  1. He may have been but he never played CHB at AFL level. Distorted selection.
  2. Unfortunately our forwards are full of doubt and confidence has been affected. Imagine the noise stars like Lyon and Schwarta would be making if mids kicked or didnt kick to them as ours do. And then at another level again, Carey, Buddy or Lloyd. There would be hell to pay,
  3. Agree, that one at the start from Viney srt the tone for the day.
  4. We are Goody have nothing to lose now. Caution to the wind.
  5. I understand that but I am talking about timing leads, body positions, doubling back and the like. These are things only gun forwards know. Not suggesting they have anything to do with strategies and game plans.
  6. I understand you need someone to teach forwards game plans and so on but why oh why cant we get people of the calibre of Lyon, Neitz and Swarta to do the occasional session teaching some tricks of the trade. are coaches too frail in ego to have those ex stars around?
  7. The GIANTS have welcomed another GIANTS Academy graduate to its senior list with Canberra's Tom Green selected with pick 10 in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft. Green was bid on by Carlton at pick 10 but being a GIANTS Academy product, the GIANTS matched the bid using picks 41, 56, 59, 67 and 71.Nov 27, 2019 OK, thanks. I see how it works now. It would be intersting to know what they would have matched our number 3 with though. The example above is matching number 10 pick.
  8. How would they have done that if we took him with 3.
  9. And another. Should have taken Tom Greene last year, understanding it was a bit complicated with the Academy situation. So we would now have two AFL ready players, Green and King.
  10. Oliver, the eighth worst kick in the Comp. That is shameful to both player and coaching group. Either he is not getting the help and direction, home truths, he needs or he is not listening or respecting the coach.
  11. My point more broadly is if recruiters focused more on a specific type of midfielder we might have had a better balance rather than just adding another srong bodied mid. We are crying, no screaming out for a small/medium sized pacy type. He does not need to be crash and bash. he could even be a little toward the receiver side of things, although not timid type as long as he knows when to run, can run and can execute good delivery.
  12. I hear you but tend to disagree. jack is rover sized, albeit powerful and has been encouraged to be a beast from the day he arrived. This has been at the expense of learning and working on execution skills. He often goes for balls others should be and the others out of respect or fear of his authority stand by. He should be concentrating on playing a true rovers role and leave the bullocking to a tradional ruck rover type like petracca or more modern day type like Oliver. The traditional set up and I will stand corrected was. Ruck big tick Ruck Rover Strong versatile and moderately skilled Rover Fast and skilled of foot Centreman Skilled and Classy, roamed far and wide. I think that model is still applicable today for the Dees. Too much of one type, regardless of balance unsettles things. I think modern recruiting terminolgy is rubbish where everyone is a midfielder. It is about point of difference.
  13. Having Bartlett in the Chair makes me ..... It is like the rich kid at school who switched teams to the Premiers each year, proudly wearing his stoplessly clean and ironed jumper on sportsdays.
  14. If we do not see changes, positional and playing style this week then we know we have recruited a yes man in Richardson who goes with the status quo. Lets hope he makes himself unpopular with Goody this week and we see some changes. If not things are even worse with our coaching contractual obligations than many of us thought.
  15. 69 was an interesting one for me. I joined the cheer squad and match day was a lot of fun. Be there for when the gates open, rush to seats, even learned the words to the Cheer squad official ditty when the Police came to look things over Cheer squad leader, I can clearly visualise him but name escapes me would ask of us. What are pennies made of? .......................................... Some of you may know the rest. I have too much respect for police now to repeat it. As for the footy we lost the first seven straight then tidied uop a hapless Fitzroy. It was also the year I realised greg Parke was not better than Royce Hart, Blair Campbell was no match for KB and Ray Biffen was a tough son of a ... We finished last but even as a 12 year old it had nowhere near the hurt and sadness I feel nowdays.
  16. I genuinely believe Goody has an issue with stubborness and order. It may be how he copes with life. He was a dogged, determined and focused player. Not sure he was a good Captain.
  17. Discussed the very same idea with my son last night. You would need a good player to mind Oliver and Jack can concentrate on being a second rover who gets some mid time but values every minute of it. Its been poor development that win lose or draw jack heads to the middle at the start of every game.
  18. I did not say he was leaving. Whats the attitude for?
  19. Beveridge is the man for the job at the Dees. . He took a Club who had been in the wilderness like us to a flag. He has a hard edge as well as being liked by his players. Ex Demon player as well so he knows the culture.
  20. I think Viney knows he often cannot kick the required distance, say 40-45 and does not want to embaress himself trying.
  21. Yes. It is perplexing and someone indeed is odd about the situation. The little Goodwin gives away is that he needs to bring the ball to ground. Does he mean bring the ball to ground if unable to take a mark or just bring the ball to ground ? I do not think the kid knows what he is meant to do as it appears to go against any established and traditional way of playing CHF. And at what stage do you say he has done enough development and play him. Is it when he kicks goals, is it when he brings it to ground two or three times. It appears to be another sign of Goodwins odd quirks. And HOW do you explain that he does not demand the same set of rules for other. Viney will not get a game until he kicked to position....you could name a dozen cases where players should not be playing as they are not doing what Goodwin says is playing the Melbourne brand. Its very odd and Clubs will be circling Weideman this year or next. Looks like another draft bust.
  22. Woken up the the fact you embaressed yourself for your previous comment about him being an embaressment to himself. What a miserable thing to say about a player who played to the best of his ability last year and tried his guts out. No revisionist from me so do not try and square up.
