Farewell Luke Jackson
If true, this may be Jackoâs method of looking after us. Rather than the speculated, âI will sign with Melb for 2 years, if Freo donât offer up the fair picksâ Good news. Go your hardest Freo & WCE - who wants him the most?

Are you suggesting he will never design rockets? Which could be an issue given he has ambitions of discovering other planets

Did we even try this once? this is the issue with Goodwin. Is our âmethodâ, âfocus on pressure, defenceâ, ârepeating the basicsâ that important that we couldnât even try this for a couple of centre bounces at an appropriate time? (Ie vs Nth, West coast, or when 50 points up against GWS or Bris)

Farewell Luke Jackson
The media really went after us this year. Had to overplay everything to get clicks, because we as reigning premiers are not a Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond etc who gets enough interest / clicks just out of any kind of standard news story. So all of the âGoody behavioural issuesâ, âBartlett board fightingâ, â10-0 - wonât lose a game all yearâ, âMilky punchâ, âJacko leavingâ, âhave the wheels fallen offâ stories were exaggerated and no doubt a constant distraction and waste of energy for the club/players.

Most effective forward for the year = Harrison Petty. time in forward line: 5 mins goals: 1

Simon is not a good match day coach . Never has been. He needs to hand over more game day power to assistants who can identify issues and make adjustments.

Maybe his version of we tried to address it on the run was âhey boys, we just need to execute the basics for longerâ

Not a lot of answers here. Just identifying the same obvious stuff that everyone has been seeing for months

POSTGAME: SF vs Brisbane
Most likely a bit of everything you mentioned. It could be that the game style is just not sustainable for 4 quarters. Whether we know or find out is not what is important. Is just important that the FD is confident that they know why and they are not scared to make the required changes to fix it. One positive of bombing out in straight sets, is it hopefully provides a platform for change and improvement rather than the dangerous complacency and stubborn views we have witnessed for the past couple of months.

2 points that I imagine the FD would provide when attempting to justify why they have persisted with a clearly broken method. a) the lack of a CHF does open up a greater risk of turnover goals if we play more direct. It also obviously provides challenges with the kick to the pocket method b) maybe we donât have enough players with the smarts and foot skills that Syd and Geel do, to consistently play the more attacking game style through the corridor Now that the season is over, it is time to take the following steps a) Internally acknowledge the âmethodâ is broken b) identify what types of players we need to switch to a more efficient game style (method). Both current players in different positions, and drafting/trading for others c) Identify exactly why the 2nd half fade-outs occurred and implement a plan to fix it. d) Spend the pre-season integrating and training up the players in their new roles. Ie Does Smith train as a back, Petty forward or vice versa? Be no break for the FD I assume. They need to get on top of this asap, or otherwise straight sets will lead into even bigger problems next year.

Hard to kick straight, when you are usually attacking from the pocket. the âmethodâ is broken. Donât expect them to acknowledge it externally, but do expect them to acknowledge and deal with it internally. A new method is required on top of the gaps such as a CHF, and players with foot skills and smarts.

Yes, but he doesnât actually work on and address anythingâŠJust turns up to press conferences and says there were lots of âlearningsâ and we âneed to be better for longerâ and improve our inside 50 connection

Petty taking a contested mark and kicking a goal late in the 4th, is such a big kick in the guts to the lack of experimentation/ willingness to address weaknesses for most of the season

Ah, so how did goodyâs âno changesâ, âwe will back in our systemâ go??

POSTGAME: SF vs Brisbane
For mine, clearly the q4 fade outs are a fitness / desire issue. Maybe that is injury related or a number of other potential excuses (short pre-season etc). The one thing that gets me more, is the mental fragility of suddenly stopping a winning formula when 15-20-25-30 points up in the first half. If this didnât happen, we would have won at least half our losses this year. How the same thing can happen, on repeat for a full season, with no signs of improvement is beyond me. When 20 points up, why not keep going, and get to 40 and kill the game??

A way better list than been kicked out in straight sets. Simples.

POSTGAME: SF vs Brisbane
He was horrific. disposal efficiency in 2nd half - 42% included terrible turnovers, and inside 50 entries.

POSTGAME: SF vs Brisbane
Genuine question. Has a team ever gone out in straight sets before, making no changes after the first final loss?
-
POSTGAME: SF vs Brisbane
Sorry you are upset. But this forum, got offended when some really smart posters questioned whether we were really a $1.22 chance. Just goes to show, doesnât always pay to follow the majority. $4.3 for the lions was one of the greatest gifts all season.

Genuinely nearly lost my mind with some of the inside 50 kicking decisions in the 2nd half. They will haunt me for months. hi Jack V. hope you are resting well tonight. As one of many examples coming back to me.. really really hard to comprehend.

Massive risk of becoming a team like the dogs post their 2016 flag unfortunately

Mate, I recall you scolding some people warning you about tonightâs outcome. Some accountability any chance?

POSTGAME: SF vs Brisbane
We have some really really dumb decision makers also. Not going to name them, as it doesnât achieve anything. Is another factor on the coaches though, to understand player capabilities and try and get the most out of them.

Deserves more than a backhander.
