Melkshams pattern of leading deep in the pockets and then converting near on every time from the boundary really complemented the model by both creating space and keeping our coversion rate up. He will be sorely missed.

so out poor number for points scored per inside 50 is a reflection of our greater number of inside 50s rather than poor kicking ie not converting inside 50s to scores
This problem has cost us many games over the last few seasons years and needs to be fixed pronto!
Our greater number of inside 50's has seen us finish in the top 4 the last 3 years and win a premiership. I don't know it is a problem we need to fix.

For a whole bunch of reasons, i would say almost certainly not.
Brenton Sanderson was asked this question on whateley the Thursday before round 23 (a game they got smashed by the Lions, in large part becuase of all their outs).
From 6:14 to 8:33:
Thanks. Sanderson says it's his personal view that clubs shouldn't do it but sports scientists might disagree. I don't think he's been at Collingwood since the FIGJAM era.
Interesting Selwood and subsequently Scott admitted Geelong did it last year but they didn't have the drop off over the same period Collingwood have this year.

- I reckon you've nailed it DD on what i consider to the the critical factor - we are running out games better.
- it is just so easy to see and so different to where we were at last year - and the problem for the pies is that there is simply no way to turn that around at this point in the season. The fitness levels are the fitness levels
Were they loading with the top position all but sewn up? That could explain their inability to run out games.
If not we could really steamroll them.

Buckley would be a great get if he wishes to become reinvolved.
Buckley's coaching record is horrible.
Good luck to Yze. Is Balme still overseeing the head coach at Richmond?

I'm wondering who we think is our ruck back up should Grundy go and Max gets an injury.
For me the cupboard would be well and truly bare - Schache isn't really up to it IMO and Verrall whilst showing potential is not ready and may not be for some time.
If Grundy is going, I hope we are seriously looking at another ruck who can compete with the big boys.
JVR is a better ruckman than Grundy is a forward. I've been amazed by some of JVR's tapwork this year.

Just viewed the training photos. What stood out to me was how much Trent Rivers has filled out since last year.
Of all our recruits selected in the past two drafts, I believe he will end up proving to be our most important selection of them all.
I don’t want to brag, but I just found this old post of mine from Feb ‘21.
The 2019 draft is one for the ages for the MFC.
Luke Jackson heavily involved in the most exhilerating 3 minutes of football in my lifetime and we still have to first 2 Freo picks to come for him.
Kozzie would be one of the first players picked at any club in the league.
Yet Trent Rivers is shaping up as the consistently best of them all.

A great of the club snd the AFL. His own man. Amongst his long list of legacy's will be proof that you don't need to be a robot to be a successful player and leader.

Try suring.
I agree Max should assist the defence by playing a kick behind play.
Max should be down back they will never kick to that side. May and Lever will clean up

I always think of The Boxing Day Test and The Sydney To Hobart on boxing day. Troy probably played his best game in his last one. He almost won us the final against Essendon with the job he did on Hird
RIP Troy and all others who lost their lives in this tragedy.
I read that people were running towards the water when the sea went out before it came back 10 times worse.

Aaron Davy could kick with pace but I think he slowed down at the last second before he kicked it. We have the best midfield in the league, let's not worry about leg pace

Petty has shown absolutely nothing up forward except for taking some strong marks and kicking goals in late 2019 and then playing for the last 5 minutes of 2022 and taking strong marks and goal.
Narrow minded coaching that it wasnt at least tried in 2022. When something isnt working you try things that might. I dont see how people can suggest its robbing peter to pay paul when it hasnt even been tested yet. Make that comment after the evidence is presented. Its ok to give it a shot and be wrong. Eg. Fritta at half back.
How many goals has he kicked per minute in the forward line? Could be more than Neitz

I asked him why he won a premiership at every every club besides Melbourne and he said we didn't give him enough time I believe him.

My highlight so far and it is going to be hard to top the merchandise girls walking around handing out posters to the fans and trying to give Brad Green one.
