  1. Interested take on Barlett from a former player and coach. I got canned for the same observation recently.
  2. Wise heads please We know from experience Viney will say he is ready to play. Max too will want to be out there. Burgess final say please.
  3. Agree entirely on Bennell. Let him get a block of games, he is the least of our worries and if we do make finals you want him there. If we dont make the finals he will be in the staters block for next year.
  4. Job done. Opposition neither sharked Maxs hit outs or pressued our ball carriers. That heat will be back on soon....
  5. Brayshaw is one of those big bodied kids that always got to play on ball as a kid. His size, fitness and drive allowed him to get plenty of kicks as a junior. I am always suspicious of the kids that have a golden run on the ball as juniors. Its no good trying to learn to kick or handball properly once you hit the big time. He cannot or does not want to play anywhere but in the middle.
  6. Forget the score, forget the stats sheet, I would not even look at the stats if I was Goodwin. Go with you footy gut instinst on team and individual performance. Stats tell little of assistance for our midfield. Looking for a win, dont care how by how much, with a composed team game and individual improvement in skills and ball movement. This should be a game to build a solid block of form from. Get the four points. And then move on.
  7. I got that feeling too spirit. Thats why he threw the adsurd idea of Oliver in the mix. Brayshaw yes, even for a second rounder, sad to say.
  8. It looked like that but nothing alike from a kicking perspective.
  9. Just got off the floor to reply. Fifty points would be great but I will be happy with a measured performance with individual and team improvement. The last thing we want is a manic game and runaway win.
  10. I feel when we moved Watts on we needed to replace him with a similiar player, skill wise. It was pretty obvious. So was needing to replace Hogan, albiet a bit more difficult. For mine even watching the warm ups Hogan was the one you kept an eye on. When the ball left the middle you watched Hogans movement. I am sure our players did too, as of course did one or two opposition defenders.
  11. That sounds entirely predictable from the outset.
  12. Most recruiters are over rated. Finding a good recruiter is the key. What you point out is nothing more than an amatuer could do with the help of all the phantom guides. I like Jackson and Pickett but as always time will tell . At the moment Georgiadis and Serong are looking good, another tall, small combo. My query on Jackson is recruiting a ruckman and playing him as a forward until he is big and mature enough to be the key ruckman.
  13. King is happy at GC. They are a very united camp.
  14. It sounds like Goodwin has brought his own playing attributes to his coaching. Contest work.
  15. Funnily enough if I had know he was fit I would have considered bringing him in even with Max there as well. let him crash and bash, upset opposition plans, soften the other ruck up for Max and let him get forward as well.
  16. Very difficult to know how good our mids are with Max putting it down their throats for their whole career. I think Oliver would be a handful played forward in bursts. Let some others do the crash and bash for a while. He would thrive with a little less gang tackling from set plays the opposition are aware of.
  17. I would add Brown to that . Sure he was a bit fumbly but he led to the ball. I would of given him a break re nerves in his first game for us.
  18. Sure, I agree. Happy for Jordan and Sparrow to get some games. Also like to see Kossie do a bit of roving. He is a natural mover through traffic.
  19. No way of telling how good any of our midfielders really are with Gawn putting it down their throats.
  20. Simple message to all players. Leave nothing in the tank this game. Forget about the turn around. Burn all your energy. We are going to rotate you guys, no exceptions.
