  1. He kept saying he has the ‘credentials’ to fix the issues at the club. It sounded like he was making his case to not be sacked in that presser.
  2. He literally said the players ‘lack fight’?
  3. Whether it happens now or later, Goodwin is done. Just a matter of when.
  4. Spargo with the right decision!!! Unselfish!!!
  5. Shorter kicks = goals. Players leading up = goals. Players that can kick into F50 = goals.
  6. c’mon Dees, keep going!
  7. Just over and over again. Long kicks F50.
  8. Hey can you tell me, with the longer kicks into F50, are we kicking it over shorter options?
  9. I was just about to ask a similar thing. Adelaide v Geelong and Pies v Sydney, had players constantly leading up. Are all our forwards pushing up so by the time we enter F50 they have to run back?
  10. Fair. I’ll reel myself back in and not get so wound up next time.
  11. I feel like we’re gonna win because we aren’t in Victoria? If this game was at the G, I’d feel like we were gonna lose. Football is so dumb. Or I’m dumb. Probably both are dumb.
  12. It’s both and more. Coaching - down the line, create contest. Explicitly no reason to develop pin point skills. Focus on defense- limit teams scoring over kicking big score ourselves (we’ve scored over 85 points, 3 times in the past 48 games) Reliance on Max to take marks everywhere. Again, no vision or skills developed. Just find Max forward of the ball. Failing that, kick it to a contest. Hope it’s a ball up and we’ll win it. Kick it to pockets in our F50 to create a stoppage via the boundary if the forward doesn’t mark it. Always always always, create a stoppage and limit other teams scoring. No focus on creating chains of free flowing footy. We have prioritised winning contests and bashing it forward, in the hope that there will be another contest to rinse and repeat the process. Player list: Created for defence and stoppage/contest footy. Look at out mid field alone. Tracc/Clarry/Viney. They’ll win you the ball and do bugger all with it if it’s dependant on skill. No speed at all. Just chaos balls forward. Which teams worked out against us in 2022. Off field issues are a part of the more. Can’t be stuffed going over it to be honest, So coaching wise, the game style is completely defunct. The senior and even 100 game players we have are both: conditioned to said defunct game plan and also too many of the wrong kind of player. Very little skill, very little speed. Will crack in though. Big changes needed both the end of this year and next.
  13. Chatted to Pendles once or twice outside a cafe near a place I was working… a bloody good bloke. Known quite a few people that have met him and everyone says the same thing about him. Mmmm, I think at that time he was playing off about 23 or so? He didn’t start playing golf until he was about 50 so pretty good effort. That’s the beauty of golf! All up probably only a few minutes of actual play a round, but it creates a lifetime of memories. Playing off 7 is pretty impressive. I never had the patience to keep at golf. Too aggressive, haha
  14. Grundy, Ladhams and who?
  15. In terms of skill upgrade, bulldogs premiership year was lauded for handball skills and how they could chain them together. It now just looks to be the standard.
  16. They are just confident in their skills and know that they’ll both have players to dispose to, either by foot or hand and where those players will be. A lot because it’s afforded to them because most teams are prioritising scoring and have been for a while.
  17. My elderly dad was paired up with Sidebottom and another Collingwood player (he didn’t know his name) for 18 holes of golf, about 10 years or so ago. Said he was an excellent guy. Super friendly, genuine and accommodating. My dad was 60ish at the time and they were both pretty good. But at no point did he feel like they were becoming impatient with him. I love seeing Sidebottom still playing well. I’m a fan.
  18. Audacious field kicking has gone to another level this year. The skills we’ve seen are just unreal. What was outstanding 5 years ago now just feels commonplace. Things have jumped up a notch.
  19. BoBo replied to Redleg's topic in Melbourne Demons
Phil Davis is an outrageously good communicator in general. Whatever issue he weighs in on, he cuts through all the noise and distills it down to a simple and clear conclusion. I have no idea what his tactical abilities are like, but I’m certain that if he got involved in some capacity with a group of players, they would run through brick walls for him.
  20. Oooooooooohoo hoo hoo, can you feel, the tension, in the air right now, I know I can, I can feel it, all the way to my…
  21. Watch the game again and count how many long kicks down the line or into F50 whilst burning shorter and better options we make. Players taking shots at goal from ground level, when a better option is available by foot or hand. I don’t care if we lose whilst trying to make a better string of connections. It’s the way forward, so as long as we DO try/take those options, lower the eyes, look wide, kick at angles, play less selfishly and more team orientated, string marks together to free players, that’s all I want to see. Our ball use has been awful but the other side of that coin is decision making. The only way is through and there will be losses along the way which I can accept… if we are on a trajectory of improvement. I do care if we lose because Essendon set up down the line and just continually intercept our long kicks, kick to oppo outnumbers or to nobody and dump kicks out of the middle. We’re 18th in 2025 for goal assists too (5 per game) which is quite a margin below the next worst team in Carlton at 6.3. AFL average is 9.6. Our accuracy is also 18th so I get that these two will feed into each other, but bloody hell, we have 20% less goal assists than the second worst team right now. Lots of work to be done but hopefully we see some improvement!
  22. Petty is the only Melbourne player this year, that’s in the top 100 AFL players for kicking efficiency. At #96 I believe? So incredibly, if we dropped him, we would be dropping our most efficient user by foot, haha… huh… * sobs uncontrollably *
  23. It’s gonna be a long season.
  24. That is a horrible mistake
  25. I think this is the case. They were told to review any scoring situations that may looked close… after Adelaide missed out on finals in edition 55 of the crows were robbed right in front of me, haha
