  1. If the Eagles can keep the margin to 4 goals V GWS today then we’ll be on the bottom.
  2. Draper’s kicked 6 goals which is two more than our leading goal kicker who has 4 despite Draper playing one less game than us. Can see him causing all sorts of problems for us next week.
  3. Rock bottom will be going 0-8 after losing to Richmond and West Coast in consecutive weeks.
  4. If West Coast can keep the margin to around a 4 goal loss to GWS then we’ll be stone motherless last after a month of footy. We’re also win and percentage behind a team that was talked about as possibly going 0-23 this year.
  5. Fair point. But Geelong were still more accurate than us. And you don’t have to convince me of the coach’s shortcomings at the moment.
  6. If you evaluate Richmond and Melbourne’s start to the season, you’d have Richmond starting as favourites on Anzac Eve. We’ll be lucky to score 90 points in a game this year and Richmond just did it against the reigning premier. A poor win by Brisbane, but they’re correctly cruising in the young season.
  7. One negative which can actually turn into a positive is Fritta and Kozzie kicking 0.6 between them. Kick 4.2 instead of 0.6 and we’re losing by 17 points in a highly respectable loss. And let’s face it some of those misses both boys eat for breakfast normally. Both players average just under 3 scoring shots a game in their career , which was pretty much bang on last night. If next week both players are having 3 scoring shots each, I’d venture a guess we’d be getting at least a 3 goals 3 behind outcome between the both of them. It’s completely unsustainable for the opposition to rely on Fritta and Kozzie to continually miss goals, and therefore scoreboard pressure will start to turn around from the MFC.
  8. 100% wholeheartedly agree with Kane Cornes. The AFL has gone past Goodwin.
  9. Bowey and Chandler have both objectively improved. T Mac’s unexpected renaissance is continuing. Petty, Rivers, Viney, Spargo and JVR in general and Fritta’s goal kicking have all gone to the dogs. The rest have stagnated (Oliver, Trac Gawn, Salem, Lever, Turner, Sparrow) When 3 players are at the top of their game, you’re probably winning 2 to 4 games for the year. I wonder how many Hawthorn players have improved and/or are at the top of their game?
  10. I wish the press would’ve asked him last night why every single last quarter of ours this year has been absolutely diabolical. Is it fitness? Confidence? Do we drop our heads to easily when the opposition halts our short lived momentum? Instead all I see was a bunch of compliments and back slapping from both the coach and journos about our improved spirit last night. As if we’ve achieved the bare minimum standard of AFL effort.
  11. Hopefully he retires early and resumes the internship he had a couple of summers ago with a well know financial services company.
  12. Not if we get done by 10 goals most weeks, win 2 games and become the easy beats of the competition.
  13. 4 losses ranging from 2, 15, 28, and 80 points 1 win - the Max goal after the siren in 2021.
  14. We do well in Geelong when the year ends in a 5. 2005 - break a 7 game losing streak and survive a Matt Egan kick after the siren to win by a point. 2015 - the Max Gawn coming out game where we won by 4 goals and I reckon we were more of an outsider in that game than tonight. We're due our 10 yearly win down there....(yeah, yeah I know we won in 2021)
  15. Collingwood are going fine. They win most of their MCG games. They'll win half of their interstate and Marvel games. Before you know it they'll be 16-7 and in the top 4 at the end of the year.
  16. This would be an ideal result and more realistic to contemplate than a win. If we're losing by 7 points we've either played a brilliant 1.5 to 2 quarters and gone to sleep in the other 2 (similar to the second loss to Brisbane last year), or a repeat of the GWS game whereby both clubs trade leads and momentum all night. Either outcome hopefully gives us some confidence to roll the Dons next week. Another 10 goal loss and I don't know where we go from here. A triple figure loss and I do know where we go from here.
  17. Heading to the game. Highlight of the night I expect will be the McDonalds, KFC or Hungry Jacks on the drivr back home At least we were accurate that day and were generally efficient going inside 50.
  18. Agreed. Johnson offered us next to nothing last week. In order for us to finally win a game, we can't carry players who simply don't impact.
  19. If Kozzie doesn't make a lick of difference tomorrow night, then we really are up the creek. I think he's our most important player on the list given the attributes he has to offer. One only needs to re-watch the Port game late last year which demonstrated how one player alone (4 of 7 goals/ 21 touches as a mid-forward) could keep his side in the game.
  20. I expect Max to have a big one tomorrow night. He's not playing on any giants this week (Xerri, Wits etc...) which are starting to cause him issues. His 2 opponents are not rucks by trade, and it's up to the mids and Max to have good synergy with his expected hit-out dominance.
  21. Lever and May haven't played a full game together since the GWS game in round 19 last year. It's no wonder our defence has been disorganised and a shambles. Expect Miers, Close Stengle and Mannagh to have an absolute picnic.
  22. The line should be 60. Geelong at GHMBA should theoretically be a much tougher assignment than Gold Coast at the MCG.
  23. Agree with this. Trac missed a ton of pre season (running around the boundary line doesn’t count) on the back of missing half a season. I expect him to be back to his best in the second half of the season and hopefully we’ll be the beneficiaries of a few wins. Gawn’s in awful form but he too missed a month of training. We’ll be firmly rooted in the bottom 2-4 next year if Trac and Kozzie depart.
  24. Agree with this. Hasn’t really fired a shot since the grand final and has tallied a meagre 8 brownlow votes compared to Josh Kelly who’s had about 95.
  25. Yeah, Fritsch played the best of his 3 very ordinary games last week, so he should have the opportunity to build on that. We are a complely impotent side this year, so we need our proven goal kickers out there to help. And it's up to the senior coach to maximise each player's strengths. I have a gut feel Lever misses again this week. You can usually get a feel from the injury report and the fact that he didn't train today... Is there a mandate at the club that doesn't allow us to give Fullarton a senior game? Started the VFL season with 3 goals and 8 marks per game. And last year when we literally did not have a ruck available, he still wasn't selected.
