  1. A freshen up is critical. 2 new assistants I think. Whether Yze stays or goes. Hopefully Simon has some time to critically assess his performance (maybe with the help of others). Accept his weaknesses, and look to bring in assistants who can compensate.
  2. Agree classic mates deal. It pays to be mates with the coach.
  3. The AFL is a corrupt socialist organisation. Nothing would surprise.
  4. Prior to round 1 last year the job was probably 70% his. Would say we would have made a change if we started the year poorly in 2021. The rest is history.
  5. He apparently has a good relationship with the players, so keep him as the face. But build around him and cover his weaknesses (which is hard with the soft cap) need to cover - his poor match day strategy & moves - his lack of ability to identify issues with the game plan, and be flexible enough to come up with solutions - lack of experimentation. Why didn’t we try and fix obvious issues this year? - forward 50 connection anything else?
  6. In fairness, it was a nice respectful message supporting her son, and thanking the club, supporters and everyone. Was on Facebook, or a few pages back in this thread. I am just a little bitter. As I said, if she gave us a few days grace, am sure we would have handled the message better
  7. Correct. apologies to you LH! We had some discussions earlier in the year, and with the benefit of hindsight you were correct, and I was wrong.
  8. I must have a wooden heart. I saw minimal sweetness, and maximum “mummy got what she wanted, the rest of you can get stuffed”
  9. Ahhh no, there was not much evidence of Max being able to create 3-4 centre clearance generated goals within a couple of minutes
  10. Too soon Melissa, please let us digest your decision for your son until the end of the week at least.
  11. “Indifferent form this year” this comment is only relative to sky high expectations. Dominated a few games this year. As a 20 year old ruckman that is huge in itself.
  12. This absolute numpty WCE supporter from Subiaco just rang up SEN, saying how much he wants Jacko - said ruckman take time, he has won rising star etc etc, then said he would only want to offer pick 20 and first rounder next year. Are you sure you want to live in Perth with these kind of people Luke?
  13. 214 pages to get to here. how many pages before a signed deal? Sportsbet have the over/under line at 267 pages.
  14. Could we tell Collingwood we will do the deal, but then pull out at the last minute when it’s too late for them to sort something else out to get their other deals done? Yes, I know. Am still angry.
  15. He is 20 turning 21, won a rising star, turned a grand final, and has still played some dominant games this year, despite not meeting some people’s expectations. Some of the games greatest rucks weren’t even getting a game at 20 y.o (including Max). Most of his weakest performances have been since R15 this year, when he has been injured. If you wish to talk him down, please wait until we have locked in the trade. Thanks :)
  16. My favourite “learnings” reference https://www.titusoreily.com/afl/the-monday-knee-jerk-reaction-afl-finals-week-two2022 “Simon Goodwin has talked a lot about learnings this year, but a key learning had not been learnt, that his forward like works about as well as the Covid Safe app.”
  17. PTSD. Melbourne and our people are not the same unfortunately.
  18. Lot of pressure from their bosses to come up with “x” amount of trade snippets per day over the next little while. Imagine a Germilist telling his editor he has nothing. Can imagine the editor replying “you are telling me you have trawled the hundreds of pages on forums like big footy and demonland and you couldn’t come up with anything?”
  19. When the dust settles, I wonder if the club will clarify or shed some light on just how big a factor players carrying injuries was this year. If that was the major driver of the fade outs, and we fill the list deficiencies (key forward etc), then you could easily put together a bullish case for next year (assuming they aren’t ongoing injuries) & assuming Simon + the FD do actually learn from the “learnings” and enhance our “method”
  20. Gee some people have short memories. After R10, the talk was Gawn/Jackson was one of the best 2 man ruck combo’s the game has ever seen. He has played some dominant games this year, some games where he was a perfect compliment for Gawn, and sure a couple of shockers in the past 1-2 months. Jacko hurt his knee R15, and word is he has largely been playing injured since. Plus it’s not overly surprising that his attitude may slip given the trade situation. He will be a star of the comp, there is very little doubt about this. No point talking him down, just because he has decided to leave. Reminds me of some mates venting about their ex-wives after they left.
  21. Disagree. A key fwd is easily a greater priority than a lockdown defender. JVR is not a guarantee. Remember how much hope we had for a young Weeed. And even if he breaks through next year, TMAc and BB are getting on, and will have ongoing injury risk. So we will need another KF to compliment JVR. I think Petty the saviour could be that key forward. But also wouldn’t be surprised if the FD wants to keep the successful backline trio of May/Lever/Petty together. At least we know that when we are next facing an end of season game, Petts might get another 5 or so minutes as a forward to kick a goal or two and a couple of goal assists.
  22. Nope. was a pick 3 with huge risk. Has shown enough to be way more valuable than just pick 2 now. be pick 2 and another top 20 pick or player.
  23. He is gone Kent. Can just about take it to the bank.
