  1. Wouldn't that be fun? Hannabal/BenHur/TweedPig/Lone Wolf/whatever else and Dr Who/hangon007/T&W agreeing with each other? But BH said he would not return the last time he left - too busy agreeing with 13 year old Richmond supporters about how bad Watts is...
  2. Those of us that cannot make it to more than a handful of games a year would argue that while we see through the lens of a TV camera, our views shouldn't be rejected simply because of it. I have seen, in the flesh, the work that Watts does that isn't seen on the TV screen - I have also seen the terrible displays and 'attempts' on the footy that give critics like yourself fuel for your argument that he is a failure. Again, I argue that he has shown in the past what he showed yesterday - and I won't let history be re-written to suit a narrative. Watts' job will only become easier from here on in - with a better midfield, more Inside 50s, other forward targets, and the level of talent around him - but he was not without production in the last 4 years and he certainly wasn't a failure by any definition - and I am still waiting for the definition of his failure by the way?
  3. You two can laugh at 'jokes' all you like... The myth that Watts has never shown something like he showed yesterday pops up about 5 times a season. Such regularity should trigger some self-reflection but those incapable can't be reasoned with. I may have just 'thrown numbers around' but until they are sufficiently batted down - they are out there, without dissent.
  4. Watts had 17 touches, 7 marks, 2 Inside 50s, 1 goal assist, and kicked 3 goals. Watts averaged 16.7 touches, 5.3 marks, 1.6 Inside 50s, half a goal assist, and .8 goals a game in the last 4 years. I acknowledge that he has been inconsistent - that I am not arguing - but trying to convince yourself that the doubts you have had have not seen some proof of the opposite these last 4 years is rich. Watts does what he did yesterday 10 times a year on average (he has had 17+ disposal games 39 times from 2011-2014). And while disposal count is an inexact measure but he has always had to work hard to get it and it has been pretty hard for him in the kind of teams he has played in these last 4 years.
  5. If yesterday was a 'breakthrough' game then Jack has had about 15 breakthroughs. You can doubt, Jack. Most people who follow footy doubt him. You are not alone in the woods on that. But don't tell me that he can't prove you wrong. He has a chance to fulfil his talent, and if he does that - he will prove you wrong; that's what you have been doubting isn't it?
  6. Garlett should have kicked 4 or 5. Had 5 bucks on him to kick 3 but I don't hold grudges...
  7. I was thinking something similar this morning. We have had so much list change since Roos came in. I think he is dealing with the 'battered psyche' he found at the club by removing those too battered... I know that sounds harsh but Vanders doesn't question himself, Brayshaw doesn't hesitate to tackle, Salem backs himself and his leg to do anything, JKH always looks forward, and Frost never looks intimidated. I feel as though these are the reasons that they played yesterday above players that I have seen do the opposite in the pre-season and last year.
  8. No, no, no - according to your logic, it is us that deserve the praise for we were to blame for the malaise. Thankyou so much for your appreciation for my hand in yesterday's accomplished win. But it isn't just me, it's everyone who ever disagreed with Dr Who/hangon007/T&W over the years... Well done to all!
  9. I wouldn't drink your own bath water so readily... He is an 'unqualified failure'? Of a draft pick? Who would you rather? Or as a footballer? How is that? He has played plenty of games like he did yesterday in his short career. But every 3 weeks he seems to fall asleep at the wheel and let his good work be ignored by individuals like yourself. His doubters can continue to doubt if they want to - but don't think that judgement on his career is over or that you right - the debate will continue for a few years yet.
  10. Huge tick, tick, tick, tick, massive tick, tick, important goal and presence tick, tick, effective tap tick, huge tick, tick, and tick. All the kids can properly develop when the established players are shouldering their load and playing great footy.
  11. Yeah, they went ok...
  12. Column A just looked at Column B and shrugged...
  13. The Lions are having one of our start to the year, in years gone past of course - 'good' new recruits and a thorough deflation of hope and life itself.
  14. Swans fans getting knowledgeable finally... There is hope for footy in NSW!
  15. Not certain anyone gets 'dropped' from the 21. But a couple might have to 'make way'...
  16. He has about 6-8 of these games a season. The criticisms with any merit are the ones that bemoan his consistency. What he did today was not new - he can even do more than that. But he just needs to not drop too far from that standard. Having said that - we don't get 52 Inside 50s that often - and when we play well, it gives a chance for the forwards. And they responded; Hogan/Garlett/Watts kicked 7.5 and fluffed a couple more.
  17. I will let you know; I will be there.
  18. No, no, that will be a win for football... (Shudder)
  19. lol That is an interesting mindset. At some point, hopefully, we will have multiple games - it could be next week - where no-one is 'not playing well' but you still have best 22 players to bring back...
  20. Good teams also play their best 22 and disappoint some blokes (and fans).
  21. Good luck to him walking through Yarra Park...
  22. I guess Roos has to decide whether he wants more vets in this young side, or whether to not drop a player who has played well. I have played/captained/coached in good teams - in form players get dropped. We are just not used to that...
  23. Vanders was playing a very forward role...
  24. And not even the best player I have ever seen can come back through us anymore. If you're underdone, and if you're sore, you better not risk it against the Demons. They will put Viney or Brayshaw on you early and eff you up.
  25. See who is sore I guess... Hogan rucking will put a few hearts in mouths - I don't think they have trained him for that - neither Dawes. I think you are looking elsewhere for the bloke replacing Dawes. Maybe Vanders? Jeez, Chris might be at Casey next week...
