How Petracca is Chasing Greatness
His inability in front of goal is stopping him from reaching Ablett/Dusty heights. Should be breaking games open by kicking 2-3 regularly given his rotations into the forward line

VOTES: QF vs Sydney
Oliver May Langdon Petty Harmes Fritsch
-
CHANGES: SF vs Brisbane
Agree, thought Harmes did a great job on the wing and got us going early
-
GAMEDAY: QF vs Sydney
Confirmed sub. Interesting as he wasn't in named 26

GAMEDAY: QF vs Sydney
Joel Smith in kit

POSTMATCH: Rd 22 vs Carlton
You look at that kick and his kick v Geelong last year. Very smart footballer

TEAMS: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Melksham knows his limitations pretty much. Doesn't think he's the star. As a leading mid sized forward I'd definitely take melksham. Harmes can easily pick up 20+ in the middle, yes, and has a better goal sense than Clarry or even Trac, but Brayshaw can get more and make a lot smarter decisions with the footy. Purely in terms of team balance, need of more of a pure forward than pure mid, we take Melksham. Harmes is stiff, yes, but they are no like for like swaps and it was immediately clear from the bounce v Freo how much better our structure was with Gus

CHANGES: Rd 22 vs Carlton
Aside from his kicking he had one of his best forward games. I think we kicked to Brown too often in the second half which made us predictable

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - MICHAEL HIBBERD
Wanna see this guy run away with another premiership cup this year.

Farewell Sam Weideman
I saw him lay good follow up tackle at one stage. I think Weid is a very limited footballer, but I think this was just a very quiet game rather than a very poor one. I'm happy to watch the replay, although to me I can understand why tv coverage would make a quiet game look much worse

Farewell Sam Weideman
I think Brown would have been no better last night to be fair. I was at the game and saw Weid often more competitive in contested situations than last week. Conditions had a big say.

CHANGES: Rd 21 vs Collingwood
Loved our midfield mix and the balance of our line up in general. One of Harmes/Sparrow/ANB has to sit, I'm not fussed if Harmes sits again. I would reward this 22 and give Weid another chance

Farewell Sam Weideman
I don't think tonight raises any alarm bells. 1 disposal reads poorly, but saw him presenting well and working hard particularly in the 2nd half. That's not to say it wasn't a poor game , I just didn't feel it was significantly worse than last week
-
CHANGES: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Brown out certainly makes selection easier, if we were going to try the 2 bigs together it wouldn't have been this week
-
CHANGES: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Trying Viney in the defensive forward role again might be worth a shot, just to address the inside 50 tackling. Seemed to make a nice impact there, hard as it may be with him in career best form in the middle lately. Started the season with 5 goals in 5 games too

CHANGES: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
There's no way we go with 4 tall defenders, particularly with rain forecast. It's still Lever for Tomlinson for mine
-
CHANGES: Rd 20 vs Fremantle
Could he move into the Harmes-type role I wonder? We seemed to cover for Harmes well at certain points last year
-
Numbers
I still believe in us enough that we can knock off freo or Brisbane over there. But yeah, we are not gonna flick a switch and win it out of the top 4. A lot fell into place last year, good health, easy draw after missing finals 2020. It's a shame we had the 10-0 start to get our hopes up rather than have losses dispersed throughout the year

POSTGAME : Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
Jordon is a clear one too. I'd definitely include Viney, Kozzy and probably Clarry. Saw the best of May too early in the season, not quite as good post-injury

POSTGAME : Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
Brayshaw's kicking lacks penetration which would be a lot more forgivable if he was still a midfielder. That said he has the composure and bravery of a defender. We saw some awful ball use from more reliable guys tonight, too. Really liked some of our ball use inside 50 earlier in the game. Weid and Melksham's leading and passing were assets, however in a pack Weid got outbodied far too easily on multiple occasions

GWS Exodus
Hogan voiced frustration on radio during the week then finds himself out of the team, "managed". Wonder if he's considering his future now too

TEAMS: Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
Except my point was more about the type of player they are, than purely their position, hence the word traditional. I guess we'll let Bevo decide what suits him best and have the results do the talking, JUH flourishes more as a main target it seems. Goody's stubborn and often unpopular selection has proved fruitful more often than not

TEAMS: Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
With English as the lone ruck, though
-
TEAMS: Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
Think it'll be a game of momentum shifts as always with the dogs but I think we can get up, should be able to put a winning score on the board at Marvel

TEAMS: Rd 19 vs Western Bulldogs
we are desperate for another target, yes, but the question is what pressure they can provide when we don't have the ball, which seems a majority of the time in recent weeks, which explains the Bedford (which hasn't worked) and now Melksham selections.
