  1. No wanting to make excuses, but this had to be a factor.
  2. By the way. I never claimed that it should be a free kick against Redmann. I simply meant that Sarpgo should have not been done for holding the ball in such circumstances.
  3. My only knock on Clarrie's game and it always has been so, it that unlike other gun mids of his ilk, he does not hit the scoreboard enough, especially when it matters. If he did, I suspect he would have won a Brownlow by now.
  4. Spargo did CROUCH, to avoid the incoming opponent (Redmann). He did not duck. Whether Redmann was trying to hit Spargo in the head or otherwise, does not matter. The fact is, Spargo was hit in the head by Redmann. No if's or but's. It was a hit to the head. That is why the MRO grade head high hits, which include the word "careless". If Redmann tried to wrap his arms around Spargo, in a tackle, then maybe a different story. The fact is, it was a bump, which affected Spargo's head. It WAS NOT a tackle.
  5. FFS. I give up. In this current day and age, the head is sacro sanct. The oppo player ran through and hit Spargs in the head with his hip. That player did not have his arms in a position to tackle. He bumped him in the head.
  6. So getting a whack in the head, which gives you concussion, is OK is it?
  7. If he was tackled, in the same movement - as described above - then perhaps you might have an argument. But it wasn't a tackle, it was a bump, where he was hit in the head, by his opponent's hip.
  8. Well, I guess you duck, when you bend over to pick up the ball. Notwithstanding, he was hit in the head and was concussed. So that's OK is it? Bugger me dead if it is.
  9. He was hit in the head by his opposition's hip. He did not duck, he picked up the ball. It could not have even been conceivable, that it was holding the ball, if he did not have possession, after bending down. He was not caught in a tackle, he was bumped in the head. He was concussed FFS.
  10. Is there a MRO for umpires? To me the turning point in the game was when Spargs copped a hit to the head, was done for holding the ball and went off concussed. I don't give a fig for free stats. It is where they are given and when. To me, the Spargo incident was the turning point. I am not saying we would have won otherwise, but momentum certainly shifted at that stage.
  11. I hate to say it. I love JVR, but he's just not there at the moment. TMac tries his heart out, but I think the game has past him by now. Ordinary from Clarry and Trac tonight. We just don't have a functioning forward line.Cover Fritta and we are gone at the moment.
  12. Is that wife my former wife left me?
  13. Acknowledged, Crisp's so called incident was years ago, but it still amazes me why any AFL player would subject themselves to any social media. The only result can only end in tears.
  14. Cripps got off on a legal technicality. He went on to win the 2022 Brownlow. At appeal, Carlton brought in a QC. The act itself was never questioned, only procedural fairness of the mechanics of the MRO and Tribunal. As a result, the AFL changed the 'law'. The debate as to whether Kozzie deserves suspension or not is understandable, but to me, there is no natural justice in this decision, based on the Cripps ruling and the Franklin decision. Disgraceful in my view.
  15. Did Kozzie make contact with the head? Sure, he jumped when moving to bump, but as already said, Smith got up and kept playing. Franklin's elbow makes contact with a blokes jaw, who is clearly affected by the hit and leaves the field. If the penalties which have been respectively offered make sense, then I am an absolute dill. Fair and consistent is all we ask.
  16. Ummm. This was the first inter club practice match of season 2023. A PRACCY match!!!!! I'm pretty happy thus far.
  17. Howes, although injury plagued this year, has what it takes from what I have seen of his limited game time in the 2's. Of course there if JVR and Turner. Also, Lachie Hunter, if he is in the right mindset, is a great pick up for us.
  18. I just love this. https://twitter.com/ranahuss/status/1579756101637410817
  19. Not an English lesson, just correct English. I'll espouse my opinion at all times. in line with the topic. But I will never be a smart [censored], with someone who can articulate their alternate opinion, with grace.
  20. I suggest your reply should have said 'would have', 'not would of'. Just the same, how good is it to be on Demonland with such gracious people, who clearly have no idea about opinions and cannot allow someone having an alteranate opinion, without having a chip back. Excuse me Dry as a Dale, but my opinion is my own. I did not try to impose it on anyone else. However, clearly, you've made your own choice to respond. Why do I persist being here? I'll get back to ya. Go you mighty Demons.
  21. There is no doubt Freo definitely wanted him. Of course, I cannot know the actual workings of the negotiations, but WC said they were also very interested. If I was the MFC I would have caused the stand off to go longer and seek not only draft picks (inclusive of the Bedford trade) and sought a player as well, in an effort to try and fill any perceived gaps in our list, especially after losing Hunt's pace.
  22. I truly believe the club did not handle the Jackson deal well. We got way unders in my view. Let's see what happens now with the little remaining trade period and draft.
  23. Agreed, but keep in mind that Hawthorn commissioned it's own, independent and external review. Based on the results of that review, the AFL has initiated its own independent review, which will include a KC and indigenous people on the pan. Whatever the outcome, it is clear we still have not, as a country, addressed the concerns of our first nations peoples. That is simply not good enough, by any measure.
