and I've observed Maxy walking away with Preuss and Maxy coaching and encouraging him. I like this a lot. I would not be at all surprised if Max's opinion isn't being sort when it comes to when Preuss gets a call up.

Went last year for the Suns game and had a fabulous time (winning helps). We really liked the ground and the viewing is terrific, think Marvel without the roof and the seating as you go back isn't as steep. We are flying up again on Saturday flying back Monday. Having lunch at the German Club on Sunday (great pork knuckle) and then a few bevs with the QLD Demons at the Pineapple prior to the game.

Had a chat with The Lord on Saturday he said he was aiming to play the last 5 games of the home and away. He's not on a restricted program anymore just needs to do what he is to get his fitness back up and then return through Casey for touch and confidence.
-
Err, he is, same as Gus's

Would be interesting if the patron had resisted being held. I believe what was done is getting very close to false imprisonment. Perhaps one of our legal brethren could comment. I wonder if it is a condition of entry into the ground, to give up your rights?

Please tell me you are in no way involved in the training , personal development, mentoring or support of young people.

Aah, the dark road to anarchy.

I've tried to avoid (sometimes unsuccessfully) commenting about Umpires in recent threads but this latest farce has me unable to stop myself. Back in the late 80's I worked with and went for a run with an AFL ump (over 250 games) on a regular basis. I was on the fence at the G when this particular Ump ran past after paying a rather dubious free against a Melbourne player and I yelled out "he dropped his knees you stupid maggot". Recognizing my voice his head snapped around and he yelled back "I'll see you Monday!" My point is; it's an Australian tradition to abuse your mates. Yes, there is too much venom in the abuse thrown at umpires sometimes. Always has been always will be. However, the AFL attempting to sanitize the game and the patrons to the extent they are now going is just another example of how they have lost the plot completely.

Unfortunately, I cannot see Neville returning and contributing in any meaningful way this year. Insert "sad face". Given Lords age we really do need to be developing a small/ish defender to play on the likes of Betts, CC, Ryan, Rioli x 2 etc

While I agree with some of what you say I can find no excuse for the blatant ignoring of a dangerous tackle and the awarding of a free kick for the tackler. Jetta even held Smiths head against the ground at a shocking angle accentuating the dangerous action. This wasn't crowd influence this was either complete incompetence or something completely without integrity.

There is a reason International Cricket now has a NO local umpire on the field rule.

In every job I've ever had, the policy on conflict of interest has been clear, that is; it's prohibited or you must excuse yourself. This is true even if it is only a potential conflict. I'm sure the 2 Umpires in question (and supported by the AFL) would say they have integrity so there isn't any problem. Then again the AFL is run by a Dill.

Below is an extract from a petition being promoted by Freo supporters regarding the local "derby". Enough is Enough! Fremantle Dockers supporters have long known the umpiring bias displayed by the terrible 2, Margetts & Daglish at every WA AFL derby. Both self proclaimed West Coast Eagles fans and both having no shame in socialising and publicly displaying their love for the West Coast Eagles, why does the Fremantle Football Club and the AFL continue to allow this ongoing and disgraceful umpiring bias derby after derby? Sunday 29 April was one of the most disgusting displays of blatant and bias umpiring ever witnessed in a professional game of AFL. It was the tipping point for all Dockers fans and this is their call to action. All Dockers fans respectfully request that both Dean Margetts and Jeff Daglish are no longer allocated to umpire the Western derby games. Dockers fans will even go as far as to commit to paying a $1 umpiring tax on their tickets for all derby games, in order for the AFL to fly and accommodate a neutral umpiring team that are no way conflicted. We cannot accept or allow conflicted umpires who publicly support an AFL team, to regularly officiate and make decisions that have many times changed the momentum of games to their team, the West Coast Eagles advantage. ENOUGH is ENOUGH, no more Margetts and no more Daglish for WA AFL derby games pleas

Is the Casey game being streamed today?

I've always referred to them as "mental health days"

You where better off to stay silent, if you have read all the previous posts and watched the clips then how about a comment on the "victims" previous behavior? Or is your outrage only reserved for 7news reports? I will assume you wont reply.
-
Yes he did but we don't know if that's true. What we do know is his brother can be heard saying to the Dees supporter "Stop, stop he's disabled". If you take a look at the 7News clip and compare it with the clips of the "victim" in his normal behavior, something doesn't quite gell. Don't get me wrong I'm in no way condoning the actions of the Dees supporter however I think you are behaving a bit like the Media ie shoot first and ask questions later. I don't know if you bothered reading all the previous posts but I doubt it. If you had you may have picked up a hint or two from other posters about previous form on the part of the "victim". If you want to do some further checking a few of the D supporter facebook pages have some instructive comments from a number of women and families who have had to move away from where the "victim" sits due to the aggressive and obscene language used.
-
Just to put this into perspective, perhaps the innocent "disabled" victim might not be the best spokesperson for Tasmania or the AFL. Apologise for the language but I think it is important that people know who the Media are portraying as the poor unfortunate.

Went back and checked the second one and Harmes did enter the protected zone (10m) looked like about 7m. Problem was OMac skipped sideways about 5 times, away from the Mark and made it look like Harmes was much closer. Can someone enlighten me why OMac would do that? I understand why it is done when someone is kicking for goal but not in this case.
-
Actually, I think Red Ed had his President hat on and I'm pretty sure he was being ironic
-
Agree on the first one but will have to check the replay on the other. It looked to me that he needed a teleportation device to get out of the protection zone.
