Hopefully he does a Jake Melksham of last year's game and gets them completely off guard with a 3-4 goal game.

Selection needs to be based around helping May and Lever play to their strengths. They are absolutely key to our success and we can't afford Jake Lever taking just 2 marks a game and dropping one crucial one in the dying minutes to concede the sealer. The fact that they only have 10 coaches votes between them (I think they've only polled in 1 game each) tells me their either out of form or are badly affected by our new look defence, sans the one less tall defender and less Max Gawn helping out. Once these two players start dominating games again, we will consistently win again.

Can't believe May has only polled 1 coaches vote for the one the best defenders in the game. You'd have it imagine when May and Lever start getting among the votes more regularly, we'll start winning the clutch games (i.e. - Port and Freo)

A win or loss is worth 15,000 people going through the gates on KB. If we stink the joint up on Friday night, then I can see a crowd of only 70-75k the following week.
-
Exactly. We sure didn’t play like a top 4 team in last years finals.
-
I know were not in the draft so it's a moot point but Marty Hore's doing well and is up there in the VFL coaches votes. We could've done worse than have another look at him. O Mac would've been a good option to support Lever and May assuming they've totally given up on Tomlinson.

Clayton Oliver Set to Return for Kings Birthday
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
We have 2-8 record on the Holiday Monday against Collingwood in the last 10. It's starting to get humiliating. We've won 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2016, 2017. There is a myth going around that we also won the Queens Birthday game in 2000 where Farmer kicked 9 but that occurred on the Saturday of the QBDAY weekend. Fantastic news with Oliver. -
Freo at $3.75 on the Monday before our match was a tantalisingly emotional hedge.
-
I reckon 85,000 if we beat Carlton. 70,000 if we lose to Carlton. You know 50,000 Collingwood will turn up.
-
Could've been a useful sub option.

Posters are at their worst directly after a loss and I'll concede I got that one wrong, in terms of using the word ''experiment.'' McVee's been good in most games and I'd have to re-watch the game to determine if he was beaten on the day. He certainly had a low impact possession game (as did his senior mates down back). Chandler has been well down since the North win and I was hoping he would respond with a 2-3 goal game and 12+ touches. Instead he got 0 and 6 and was subbed off. I do think Chandler is at real risk of getting dropped this week.

Trac definitely deserved a snag in bread after his performance on the weekend.

Agree. I think one of Tomlinson or T Mac has to play as a defender to help support May and Lever. Lever had an awful game statistically with just 2 marks, well down from his typical 5-6 marks a game, while May only got 8 possessions which is simply unheard of. The only games for Melbourne where he's gotten single digit possessions were games where he went off injured. I get that Tommo plays more bad games than good post his ACL but I think our defensive structure needs to be looked at.

I’m the opposite. Just give them the flag now and everyone else can take their holidays early. They will beat Brisbane or Port by 50+ points in a GF. They are scary good and they’d be delighted that Geelong are nearly out of the race. They were the one club that could’ve troubled them.
-
Fair effort but Hibberd probably deserves more than a 3.
-
Port are now becoming trust worthy. In prior years this would be the sort of game they’d drop on the road as favourites. Anyone see then as a flag chance?
-
Yeah I know. The two games last year against the Pies confirmed that we can’t go the distance with Collingwood’s manic and fast paced football.
-
All you have to do is play every game for West Coast and you’ll be guaranteed a top 5 B&F finish.
-
Yes I heard that too. On “The Couch” they mentioned we have the hardest draw from round 11 onwards and Essendon have the easiest.
-
Freo are not rubbish. They won 15 games last year and are heading towards a 13-14 win season this year. There is a massive misconception around here that Fremantle are a horse manure side. They’re actually pretty damn good.
-
Collingwood will either smash Norf by 176 points or come back from a 50 point three quarter time deficit to win. Thats the way Collingwood roll these days.
-
Freo are playing finals this year. They had a 15 win season last year and were 20 points away from playing Sydney in a prelim. Now they’re on a 4 game winning streak. I don’t get the under rating of Fremantle.

Will you BOO Luke Jackson this weekend?
Bring-Back-Powell replied to Supreme_Demon's topic in Melbourne Demons
Don’t know why a Melbourne supporter would applaud a bloke that “phoned in sick” for the 2022 finals series (average of 8 possessions and 1 mark). Totally offset his reasonable third quarter in the GF. There’s no pressing need to boo him, but why applaud the bloke? -
That game reminded me a fair bit of the GWS game in 2021 that we lost at the G. Overcast day, indigenous jumper, expected to win, conceded a 3 goal lead in the 3rd qtr, kept coming back but they always had the answers. Only difference is Freo were extremely accurate and that’s what won them the game. I think Goodwin hinted that we won the game on expected scores.

Today’s absolute breakeven if GC beat Dogs, which they should. Every other result imaginable has gone our way today and we end where we started. I think top 2 is beyond us but top 4 is seriously up for grabs this year.
