  1. I would have the back-up for Jamar in the 21 and then have him subbed around 3 qtr time and have Jamar run out the game in the ruck. Will give us some more run and we will want Jamar in the middle at the end anyway...
  2. I know this attitude is confronting and accusatory and exclusive. Sometimes the truth is. We have less of these supporters than other clubs (our supporter to member ratio is the highest in the league) but it still applies to some Dees fans. Get on board. Tell 'em rpfc sent you.
  3. I'm with Old. Bailey should work on the fundamentals of the players with an eye to the next 'theme' in AFL football. It went from the short kicking 'keep-ball' to run-and-share in terms of ball movement. And it went from zone defence all over the park, to a very high zone, to an incredibly pressurised press over the forward half of the ground. I don't know what the next dominant style will be but the interchange rule means we have got to players with great endurance, body strength, and skills. Many may say 'duh, rpfc' but it would change the requirement of someone like Morton to remain a stick to cover ground to someone who can fend off pressure in close quarters aswell as have great endurance.
  4. My impressions of you as a person are of bitterness and anti-semitism. Make of that what you will...
  5. If BB and I didn't fight in the off-season what the hell would we do? 3 years straight now, got to keep up the record... And yes, that number is quite good. I hope those that are thinking as consumers realise that the brand they invest in their footy club and probably not think like a consumer when it comes to the Demons. I can understand people waiting to see how the teams looks for that season, I don't understand the argument that it isn't a good purchase to be membership if they won't use it. It isn't a consumer product, it is a form of ownership of the club that ensures it's future so that I may enjoy it and any future rpfc's may enjoy it. Note: This is a side argument to BB and OD's argument not the crux. So I have missed the point I concede.
  6. I was agreeing with your post. My 'unthinking' comment was directed at those that expect more than they can deliver, sooner than is possible.
  7. What does that mean?
  8. You should more closely read the posts - I thought we were saying those that haven't signed up yet don't give a frack about a practice game in Tassie that is hardly covered.
  9. Less than 18 months ago we won our second wooden spoon in a row. We are just impatient sh!ts.
  10. As the purveyor of condescension on this site, I fully approve of the above sentence. But, seriously, define a 'star' for me and I will argue, as will everyone else, until we are red and blue in the face... My basic requirement for the Dees is to have 5 or 6 players that I can rely on to beat those around them in 'big' games. Call them what you like - we need 'em...
  11. Yeah, it's great spin. Fev needs to have a chat with Reach, not work for them to help teens...
  12. They have affected the win of a flag, it's a semantical argument this, but what is a 'star' if not someone who affects a Premiership winning team?
  13. Yeah, it's all semantical and subjective. 9 days...
  14. I'm glad you can be so glib... And what an excellent play on words you have created... I understand what you're doing - it helps when bad things happen if you predicted/expected the bad thing. That way you can be pleasantly surprised no matter what doom follows...
  15. They have more stars than Mick lets on. Pendlebury, Shaw, Swan, Didak and a raft of kids who look like getting there. Yes, you need a team of good players. But stars (whatever the definition) are the ones that can rise above other players in tight games. Collingwood has those.
  16. The number of people who would decide to get a membership on the basis of a sparsely reported win over someone in Tassie could be measured on one hand... The Dees supporters who give a frack about practice games are, or were going to be, members anyway.
  17. I reckon the straws you're clutching have less merit than the straws Brad is clutching. And in that event - I will take this young man on face value.
  18. I don't know, but Frawley is. Our kids need more time to see whether they will become stars of the game.
  19. Backs Grimes, Rivers, Garland, MacDonald, Batram, and Bail. Mids Moloney, Jones, Davey, Scully, Sylvia, and Jamar. Forwards Jurrah, Green, Maric, Dunn, Watts, and Bennell. Bench Trengove, Jetta, and Martin. Sub Bate The most talented player in the all lines has played less than 30 games - Grimes, Scully, and Watts. Couldn't tell you how they will go week-to-week... Bate as a sub is a strange one. It isn't tactical - I really believe you should play your in-form talent from the start and not for one quarter or a third of the game. I chose Bate as the 22nd-ish player picked keeping in mind that a ruckmen will not be a sub. Bate coming in sacrifices some run, but could have an impact in the forward line. Otherwise, I am happy to give Bate a start and take Bennell out. Anyway, I tried to shape the team around more run as I can see our midfield as having their slow and lazy days this year.
  20. "It's easy to sum it up if you're just talking about practice. We're sitting here, and I'm supposed to be the franchise player, and we're talking about practice. I mean listen, we're sitting here talking about practice, not a game, not a game, not a game, but we're talking about practice. Not the game that I go out there and die for and play every game like it's my last but we're talking about practice man. How silly is that? ... Now I know that I'm supposed to lead by example and all that but I'm not shoving that aside like it don't mean anything. I know it's important, I honestly do but we're talking about practice. We're talking about practice man. We're talking about practice. We're talking about practice. We're not talking about the game. We're talking about practice. When you come to the arena, and you see me play, you've seen me play right, you've seen me give everything I've got, but we're talking about practice right now. ... Hey I hear you, it's funny to me too, hey it's strange to me too but we're talking about practice man, we're not even talking about the game, when it actually matters, we're talking about practice ... How the hell can I make my teammates better by practicing?" A little AI perspective...
  21. And it's practice.
  22. Wouldn't have made a difference. The people on here are apart of the 28k or they will never buy a membership. One in particular comes to mind, but that horse is well and truly beaten...
  23. KC from Casey said he played well in the Casey Forum, but doesn't go into much depth. I call chinese whispers...
  24. You can read the live feed from Matt Burgan. Watts needs to lift, as does many of his more seasoned teammates. He is also a huge investment and the future of this club - he needs to be developed and that, as hard a pill as it is, means he has and will get games he didn't 'deserve.' All things being equal, he shouldn't have played half his games so far. But things aren't equal, and nor should they be.
  25. It's his opinion. And who cares?
