Disagree. He can mark the ball and is a competent third man up, but his defensive pressure leaves a lot to be desired.

Isn't it always holding the ball if you are taken to ground? You don't get to go to ground in a tackle, get up and then handpass the ball.

That was very lazy from Jeremy Howe. You can't give a player as fast as Isaac Smith even a centimetre, let alone a metre or two.

Nobody knows who he is (nor do they care because he plays for Melbourne), but he is one of the biggest success stories in the AFL this year. From a re-listed rookie to the best small defender in the league is an almost unbelievable accomplishment.

That all depends on who his opponent is. Horses for courses and all that.

I think Chris Dawes would make a better defender than forward. He halves every contest but cannot win one. His defensive pressure is really good as well.

Gawn wins the tap handsomly, taps it straight down in front to where a Melbourne player SHOULD be. Only problem is...the sole player there is in a Hawthorn jumper. As the ball cannons down the field for another Hawthorn goal, Gawn puts his arms out as if to say "Where the hell is everyone?"
