  1. Fair point. Does anyone know if he’s happy?
  2. Once again ‘star’ is used so liberally it betrays the meaning of the light in the night sky that has travelled so far that by the time the light has reached the Earth it may have already extinguished…
  3. Everyone is happy. So many happy people…
  4. And we will be turned around and beaten. Dont over commit, use that great backline of ours and win 1-1s in a more open ground that allows slower ball movement and then turn it over and go.
  5. Yes, and the game today is built around counter attacking brutally from a congested backline with a series of 1-1s and using running power to turn those 1-1s into 3-1s in seconds.
  6. I can name a poster who used to do that for real…
  7. The correlation is that coaches say a lot of things…
  8. Turner’s talent won’t allow him to ever ‘rip’ any game apart. He is a third tall and if he plays his role - he can make life easier for JVR and keep defenders accountable. We have to remember this as fans or we risk setting ourselves up for ignorant disappointment.
  9. The crux of this asinine conversation was ‘were we keen to offload’ and we just weren’t. How can I tell? Oliver is still here. The rest is the normal amount of noise that trade week brings including agents and players agitating a situation. The reporters got wind of the agitation but misread our willingness to engage in a trade - they were wrong.
  10. Land needs no bait. We are going to click anyways. If Freo is any Warner and Pickett they are going to have to loosen some capital - I can see them allowing for Jackson to go to facilitate that. But he may have other designs - this will be the last generation of players with effective no-trade clauses.
  11. Neale Daniher assured us that Chris Lamb had a long future at the club - delisted later that year.
  12. Tom?
  13. I thought this was a mea culpa. But if I can’t get an apology then a thread that has them all is something I suppose…
  14. For me, if you are not a star - what’s your role? And if Langford can play a role in that fwd line that gets him exposure at AFL level - I think that will benefit him more. Surely we have to play Petracca forward more in the next 3 weeks? Rivers will also need to sure up on the defensive side of the ball sometimes, Oliver should have always spent time at either end learning to get easy (back) and hard but valuable (fwd) footy. I think there is scope for Langford to play meaningful minutes with this midfield.
  15. It’s Woey. Is am optimistic about this season and the terrible conversion is not stymied that. We are coming from a ways back in a number of areas - getting that many I50s and missed shots is a luxury frustration I will gladly put up with as we progress from where we were. The tiresome sniping of depth players is as noxious as it is expected - beat the bell curve of fandom and realise that they do not matter - they are replacement players that don’t dictate wins and losses (but jeez they’re good for excuses!) Petracca, Oliver, May, Gawn, Lever, Viney, Rivers, Pickett, Fritsch, Langdon - these are the players that will dictate our fortunes.
  16. Going by the game that hasn’t happened yet?
  17. ‘Blatant rip off’ What can one do with a logo that some club somewhere hasn’t already done? Any logo will be a ‘blatant rip off of something else’ so that shouldn’t be a determining factor at all.
  18. Can we please have a tedious back and forth about the difference between a logo and an emblem? Approx. 70 pages worth. Thanks rp
  19. Oh jeez
  20. Groan I don’t read posts or books, and I feel things upside down but never back to front.
  21. Love some mature bodies while we have our stars in their prime.
  22. That’s a false economy; late picks in the draft are looking across all available, scouted players. You can make ‘needs’ based calls with those picks. However, the SSP decision is working from a pool of train-on players over summer at the club and any that chose to train elsewhere. Whoever is most promising AND agrees to come is who you should put on the list. Perhaps the better place to lean on ‘needs’ is who you invite to train with the club over summer.
  23. If your making a decision on SSP based on what the best 22 needs - god help us. Culley surely gets a go. Whether he ‘has a spot in the 22’ is as meaningless as speculating who is going to get the next season ending knee injury…
