  1. This is or best recruit fro another club ever. For skills, toughness, leadership and for never playing a bad game. The man is an all timer. This gets lost. B. Lovett was vey good an J. White was super talented, deterined and successful. But, as the best recruit fro another club. Surely its a 1 horse field?
  2. 87 was the best, unexpected. The VFL park members section was going off. Great night, great time to be a Dee.
  3. David Williams seemed to always be taking marks on the boundary line where the % chance of a goal was lower. Quick off the mark and good hands. Got delisted due to ACL and after expecting to be re-drafted in pre season draft (1990 I think) and Richmond picked him up, we were not prepared. Photo in HS the next day was Williams looking sad and players, in particular Todd V, around him with huge smiles. An odd situation.

I think thats a bit weird isnt it? And he gave up chasing Langdon out of backline in the beautiful 4th quarter only to see Langdon mark and goal 20 seconds and 130 metres later. Still would be upgrade for us.

I am a huge fan of McV and see the comparisons between him and Allan Johnson from the late 80s and early 90s another gun wa back pocket. Poise and skill .
  6. I am well aware your nutshell. I didn't understand this "When they became the bears, my mate couldn't support them, so became a dees fan. A fully committed, passionate one too. I saw heaps of games with him. But when they became the Brisbane lions, which they should have done from the get go, he felt compelled to support them" Fitzroy to Brisbane Bears was always Brisbane Lions from the start.

But when they became the Brisbane lions, which they should have done from the get go, he felt compelled to support them" What do you mean by that? I am worried my memory is shot. Didnt the Fitzroy and Bris Bears merge into Brisbane Lions from the get go?
  8. 1996 was a horrible year. Every single know it all from ernie sigley to Neil Mitchell and all the sycophantic football media were adamant that teams needed to merge for the game simply would not survive. TV shows where panels were set up to discuss and decide which team should merge and it was universally agreed by paid morons that the game just could not continue with that many clubs and Victoria. People spoke owith such Authority and if you did even contemplate or discuss the fact that the merger is a bad idea you were outcast as someone who had no sense of financial viability. Classic media cohesion propaganda. I mean even ian Ridley and Mike Sheehan were sucked in and seduced. Bill Guest ... dont even get me started. I was at the merger meeting and 95% of the people there were vehemently against the merger I could not believe that the vote got up. That in itself just showed how lost or how disconnected the game was from the real fans. How did that work? That was the era when money did try to rule everyone and everything but the people power from footscray, hawthorn, Melbourne and others stood strong and that was a beautiful thing to see. Some of these people who were so confident in the economics and demanded for us to understand what we needed are now long passed on. Their grandkids are no doubt dees supporters and loving this era. The game is in a much better State than what it was back then, the sad thing is Fitzroy could have continued in Melbourne in some form No Doubt. Pretty simple economics, keep the admission fee down to a reasonable price for everyone to access, make the stadiums work financially, keep the game clean and sponsorship will come. The game is too good to fail and has been for too long. I'm just glad people power won other moron power. Thank you Brian Dixon, thank you Joseph Gutnick. Thank you Robbie. Big time. RDB thanks but the flip to the no merger side was far too last minute. But still the 2nd greatest Demon of all time. Clarry first. 1996 Anis horribilius. But we won..... by default. "Paid experts come and go but generations of fans dont. I still feel ill about seeing the Fitzroy crew at the last game. That is sad. 2021 says thanks to the people power.

Ahh the 3rd and more commonsense option. But champing me is taking things next level.

If you went to the effort of creating this graphic and it is factually incorrect that is an uncool waste of everyones time. It is is a very odd thing to do or a very lazy thing to do. Which is it?

Must keep him. He is a decade rock we cant afford to lose.
  12. I fessed up just before dinner. Best April fools day joke ever. My family is cool. My wife said I will get you back at sometime over the next 12 months when you totally unexpect it and it will be at least double the stress value. Kids thought it was hilarious. Hugs, kisses and laughter all around.
  13. This morning I told my wife that I fell in love with a beautiful Thai lady on our family trip back to Samui in Aug last year. I told her that I want a divorce so I can actually be happy, work remotely in Phuket and start a new life, because I deserve that at the very least. She stormed off and went to work in tears with our kids in the car. I am still waiting to build up the courage to drop the April fools text. I was going to wait until dinner tonight but that might be a touch cruel.
  14. See what I mean below. Case in Point. All re: Jack Viney staying or going in sep 20. He was always our same Jack. Some people or just thick. And on that premise I will not buy the JVR is over rated or no good.
  15. JVR will be a top shelfer. Some of you clowns were seeing the compensation pick as a win win if we lost Viney to geelong fo free agency in pre 2021. So I interpret what a number of you think about football as though I was picking up my dogs feaces off your front lawn to be honest when it comes to knowing our players. Would be an interesting thread to dig up
  16. I am pleased to say I was wrong about BB. Big time, but thats life. I think he is is in the best form and fittest he has ever been in his time with us , including 21. Hope he stays fit. We have another group of generational players coming through.
  17. Todd was awesome. A Silver to Gold Version of Tom Sparrow. Kicking was always a worry.Jay was tougher than tough, Not sure why he left? Maybe too slow. Robbie Flower met Todd at the Airport in 1986 wearing a full Safari Suit, as an ice breaker , and took him to Robbies joint for the day and night. Todd was A demon from then on and helped Robbie play in his first finals and the clubs first in 23 years. Todd rebuilt us culturally before 21. Tod hated Neeld. Premium Family royalty for the Dees. BArassi, Cordner and Vineys. Hard to split.
  18. A WINNER. And was always going to be. The Ultimate "Our Boy"
  19. No team for the NT. See above. Just a miserable take.
  20. Said with such authority and pomp. Tasmanian is our great games heartland. If you cant see that the compassion and support our footy family needs in Tassie and debate it over the whole $$ rubbish that is sad. Trust me, the $$ will sort itself out. Always does. The games not going bankrupt because of Tassie! It's probably some long standing gripe you have had with someone over this and you cant get past it. If you love footy you just have to love the concept of Tassie in the family.
  21. That 2016 game and last qr in particular was when the tide turned.
  22. Dunstall pondered that Fritsch wanted number 31, after being drafted at pick 31. Then noted, it's odd because it is nit as though 31 is a popular number. Huddo jumped in to remind him that the number 31 is actually quite famous at Melbourne. I have always admired Dunstalls clarity when analysing games but that Spalding knee to the concaved head could be taking it's toll. It's only natural I suppose. That was a horrific injury and respect as he was one incredible skilful, selfless and tough footballer. But it's amateurish to commentate on a Melbourne and say that about the 31. Give me the race caller anytime
  23. He's getting dementia and forgets names of players regularly. Speaking of dementia, I am not sure he was captain when he left. I thought it was Ditterich to Robbie to Greg Healy to Lyon
